In Finland there's an old saying "frost will drive a piglet back home” (= routa ajaa porsaan kotiin). In the old agriculture in the 19th century the pigs could move and eat quite freely during the summer, but when the winter arrived they returned to the farm to be fed. In the modern times it has a meaning that a runaway or a prodigal son will return to home when the harsh reality hits back in the outside world.
Remarkable accidental symmetry. The last Desperation game had Lyla Townes, villain with a religion bent who killed their husband and survived. This Desperation had Ralph Townes, a villain with a religion bent who killed their wife and survived.
I think I need to see the game played a few times to fully grasp the rules, but I enjoyed the characters and atmosphere! Merry Christmas, and looking forward to more CoC. 👍
It's just read the card followed by putting the card on the person you think has said/done the thing described. Then you improvise a bit of flavour and lore to it(about that person, the way they act/think, about their past or about future intent). Also if it tells you to kill off that character(that you pick to put the card on) you put them in the Dead House and they are dead-no longer playable, which basically means they can't get any more cards and can't get the epilogue ending bit they did about the 5 survivors
My playthrough so many months ago now was definitely a little different, though certainly had some similarities with events that aligned very closely with certain characters. I'm pretty sure you guys had more deaths than I did, though I was a little disappointed that you didn't have one of the death cards that we did because you had set it up with one of the tell your truth segments where Sully said he would set the Townes House on fire. There was a death card that was about setting somebody's house on fire and killing those inside, and it would have been amazing if you had gotten it.
*Spoilers below* . . . I was 'mad' that Sullivan killed Velma off. Ralph Townes bragged about being Catholic, so he could have been the one to quote the Bible before dying. After the sorta made Velma a witch and gave her the 'determined' card I was really hoping she'd survive. Also, I sort of wish they would have given Fate a bit more of a supernatural or sinister ending. Him slipping off at the end was great, but I would have had him add something like "Now that my work here is done, and I've claimed enough people." or something along those lines. It would have given his name a bit more irony, and made Telly's pregnancy more ominous!
I get what you mean... I was the same with the ending they got for Isabel and how they killed everyone that was developed as a complex character(in my opinion) whilst sparring the single note cultist hag. But also story wise it makes sense for Ralph to survive given that he was both the anchor point of the town(from physical placement as central house to intrigue/conflicts centre-point, as almost everyone had beef with him). Also I saw Fate less like the demon in BOTC[even though he played like the Leech :)) ] and more like the outsiders that need to play for their own safety/keep themselves hidden and end up giving/creating false information and narratives that can lead the good team astray and even cause it to potentially lose. He gives bandit outlaw/opportunistic serial killer more than supernatural entity or a harbinger of doom(like a representation of the devil or a CoC creature/cultist)
I know we're here for an awesome RPG experience, but is that a crochet legally-distinct beholder (Gnewt, was it?) over Laurie's shoulder?!? SO cute! Edit: Hearing Emily (try to) pronounce Hoosier is hilarious. Ya gotta pretend the s is a z; I am, unfortunately, a Hoosier.
Riffing off the idea Velma couldn’t actually read, I like the idea of a cultist that can’t read but thinks they can. The PCs search for this ‘unholy text’ and ‘tome of blasphemy’ the cultist has been talking about and they just find a battered copy of Treasure Island.
They seem to have fun, but these type of games escape me. I would gladly play one if someone put it on the table, but it just feels like a guided campfire story telling session. Nothing wrong with that at all. Don't take this as any sort of criticism. Just my observation.
@@emilyrln Where was that one? I can't seem to find it. I remember Flabbergasted, which was absolutely mental, but I don't remember that one. Unless it was on the NRB channel? There was Honey Heist, which was very silly indeed, too.
You know there are other channels where you can find TTRPG content, right? You know there are other channels where you can find TTRPG content featuring NRB people, right? You know there are human beings running this channel who deserve to be spoken to politely, right? You know that this content is free, that no one is forcing you to watch it, and that you sound incredibly entitled, right? FFS indeed

Yoo our boys getting the sponsorship bread now
According to the Farmer's Almanac, pigs gathering sticks is in fact one sign pointing to a hard winter.
And Pigs gathering bricks is a sign pointing to high numbers of predators in the area
Beginning of the game happens.
Dom plots how he will make him experience eternal regret.
Remarkable accidental symmetry. The last Desperation game had Lyla Townes, villain with a religion bent who killed their husband and survived. This Desperation had Ralph Townes, a villain with a religion bent who killed their wife and survived.
Look at that, the same crew as "For the Queen"! Thank you for such an early Christmas treat!
I loved both Desperation episodes! And Emily and Lucy are fantastic guests who I'd love to see again and again on the channel!
"I loved that horse, I needed that horse" is something sully would say ;)
Deep lore there 😂
NonononononoNO! 😂
Sully doesn't do himself any favours, just keeps the rumours circulating 😂
"I was good all along!!" underrated plot twist idea~ we have too many secret bad guys, time for secret good guys
Lol the intro 😂 they’re just getting back at Dom for dying constantly at COC 😂
That was savage as hell. XD
Love it. Just like i love apocalypse players.
Dom is a great actor and a perfect leader
Also he doesnt hold a gun against my head
32:20 As an native Hoosier (someone from Indiana), the pronounciation of Hoosier here was pretty funny (hoo·zhr).
The look of betrayal at 41:23 is priceless. Love the interplay for sure!
Who else jumped when they realised the town’s house was like David Townes from the Isabelle
Yay! Emily is back on NRB (I meant Chaotic Neutral :))
Okay, the AD amused me so much I had to click the thumbses up, precious.
Boys in the Valley is an excellent horror novel. Not at all surprised to hear Dom has good taste in horror literature.
Thankfully, my library carries it! The next read for this winter time.
Listening to this while going to sleep then I hear them saying my name 😮
"The Zone" is a personal favorite. It would be wonderful to see what world is created by this group.
i was craving a new chaotic neutral video!!! todays been such a good day
Love that all the older characters eventually blended into Livia Soprano and Frank Underwood 😄
Absolutely adore this crew! Your chemistry together is amazing for this style of RPG. 😂
As someone from Indiana, the way "Hoosiers" was pronounced made me laugh.
Agreed! I'm also from Indiana. Way to go guys getting the sport right as well!
That intro alone LOL
A very welcome treat for the season! This is such a good concept for a game, elevated by the caliber of those playing!
i love these so much! maybe @Chaotic Neutral would do multiple play-throughs of the Desperation games? 😮😮
I think I need to see the game played a few times to fully grasp the rules, but I enjoyed the characters and atmosphere!

Still sounds complicated, but thanks for explaining.

I absolutely loved this. Well done guys! ❤
I love this cast so much. Always so much fun
A nice lighthearted story for the season! Happy Holidays Chaotic Neutral gang!
It's neutral, it's chaotic! It's chaotic neutral!
This is pure 🔥🔥🔥.

Did not see this coming but I will totally take this as an early Holiday break present.
Was the sound really weird for anyone else? It was mostly very quiet and then very loud at points. Made it quite hard to listen to :(
I grew up in this area and I can confirm this is what Missouri/Kansas is like.
45:14 what book is dom taking about I would love to read it?
Boys in the Valley by Philip Fracassi
Ah, so close. Was hoping for a For the Queen rematch
oh my god yes. I'm so excited for this
I needed this video today lol 🙇
I LOVED The Boys in the Valley!
They're BACK
We all love Dom!
Great job ❤🎉
I really thought the ad was going to be for marvel rivals lmao
Which book was it, Dom, which book?!
I need to rewatch the other desperation. I don't remember it being this damn good! (I'm sure it was, I just don't remember)
Yes let’s goooo

Those poor people…
new comeback unlocked the rest of you is printed
Im a desperate man myself.
Your sponsor's pretty luck to get you.
Fucking hell finally, where the hell were you guys?
The oscillating voiume level is really annoying
Hey, you all know that there are TTRPGs that aren't horror themed, right? FFS..
Blair was part of a oneshot set in a village of animals preparing for a party! Something like Bloom or Blossom in the name, maybe?
