I can only agree with FlagsNZ’s conclusion in his review of this set (for anyone who hasn’t read it, I highly recommend it): the flag issue needs to be rectified by Lego - the real Endurance flew the Blue ensign(!), not the Red. For a Lego Icons set, that is designed to be a historically accurate showcase model, this is a massive mistake and I’m surprised by how little attention it has gotten.
Hi TheDammtuss. Yeah fair call. When we pay premium prices and buy models of such historically significant, in his case, a vessel. It is disappointing for such a seemingly simple fix. However, I think the greater mistake is leaving out a minifig of this main set, and having to get the GWP to get one. That seems unfair to me. Mind you, we should also focus on the goodness of the set and that we have one in this first place, and by the looks of it, done very well. So we should celebrate Lego in this regard. Ill be getting it regardless.

Remarkable journey to Antarctica with everyone surviving (except the cat and the dogs 😢) the shipwreck after being stranded for over a year. Love this set and love ships in general. Definitely day 1 purchase with the GWP.
It’s an amazing story (minus the animals) - Harry McNish the carpenter who owned Mrs Chippy (the cat) reportedly fell out with shackleton when he ordered him to be shot and may have been a reason why he argued a lot with shackleton and wasn’t on the list to receive the Polar Medal on their return. Theres also now a monument to Mrs Chippy in New Zealand.
I don’t mind the slightly more staggered look of the hull compared to the Titanic, as the Endurance is in a much larger scale (around 1:55 I think) compared to the Titanic (1:200), so its shaping would stand out more.

Gorgeous set and great review as always, Tiago! E.g.: do you just build the set and write down some things that you liked and then take it to the studio and take it apart to film the things you want to, or you film/write the script as you are building it for the first time?

First things first - Thank you for your review. Well done. Black Friday is a memory, and I have some bad ones concerning my attempt to get the GWP. Was on the LEGO site prior to midnight and put into a 'waiting room'. I guess to limit the number of shoppers in the store? After a couple of minutes I'm allowed to access the main website. Get an Endurance in my cart and the GWP is in it too. Click on the Confirm and Pay button and the website crashes. It stayed unusable for the next 20 minutes, so I gave up. I then returned at 4am and the website was working, but the GWP was gone. Isn't that great? Shame on you LEGO. I called LEGO to complain. They gave me $20 in VIP points. I told them it was like being in a store when they first open, getting your items in your cart, and then having the retailer refuse to let you purchase the items. It's a metaphorical slap in the face.
I was hoping this model went in a different creative direction. I wanted to see part of a mini-fig scale ship stuck in an ice flow with mini-fig crew members that better captured the essence of the survival story and how the Endurance is remembered.
Hmm. I was hoping this review would convince me this is a must buy on day one, but now I'm not so sure. 🤔 I really like the look of this ship, but the small details in this review like hull and deck having studs showing unlike the Titanic, and Shackleton being a GWP, really makes me hesitant to throw down $400 AUD on it, which I'd have to spend just for the Shackleton GWP. But then I didn't get Titanic because it's $1000 AUD, but maybe if i skip this and put that towards Titanic... 😅 Either way, considering how many great Lego sets have been released this year, looks like I will have a hard decision to make very soon. Thanks for the review Taigo, much appreciated. 👍
Amazing set The scale is great with all the details inside What is the scale? 1:150? The minifigures should be part of the set, its ridiculous that they're exclusive ti the gwp
While I agree the Lego Titanic's hull looks more seamless, I do prefer the stepped nature of the Lego Endurance's hull as it better represents the shape of the real ship. Lego did a great job with Titanic's stern but the bow doesn't mimic the form of the real Titanic's bow quite as well. When I have some spare cash and time, I want to experiment with modifying the bow to try and get that more realistic look.
NO STICKERS!!! I will be buying this next week! - I actually like the skeleton legs as they look like carved wooden railings. Also, I plan on watching the documentary while I build it as well!
So I could get three GWP with this set? The Lifeboat, Record Player and Christmas Train as well 2x vip points...or have they pulled a "Lego" and made it so getting all 3 is impossible.
The two others you mentioned are Insiders Weekend only or do they extend until Black Friday? Because if they do, then yes, you could possibly get them all!
Can I please recommend you break more pieces throughout these, please. Will make outside enjoyers like me feel better when I even breath near a Lego set.
This s the way they should be doing sets (no prints, great parts, good looking, price was a bit fairer than usual)/ Also the flag and sails are so great. I really wish this is the way they would do all the castle sets (the few they do pop out) and the great space sets! Btw, do you have an idea why they refuse to use the standard ship hull pieces they used in the barracuda bay? Are they expensive ? not accurate ? The hull looks a bit wonky to be honest. But outside that, GREAT set.
I was waiting your review to purchase, i know i will then ! It’s looks very good, not perfect but given that the original ship was pretty round to avoid being crushed by ice, it wasn’t possible to make it as flat as the titanic in any way i guess ? Thanks Tiago !
I'm not too bothered by the lack of mini figures, or that it's not figure scale. It would simply have to be massive for a figure scale ship. The closest thing I can think of currently is the Ninjago Movie Destiny's Bounty, and that thing still feels cramped even with a full interior.
oke lego i love it, please now make a titanic size imperial flagship ( hms victory style ) i know it wil be very expensive but i would spend my money on it.
While I'm amazed by the Endurance's and its crew's story, and I do believe that Shackleton's skills and leadership were necessary for survival, upon watching the TED talk "Why do we celebrate incompetent leaders?" by Martin Gutmann (I highly recommend watching it!), I realized that the reason they had to endure (no pun intended) all those hardships was because of Shackleton as well. So, an argument could be made if he was indeed a good leader and had bad luck, or vice versa. Regarding the model: It looks nice but I imagined it with minifigures, so it's a bummer that not one is included. I probably won't buy it, even though I was looking forward to it very much.
While watching the Disney+ documentary I had the same thoughts 😂 But I guess in a way, owning and making up for his mistakes in this way, where most people would fail still was an impressive feat right?
Yes, I agree. He took all the responsibility and guided the crew through everything and made the good calls when their life depended on it. I should watch that Disney+ documentary! If you're further interested in the story I recommend the Alfred Lansing's book: Endurance: Shackleton's Incredible Voyage. Also: I like your videos very much! You're one of the few youtubers I watch regularly. :)
It’s nice but Lego sailed ships don’t look quite right to me. I think it’s that the sails aren’t made of bricks but they take up a lot of the view. It makes it look less like a Lego model.
While Shackleton should have been in the main set the lifeboat desperately needs Frank Worsley who’s nautical skills made the rescue possible in the first place by navigating the lifeboat to South Georgia in one of the most challenging regions in the toughest conditions.
The more Lego makes amazing models of real life vehicles, the more I get upset they don't want to produce any military stuff. Yeah, I'm also a huge objector of military glorification, but having Lego tanks or Lego battle ships or Lego battle planes would slap so hard.

What are some other ships you’d like to see turned into LEGO? I’d personally like the see the preserved tyne paddle steamer Eppleton Hall
Amazing set
The scale is great with all the details inside
What is the scale?
I was at the Lego store in London and bought it but I got for free Shackleton’s lifeboat and his minifigure was there
Another brilliant review from the legend Tiago catarino
Many thanks!
NO STICKERS!!! I will be buying this next week! - I actually like the skeleton legs as they look like carved wooden railings. Also, I plan on watching the documentary while I build it as well!
This will look nice with the wooden version that I've been working on.
The low number of gwp they made for day one makes this a no go. Honestly the gwp should have been included in this set
Is the lifeboat only available on the lego site ?
Epic Endurance ship great fabrics and detail awesome review 👍
Thank you 👍
I’m no history buff but in the UK we are not taught about this story. Love the build though!
There will also be a Shackleton compass available for points when the Endurance releases.
3 GWPs yes. Double points no, as this releases after Insider's weekend.
Nice 😺 Books about Shackleton and his example of Leadership are required reading in my opinion 😺 Looking forward to building this set! Cheers 🍻
Hope you enjoy it!
Ok, I was doubting I would buy this at day one. Now i will.
RIP Wallet!!
@TiagoCatarino more like: how do I explain this to my wife
Ahaha yeah, good luck sir!
So after the Titanic and Endurance, they really should release the SS Chelyuskin next, and then round the collection out with a Lego iceberg set.
Reminds me of the LEGO USS Constellation set from the 1970s.
Can I please recommend you break more pieces throughout these, please. Will make outside enjoyers like me feel better when I even breath near a Lego set.
Break more pieces? What do you mean?
@@TiagoCatarino It was a silly joke about how well you make Legos and how terrible I am at it. Keep up the good work, friend!
I just bought mine. It’s in back order
Would be nice to have the whole crew or the main ones
(Lego)Ships = 😍😍😍😍
The titanic sank and it became a set
The endurance sank and it became a set
ARE WE GETTING SHIPS THAT SUNK?
JAWS SPOILER...the Orca also sunk 🤔
I legit was about to say something like that in the video!
That's an awful long list of sets we'll be getting then. 😆
So can I look forward to a BISMARK set soon? 🤣
Are we getting a submarine?
I was waiting your review to purchase, i know i will then ! It’s looks very good, not perfect but given that the original ship was pretty round to avoid being crushed by ice, it wasn’t possible to make it as flat as the titanic in any way i guess ?
Thanks Tiago !
Is that the boat Stewart little raced on ?
can we pre order it ?
The chances of Lego doing an Edmund Fitzgerald model go up with each nautical themed set released.
I'm not too bothered by the lack of mini figures, or that it's not figure scale. It would simply have to be massive for a figure scale ship. The closest thing I can think of currently is the Ninjago Movie Destiny's Bounty, and that thing still feels cramped even with a full interior.
Going the same route as the fell beast.... should have been part of the set!
Black Sea Barracuda and Caribbean Clipper used string held sails, right? I dunno. It's been a long time.
oke lego i love it, please now make a titanic size imperial flagship ( hms victory style ) i know it wil be very expensive but i would spend my money on it.
Appreciate the kind words, thank you!
Awesome ship! Is it nanofig scaled?
Closer to nano scale than minifigure scale for sure!
No stickers and yet another favorable piece / price ratio ?? I am in 😊. Something changing at LEGO it seems. Maybe they do listen to feedback ?
Fingers crossed!
Thanks for the great review Tiago! Better than some others who just say “wow thanks Lego this is so cool”
When does the gift with purchase event end? I know it’s starts the 29th but what about its end?
How do you keep your lego dustless? I'm currently looking for a solution and wondered what you did to keep it all clean
It would be cool if we got the Lusitania at some point
It was at 3:03 that my jaw dropped, I did not expect this model to have any interior
I guess it’s impressive but interiors that aren’t even minifigure scale always felt pointless to me
Lego HMS Surprise please with Master and Commander Minifigs
It’s nice but Lego sailed ships don’t look quite right to me. I think it’s that the sails aren’t made of bricks but they take up a lot of the view. It makes it look less like a Lego model.
The GWP almost swung it for me. 😂
Why is the steering wheel facing backwards? 🤔
Price is fair and good for display but lack of play feature. Minifigure scale ships are better imo.
How is Endurance IP based its in the public domain?
I really wanna see a paddle steamer set
While Shackleton should have been in the main set the lifeboat desperately needs Frank Worsley who’s nautical skills made the rescue possible in the first place by navigating the lifeboat to South Georgia in one of the most challenging regions in the toughest conditions.
Still looking like a great set
The more Lego makes amazing models of real life vehicles, the more I get upset they don't want to produce any military stuff.
Yeah, I'm also a huge objector of military glorification, but having Lego tanks or Lego battle ships or Lego battle planes would slap so hard.
Then COBI is your answer.
Who needs Lego? Cobi is there for you. A huge line of top-quality military vehicles.
does GWP only applies to physical store or lego website too?
I actually think is LEGO Website only? Do physical stores also have the GWP usually?
@ oh I have no idea. That’s why I am asking. I got gwp 2 times from Lego website. The Christmas tree and Lego penguin if I remember correctly
Yeah, from the website, if there's still copies left, you should always be able to get them.
