As a technic enthusiast, always amazes me how often this corner of the Lego world gets overlooked in videos like these, cuz we get the overpriced just as bad at times.
The X-jet is definitely overpriced and yes now that I have the X-Mansion I really want to get it so that I can display them together. Oh well hopefully it'll get discounted in a couple of months
New subscriber here! I think you're really good at speaking off the cuff! I don't know about the X-Mansion though, since it is also very overpriced IMO
I wasn't surprised the X-Jet was your number one set. When I saw the MSRP, I was blown away. I was thinking is should be around $35-$40. It needs to go down a lot, and I'm a huge X-men fan.
There's alot going into what the pricing of a set should be. Those who aren't on the production side of things may not realize all the expenses involved; raw material, transportation (fuel), royalty, salary, retail shelving, rent, etc.... The other big factor is target audience. Some themes cost more than others. That's because the target audience is different. If Lego is trying to tap into a new theme / market, they might already anticipate that their profit margin would be minimal, break-even, or possibly suffer a little loss. For established themes / market such as Star Wars and Harry Potter, they need to charge higher to recoup some of that money back. That's just how business is. Some customers pay the bill, others just coffee money. From a fans point of view, I'm very selective with the sets I purchase due to shortage of shelf space. For that reason, I only purchase premium sets. In this case, I'm more focus on the design of the build rather than the cost difference of a $100; an amount that has no factor in the long run. But that's just me.
Dang that sucks that you didnt like the office set, I feel like lego honesty did an amazing job and the best they could with that set, definitely worth the 120 dollars for all the minifigs.
Editing for this video and getting its kinda grown on me a bit having to see a bunch of different shots and angles of the set but 120 still feels crazy lol. Might pick it up on Black Friday if I see it for like 80
Which figure is David Brent in The Office set, and which one is Tim played by Martin Freeman. I am going to have to get another Sanctum Santorum and supersize it, forgot how good that set is now everything is packed away while building work is complete.
Lol in the UK that jet is even cheaper on ebay, you can consistently buy them for £35-40 I got one for £35 last month, new sealed, even at that price its underwhelming tbh

Fun Fact: $ 70 USD in 2012 = between $95 to $96 USD.
NGL, surprised there are non-Marvel/Star Wars sets on the list.

Last few years I find myself just waiting to get some coupons and sales to get most Lego sets tbh.
Yea most sets go to around 20% off at a minimum after 6 months or so typically

Inflation has destroyed the value of LEGO. Most used to use the 10 cents a piece ratio. Now, it's more like 12 cents.

12 regular not so unique figures to justify a $120 dollar price point? Yeah there’s definitely better value out there.
