In the beginning of this interview, he asks Tony about making albums after the first one. The answer to this question, of course is: There is a huge difference between writing six albums VERSUS using cover songs for six albums. Any singer can come up with six albums, much easier by doing cover songs, than the can having to write six albums worth of material. Tony DID NOT WRITE. Of course it was easy for him to come up with boatloads of albums, because he would just have ten or more writers doing the songwriting for him. This is way different than The Beatles comming up with six albums. The Beatles had to do the work, not only of performing the tunes, but WRITING the songs, as well. They were doing way more work than Tony was doing, in comming up with any album. The public is largely oblivious to the difference between people who write their own songs, and people that cover songs. And the difference is huge between these two types of performers. No, Elvis never wrote songs. Parker slapped Elvis' name as a cowriter on other people's work, so that Elvis (and the Colonel) would get some of the publishing money. Elvis did not write. It was easy for him to come up with an albums worth of songs because all he had to do was choose between the work that the songwriters had already done. Tony had a great voice. He was a charming performer. But don't confuse what he did, with those that write their own songs. Roy Orbison was doing twice as much work as Tony. This is just a fact. I love to hear Tony sing. His presentation of himself is always warm and friendly. He was amazing. He was a role model for singers. But keep things real.
