I built a 427 ( 464.72 ) FORD Medium Rise with Aluminum, etc,. All I could afford. Ran Perfect 👍, 1957 FORD CUSTOM 300 - 2 Dr. Sedan , Canadian With ALL the Chrome Package , 3430 Lbs. FUN!
I met Ed Pink backstage at a Detroit Motorsports Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony at the Fillmore (then called the State Theater) in 2012-2013 or so. I had grown up reading Hot Rod magazines, and I clearly remembered an article about one of Ed Pink's dragsters called "Bucks Up Racer", so when I met him I was thrilled to say the least.
Love the history especially in S. California. I grew up in ELA and in 1955 went to the Santa Ana airfield turned drag-strip with a friends brother in his new 1955 Plymouth V-8, 3 speed. At the strip, people were just standing around with races going on here and there in the wide open spaces of that ex-airfield. I was 14 then and this event was my introduction to street rodding and have not laid down my wrenches since. We were big on Olds V-8s back then; cheap, plentiful torque monsters, dropped into various Fords and GM cars turning them into sleepers; our best one was a 1953 Ford Victoria HT with 345ci Olds bored an 1/8” + 2 AFB’s & 4-s Hydramatic, had to add PS and a 9” out of a station wagon and then it was good to go and go it did drinking 30c/gal Custom Supreme 100 octane. Mechanics is good exercise in my cadaver years and as long as my bod holds out, will continue to maintain and cruize around San Diego county in my 327/4-s Deuce roadster...
Ed Pink built a lot of the engines for the Barry Setzer Vega funny car in 1971. He sure went through a lot of Pink elephants. The drag racers would say a Barry Setzer "tune-up" consisted of a short block and heads.
Robo voice has a verystrange rhythm and mispronunciations like A-----delbrock not Edelbrock. So much of this stuff happened in L A. And its opening shot talks a lot about the Chrysler Hemi, all the while showing a Ford 427 Cammer. But I like it anyway.
Went to high school with Ed's daughter, Nancy. The nickname then (1973) was" the Silver Fox", but Charlie Rich ruined that for him. Ed was so cool and high school auto shop with history in the neighborhood was great! Wow, 50 years goes by FAST!
So did I. Grew up in Woodland Hills and graduated from El Camino in 1974. I remember Nancy well. I remember her weaing a "tank top" that said "Think Pink" with a picture of a Dodge Hemi with a supercharger.
Yes the compuvoice I trying. Nothing to translate here. Ed pink. Cool stuff. So many names. My uncle had a jimmy siv he raced up against Micky Thompson with a flat head. My uncle won that race. Don't see many of those engines.A policeman in Montebello is a nephew to Mazmanian. (neat little tidbit) lots of racing heritage in .,L....A . Pete and Jake's was just a couple blocks away the Temple City they had closed shop when I moved there as a sophomore in high school. There was still some old crap behind the place I suppose would be worth gold these days. It's the last year for the Dodge muscle cars essentially. Kind of hard to accept.
I agree, the computer voice suks. When you were talking about Pink and Chrysler Hemi’s and showing a Ford SOHC. I got disgusted and left. Credible info? I think not 😐
0:53 - Talks about Ed's engine of choice being a Chrysler 426 hemi, shows picture of Ed working on a Ford 427 cammer. Brilliant. Between that and the annoying AF narration... Moving right along.
The shameful robotic voice just destroys the whole point of telling a life story. The stupid robot can't even comprehend where to begin and end sentences. Furthermore: even though this video is only 2 months old as of May '23, it leaves out a lot of what Ed Pink has been doing in recent years, such as his son Bill's successful business: PINK CARBURATORS. Best racing carbs on the planet, hands down. Also: Ed's famous shop has been taken from him through the law/ordinance known as "eminent domain". He has been forced to sell his shop, as the property has been slated for construction of something new, I can't recall what it is though. So they are going to demolish Ed's historic racing shop. Perhaps it has already been demolished as of this comment.
The F'n Robot narrator says that Pinks favorite engine was the Chrysler 426 Hemi as the video simultaneously shows a 427 Ford SOHC engine............ Who makes this crap?!?!?
Ditch the computer narration ! It's disrespectful to the subjects of the videos.
So is the slide presentation showing FORD 427 Cammer engines instead of the Chrysler 426 Hemi’s!!!
IDIOTS!
It's ridiculous!
Agreed, every time he said Evo, I wanted to scream.
Ed Pink deserves better than this!
Yes it's ridiculous!
Well look who showed the video. Theses Jacks!! “Competition Plus T.V. Needs to make one of Ed. They have done a great job on all the Originals🏁😎👍

Talks about Ed Pink's love for the Chrysler hemi while showing a Ford cammer.
and flatheads and chevy motors and mispronouncing names. a little more editing would have been nice.
No shit, that's as far as I made it.
Thanx fer the computer narration!!! movin on.....

I think it's a computer generated voice
@@rtelles1127 you think?
Tommy "E"vo ? "A"delbrock ? Is that the best you can do?
Ed pink I worship him, legendary, I use all his tricks on my motors, no one understands why they don't fail lol
I worked for Ed, an amazing and talented individual
I didn't know they still have text to speech this bad.

Cool Ed story, but next do it in your own voice, and put the Robo dude in the trash please. It's as annoying as the Ma Feeuh ones to liss in to.
Suffered to 3 mintues, the robo voice is to obnoxious
I had ENOUGH when Mr. AI kept calling Tommy Ivo "EVO" and stopped.
I can't believe I get the first comment, I've heard of him but that all

My understanding is that Porsches Reimagined by "Singer" use Pink motors.
Saw one in Montréal in a Pfaff owned Singer, blew me away to see that.
The flat-six we see being assembled will probably go in a Singer Porsche.

This. Is. Very. Annoying.....Can't. Watch.....
Or....
Listen.... to what
He is
Say....
Ing....
Can't watch this...the audio sucks so bad. Remaster with a human.
Interesting
Could only watch a few minutes, the computer generated narration is terrible! Too bad, the Old Master is one of my favorite front engine rails.
Who’s Vic Aaidelbrock and does he live in L…aye?
where did Fonzie get his speed parts?
AAAYYYYYYdelbrock...
engine looked like a cammer to me
I can't listen to this robo voice, sadly.

How about having a real person telling these storys. Then i would want to subscribe thanks.
Is it possible a human could speak this is terrible
Fake CGI voice kills it!
Thumbs down, sorry!
Computer narration for the loss.
The F'n Robot narrator says that Pinks favorite engine was the Chrysler 426 Hemi as the video simultaneously shows a 427 Ford SOHC engine............ Who makes this crap?!?!?
Is that Glendale Gary nararating?
All the effort of writing the script and handing it off to robovoice. 2 min in, Im out, I'd rather listen to a story narrated by a 6 year old
made about 30 seconds into video.ruined it with the computer voice sad
Human narration would make this a great video. The computer narration makes it unwatchable.
Talk about butchering a name with computer narration.
Sorry can't handle the bot narrator
Stopping video at 1 minute. Get a human voice!!!
Fake commentator
Robo Voice, Not worth the first 5 seconds I wasted...
Just slo zoom . ? Ouch
WTF
