Idk if they're planning on doing more but if they are, Ross was the perfect choice for first in. He's got that perfect mix of clueless while being 100% willing to do anything for the bit
It... was framed that way? Like, this is pretty clearly based on the format of Murder in Successville, from BBC Three, or the US Netflix adaptation, Murderville.
Dogvision Hornby's motives are beyond your understanding. He expertly sussed out that the narcissistic woman killed her husband, he knew she would get her comeuppance via the criminal justice system. He had his sights on a bigger fish - a crime syndicate that has destroyed the poor by flooding the 'End with cheap synthetic drugs. His experience told him that even with a recorded confession and two policemen's testimonies, the rich druglord would never see the inside of a cell, so he took justice into his own hands... our vigilante hero Hornby Mangione.
when he pulled down the mask and it was Ben I felt like it was a massive m. shamalayan twist for no reason other than not knowing it was him before lol
It was really well done. You could have figured it from the hand usage, or the car, or from clown literacy. Three paths to the truth if you're keen enough to notice them.
Agreed! I noticed some of the things they brought up but I didn't put them together. They were so subtle, but clicked together so well. I feel like that's exactly how a murder mystery like this SHOULD work. Everything is there and it all makes so much sense when it's pointed out, but it's really subtle things that are easy to miss. I wish they'd have shown us the letter, though. They use his wife being able to spell as evidence, but we never see the letter that is spelled correctly.
The camera work is the best I've seen in ANY Yogs video to date. The acting is hilarious, the outfits, editing, sets, everything is perfect. Incredible job to everyone involved in the making of, 100/10.
I was genuinely impressed with just the basic-level cinema quality of this, as a production. It was super slick. And you know what, Yogs or not, comedy or not, the 'acting' wasn't even bad, everybody took it 'just' seriously enough!
I'm only a few minutes in, and really enjoying the fact everything is actually in focus - constant missed focus has been a bit of a letdown on some of their past stuff
Would love to see them network with Cyr and do some roleplay skits together lol. I feel like his chaotic energy and commitment to the bit would fit right in with the Hat boys.
To be fair, that's a reasonable guess to make when the police show up and tell you your husband is dead and they're investigating it. Especially since she words it "Are you telling me, he's- he's been murdered!?" I feel like that very well could be someone just asking for clarification. Though, considering how well everything else was placed, it may very well have been an intentional "slip up" on Lydia's part.
Fantastic job! Having Ross go in blind and try to figure out the case while also playing a role is such a novel idea. Well executed, too. I dont think I've seen anything like this yet.
I genuinely cried laughing towards the end with Ross going "You're going down man", I still can't see properly lol please do more of this, Ross shines in this role
I didn't even make it a single minute in before Harry walked in the door yelling and I started laughing so hard I started crying. This may be a 40 minute video but it's gonna take me double that to get through from needing to pause from laughing too hard.
I was a video editor and colorist for close to a decade and I love what you've done with the color. Those opening scenes with the purplish hues I tried to get people to use a lot, but it was always too intense for them. Great work.
This was the best thing I’ve ever seen from the Yogscast in ages. Everyone brought their A game. Ross and Humes were particularly hilarious. I haven’t laughed out loud so much over a vid in ages. Top tier - well done
I’ve been following this channel since SoI more or less started and I gotta say, I’ve been dying for this. You have so many talented people, I love seeing all the work come together. You guys can pull off fully scripted or improv content really well if you utilize what you have! GG! Ross Peru is da man!
This was amazing. I have no doubt in my mind that Hulmes was having the time of his life spouting random nonsense. "If I was your dad, I'd kiss you on the mouth," bloody hell hahaha.
This was so funny I loved all of it! Everyone putting their acting skills to the test was great to see, and Ross as the protagonist was a great choice!
This is my favourite thing you guys have done since Master Tasker. Truly fantastic, and Ross was a great choice for the rookie detective. Also love Lydia as the widowed fancy lady, but she's always the best. And I'm pretty sure she didn't do it. No, she's far too wealthy and fancy to be guilty of anything.
Only 11 minutes in.. boba's bit was sooo funny. The accent, the wine spilling everywhere, the ca--- noises, and Mark having Ross mimic her to try to figure out what it was (I honestly thought it was a cat.. even after her noises.. only figured it was a car cause they said so afterwards haha)
Its been arpund 10 seconds and im already losing it laughing. Boba unexpected crazy good acting skills, should have guessed given how good she is on mystery quest
I'll be honest. I wasn't going into this with super high hopes. IMO the Yogscast live action stuff is very hit or miss, but the "Did you have this pre-written? Are you some kind of magician!?" Line really cracked me up. At that point I was sold.
This might be some of the best content put out along with disposing of the bear. Everyone was so good. Ross did such a good job going along with the bits and bravo Humes
this was honestly great. incredible writing, acting was fantastic but not too serious, short enough that it didnt drag but long enough that it told the story well. fantastic, i will watch it again im sure
Ross may have committed murder and failed to solve the case *but* he did save Bell End from the scourge of rainbow, so mission half successful? Absolutely fantastic, I really hope DI Crime returns in the future with a new rookie and crime to solve because Mark killed it (heh) in the role
This is 100000x better than Murderville because Ross actually understands the format and has improv skills 😂😂😂 Murderville was super awkward because the guest selection and prep work was AWFUL
If you haven't seen murder in succussville the show that inspired murderville go watch and is great, this video really captures what made the original so good and really hoping the yogs make more.
This was great!! Loved everyone's character, especially Lydia's, her fixing her makeup between tears really made me laugh XD And I love the way everything was explained at the end with the chief coming in to such a chaotic scene those two created, haha, this is such a fun format for a murder mystery video!
I want watch this as series with ever expanding worldbuilding. Everytime a cop 'player' fails someone else replaces him as the new guy until they fail.
Ive been watching the yogscast for a decade and idk any other channel that does special projects so varied and creative and fun!! With well done production and yet all the unprofessionalism of the yogscast

Idk if they're planning on doing more but if they are, Ross was the perfect choice for first in. He's got that perfect mix of clueless while being 100% willing to do anything for the bit
He's like a comedy straight man who is simultaneously all in on the "yes and", it's great.
Literally came to the comments to say this. As soon as I saw ol' dog-vision hornby I knew I was in for a treat!
The Jason Bateman of the Yogscast @@nakenmil
Almost anything - he'll dress in a clown outfit, but there is a line!
I’d love more of this stuff and more of this duo, idk how much of the dialogue was scripted but it was so funny. I’d be a member for this
genuinely this could have been framed as a crime sitcom, everyone does such a good job. ross is hilarious as a main character :)
It... was framed that way?
Like, this is pretty clearly based on the format of Murder in Successville, from BBC Three, or the US Netflix adaptation, Murderville.
@@Unagodd I guess they meant Ross as a recurrent lead character, rather than a 'one-off' in Murder in Successville style
@@Unagodd I remember watching murder in successville all in one night. BBC 3 had nothing else to put on at 3am
You can always trust good ol' Ross "No Limits" Hornby.
You guys are talking about legendary Minecraft player Woss_?
Was Ross genuinely meant to try work this out because at absolutely no point did it seem like he was doing anything except enjoying himself
I thought the same. As if he wasn't instructed that he would need to figure out the mystery.
I thought they both were.
I think he did try but stopped collecting evidence 5 seconds after reading the note on the body 😂
5:46 the photographer noticing the knife after they pointed at it was such a tiny but hilarious detail
when he pulled down the mask and it was Ben I felt like it was a massive m. shamalayan twist for no reason other than not knowing it was him before lol
The reveal was unironically so well written. The worldbuilding, the clue laying, so perfect.
It was really well done. You could have figured it from the hand usage, or the car, or from clown literacy. Three paths to the truth if you're keen enough to notice them.
Agreed! I noticed some of the things they brought up but I didn't put them together. They were so subtle, but clicked together so well. I wish they'd have shown us the letter, though. They use his wife being able to spell as evidence, but we never see the letter that is spelled correctly.
"argh my stabbing hand" 😂😂😂
I love ben doing some ben work in the background and moving all of the evidence around, so it looks good on the pictures.
Ross just randomly joining in the police brutality at 14:18 is hilarious. "RAINBOW!"
That was one of my favorite bits besides him waving a gun around as a clown
Any reason to smother Trott with a pillow hahaha
The camera work is the best I've seen in ANY Yogs video to date. The acting is hilarious, the outfits, editing, sets, everything is perfect. Incredible job to everyone involved in the making of, 100/10.
Definitely, if it weren't for all the jokes it could be straight out of a Touch of Frost or something.
I was genuinely impressed with just the basic-level cinema quality of this, as a production. It was super slick. And you know what, Yogs or not, comedy or not, the 'acting' wasn't even bad, everybody took it 'just' seriously enough!
Totally agree. Ross and Humes were incredible.
I'm only a few minutes in, and really enjoying the fact everything is actually in focus - constant missed focus has been a bit of a letdown on some of their past stuff
"there will be no more chuckles" damn that's such a fucking good line
Laughed and snortes at that line 10/10
Yeah and it was perfectly delivered too.
Ross has always been an excellent straight man with a very silly edge, fantastic choice, very fun
some of the best straight men are the ones you begin to realize are just as unhinged as everyone around them
@@Wub-rv9xx Lewis is a great example of this
Are we sure he's straight?
Is this the greatest thing in Yogscast history? A possible hypothesis.
we definitely needed a rythian hard boiled voice over
@@MieGamingMain Absolutely need this!
After a few minecraft series
A detective detuctive scenario WITHOUT Rythians TTT voice over? HERESY
Briony literally swallwed a laugh at 31:42 - so professional not to break character while Ravs strokes his T-Rex 😂
the crimescene photographer who didn't see the knive sticking out the back until pointed out ;p fantastic
just Ben doing benwork. I swear he’s good at it 😂
big ups to Daf for having his face in that cake for what must have been ages
That was bozo, and more like dig ups, if you wanna see that corpse again.
and not forget the knife in his back
I think they just found him like that normally and made a whole show about it
This is absolutely amazing, watching Ross' mind just go purely plank as he tried to think of a response at 21:20 really made me laugh
Absolute Cinema
Mark did such an amazing job. His improv skills carried the whole video
Yogs have a future in skits. This is fucking hilarious. Ross shouting the safe word himself and immediately smothering Trott had me howling.
Would love to see them network with Cyr and do some roleplay skits together lol. I feel like his chaotic energy and commitment to the bit would fit right in with the Hat boys.
And a past
@@MDG-mykys Facts, people forget they've been doing this for years lol, hell, even The Shadow of Israphel is basically one big comedy skit.
I realised who the killer was the second they said "Chuckles is dead" and the reply was "he's been murdered?!?"
Christ, Ross voluntarily and apropos of nothing just shouting rainbow so he has an excuse to smother Trott? Instant classic.
Ross was so committed to the bit that he forgot what he was actually supposed to be doing
Fantastic job! Having Ross go in blind and try to figure out the case while also playing a role is such a novel idea. Well executed, too. I dont think I've seen anything like this yet.
You should watch Murder in Successville as that is what this is based on. It's great!
@domcruise Thanks! I wasn't aware of that show.
Feels like poor Ross got so caught up in the entertainment he forgot about solving the mystery lol. RIP Ravs.
"These boots were made for walking - clown walking" is one of the single greatest lines ever said
I genuinely cried laughing towards the end with Ross going "You're going down man", I still can't see properly lol please do more of this, Ross shines in this role
I think when clowns work for free it's called Pro Bozo
Astounding
I didn't even make it a single minute in before Harry walked in the door yelling and I started laughing so hard I started crying. This may be a 40 minute video but it's gonna take me double that to get through from needing to pause from laughing too hard.
"Is it... terrrrrminal?"
holy shit Ross I'm wheezing
31:43 Briony had to reach into the depths of her misery to hold that laugh
A heroic effort.
I think I would just die if somebody told me "You've got the makings of a really good podcaster or youtuber"
Watching these people trying to make each other laugh while trying not to laugh themselves is an absolute treat. Fabulous stuff.
Ross shouting rainbow just to smother Trott 😂😂
I was a video editor and colorist for close to a decade and I love what you've done with the color. Those opening scenes with the purplish hues I tried to get people to use a lot, but it was always too intense for them. Great work.
Ross finally putting all his practice in the scouse accent to good use
This was ASTOUNDINGLY FANTASTIC. I freaking lost it at Lydia's howling and laughed the whole way through.
This was insanely funny to watch. Ross is the perfect member for this subjugation, Mark too!!
4:27 That entire interaction is magical! Mark inhabits his character so insanely well
"f*** meeee" 😂
I was absolutely terrified of the way Boba was swinging around that wine but I'm glad to see that she got to hurl it at Daf
A doff of my clown hat to Matt, a director credit? Man doing some WORK! This goes hard, I sense sequel potential
What a perfect cop duo
Lol ross' acting was actually really good. This reminds me of the Detectives comedy with jasper carrot.
holy shit I fucking lost it with wino Boba spilling her wine on the evidence
Boba's accent was amazing, and it seemed like she didnt mean to throw the wine around at first but then just leaned into it, perfect
This was the best thing I’ve ever seen from the Yogscast in ages. Everyone brought their A game. Ross and Humes were particularly hilarious. I haven’t laughed out loud so much over a vid in ages. Top tier - well done
Ross making himself laugh saying Richard “Dick’s” name 😂

The puppet bit was phenomenal, that alone could be an amazing sketch.
„I‘m just a lad from Glasgow“ fcking killed me. Ravs is a fcking national treasure
What a great production! So funny from start to finish. Well done!
Holy shit this was amazing! I still remember when Ross was shy in front of a camera. 100/10 love loved everything about this! 💖💖
I have been a fan of the Yogscast since right after their WoW days. This might be my favorite video they have ever posted
This was so funny I loved all of it! Everyone putting their acting skills to the test was great to see, and Ross as the protagonist was a great choice!
I can imagine the amount of work this required, props to you guys for pulling it off!

Also love Lydia as the widowed fancy lady, but she's always the best. And I'm pretty sure she didn't do it. No, she's far too wealthy and fancy to be guilty of anything.
The amount of clown lore is hilarious 😂 Content like this is why I stay a member.
"drugs and crime go together like eggs and ham" profound
loved this, ross was a great choice!! hope to see more like it :D
I passed my driving test today; this is a fantastic reward for my success!
Congratulations!
I thought it was a full skit! I loved it even more after knowing Ross had no idea on what was going on lmao. Can't wait for future episodes ❤
The rainbow bit was so absolutely perfect.
Stuff like this is why I became a member. Yogs doing creative IRL stuff has always been their best content.
Only 11 minutes in.. boba's bit was sooo funny. The accent, the wine spilling everywhere, the ca--- noises, and Mark having Ross mimic her to try to figure out what it was

LYDIA THAT WAS PERFECT
Its been arpund 10 seconds and im already losing it laughing. Boba unexpected crazy good acting skills, should have guessed given how good she is on mystery quest

This was so freaking good, loved every second of it! Everyone's acting was on point. 10/10 will watch again and force my friends to watch
12:29 I literally thought "rainbow" in my head then ross said it. That HIve Mind must be taking over...
I love yogscast irl stuff and I thought murderville was hilarious - this is just an excellent combination, it fits so well together
9:33 Boba says "hard and seek." Changes the discussion entirely. 😂
lol Trott's DAMAGED tattoo is backwards. like he wrote it himself in the mirror
clowns can't write :(

this was honestly great. incredible writing, acting was fantastic but not too serious, short enough that it didnt drag but long enough that it told the story well. fantastic, i will watch it again im sure
Ravs deserves couple Oscars for that insanity
They cut a LOT of hilarious stuff. Y'all needta watch the members cut I'm just saying, it's worth lmao
that was so good, i really hope you do more of these!
man harry looks so unrecognisable with his hair done up. almost didn't know that was him till i heard his voice

Absolutely fantastic, I really hope DI Crime returns in the future with a new rookie and crime to solve because Mark killed it (heh) in the role
Ross! I know that one. A crime fighter yes, detective yes, mixed martial artist yes. This was fantastic!
This is 100000x better than Murderville because Ross actually understands the format and has improv skills 😂😂😂 Murderville was super awkward because the guest selection and prep work was AWFUL

Amazing stuff. Watched both this and the extended version. And I got to say both are good. The extened cut ties in very good as well.
Just got to the end credits.. love how you used the real names (of people we know the names of.. so basically everyone except boba and breeh)
This was awesome and hilarious the whole time haha. What a good dynamic duo haha. All the characters were great!
This was great!! Loved everyone's character, especially Lydia's, her fixing her makeup between tears really made me laugh XD And I love the way everything was explained at the end with the chief coming in to such a chaotic scene those two created, haha, this is such a fun format for a murder mystery video!
“There will be no more chuckles” 😂
How dare this be as entertaining as it was. Ross had the perfect deadpan to make this thing work.
Don’t know how much of it was the balloon dinosaur but Ravs was giving major Richard Attenborough vibes here. This was truly incredible!
Ross played this so perfectly!! I love the commitment to the bit but genuine confusion always
Ross was the perfect choice for this. Total gold 😂
THIS IS FANTASTIC!!! Please do more of this! Production quality is incredible and I love to see the hat boiks here!
Honestly one of, if not the best things the yogscast ever made this was great.
I want watch this as series with ever expanding worldbuilding. Everytime a cop 'player' fails someone else replaces him as the new guy until they fail.
I love murder in successvile and seeing Ross in this Role was absolutely perfect. Production and the rest of the cast was top notch as well
Ive been watching the yogscast for a decade and idk any other channel that does special projects so varied and creative and fun!! With well done production and yet all the unprofessionalism of the yogscast
I don't care this has to have a series and mark and Ross have to be the protagonists they HAVE TO BE 😂
I love it when Lydia plays the window of a rich husband xD
Amazing work from everyone involved.. I think this is the best high effort production to come from the yogscast
