Thanks Trey for the awesome feedback and for picking my song to win in August! I have come a long way as a musician over the past few years and it is largely thanks to your content, Friday streams, and song writing course! Well done to all the submissions in Aug, especially Purple H3arts - Jaded! which is absolutely top notch!
grats nick
Congrats dude.
\m/
Congratulations! Enjoy all the new gear coming your way! 🤘
Good work Nick 🤘
Not gonna lie... I still have "I'm a rockin' dino" stuck in my head.
Super excited for this month's entries. "BusyCore" is my favorite genre.
Noooo 127Core for life!
I'm just happy my song made it through the first chorus. /Mike Frisk
Cottonmouth sounds like Periphery at home and I’m all for it
Dude! I love how this video was put together how you showcase last month's winners and went into detail! And actually played some of the tracks so we knew what you were talking about we are musicians not Librarians we don't know how to read LOL
The Cyclothymic song had no defining structure, it sounded like a fever dream and too repetitive. I was anticipating a huge lifting chorus and a rhythmic change
I’ll try to do better next time 😅 thanks for the input !
It had all the ingredients to be a compelling banger - so close! Keep at it !
@@aliensporebomb thanks a lot mate 🤘
Forg yeah! My song made it
CAN'T WAIT FOR YOUR LYRICS COURSE !!!!!
Signed up, and now I wait.
Tofu's song sounds like closure in moscow and polyphia did a collab
Definitely was thinking CIM too, on top of the obvious Polyphia influence to start
Last song was silly Opeth on drugs, I liked it.
The last song immediately made me think Ron Jarzombek too!
Thanks! I never heard of Ron Jarzombek until now. He is way better than I will ever be! :D
3:45 Honestly this would be fun for a kids album.
Oh jeeeeez, the prizes are stunning!
That last song was cool dammit!! Best one in this episode imo, even the tiny bit we heard lol 🤘
Thanks! I really enjoyed making the song and I think it turned out great! That's all that matters to me....I'm glad you liked it.
First show of September. Looking forward to see what this month brings :D Maybe A Trail Of Sin, who knows :D
Congratz to the winners!!
Let's get the strong entrys over with so when I enter the contest there's only weak competitors ok
"Cottonmouth" is straight up Bob Seger's "Get Out of Denver" cadence with new words and guitar stunts in the place of actual music.
Thanks for the feedback. Can't honestly say Bob Seger was an influence for this song.
@@EerieSoundStudio It happens, as we've all seen by the recent lawsuits. It could have been subconscious or there are rhythms and cadences that the human brain just gravitates to.
It was just something I noticed. It's good to know it wasn't intentional.
@@TribalGuitars it's funny, I thought I was rapping! Lol
That's great!
Paper H3arts is phenomenal, Brian is absolutely a phenomenal vocalist. Only songwriter I ever worked with that just "got it" and understood on the same level. Huge respect, and he's a very humble and kind person in general.
"Rockasaurus Rex" got me LOLing, so I'll give it that. I liked "Lights Out" quite a bit, but the chorus felt like it ended too soon, somehow. "Vitabrew" was... intriguing. I didn't mind it being almost through-composed, but I agree that it felt a bit _too_ busy.
Not as good a start as August, that's for sure, but OK nonetheless.
i must have rewatched you laughing at his name being Tofu, like 10 times lol nearly spat my coffee at my screen.
The Polyphia clones are straight up AI as well
Awesome, my song made it on the show! Everyone vote...or else cottonmouth will come and getcha!
Congratulations to the August winners - don't forget to vote for your favorite this week in my Discord: discord.gg/V5qjAKetZ
Invalid serverlink :/ I can't get on to vote :*(
Hey Trey, is the contest closed for new entries? This Canadian “Poor Boy” has got a new groove 😎 (took your advice, and got a banger for ya)
Christopher Vascquez / Tofu = Vitabrew. Damn. Id actually listen to this. Vocalist will have a career in music.
Do you know if these guys have other music? I was super into what was shown here but I can't find them anywhere!
"Gong a bunch of garbage" seems like a great t-shirt.
"For feeding time" at the end scared the shit out of my cat haha
does anyone else get "dick chili" stuck in their head randomly? cant be just me right?
Justin Polyphilake was kinda cool
So, correct me if I"m wrong but, if I submitted a song in August and you didn't play it, does this mean I should submit another song for September? OR will you eventually get to my first one? Just asking.
No you don't have to submit again
The backlog is seriously like nine months, he'll get to yours eventually
Ah Kay
🎵🎶 Ssmmmoooke on the wateeeerr 🎶🎵
BUTT ROCK HAHAHA I'm so glad I'm not the only person that uses that phrase
Sup music people!! Can't wait to hear my song on here some day!!
Can anyone tell me how to submit a song? I went to the gear, gods page, but didn’t see the form…
Submitted in January or February, someday my time will come 😂
I wonder how Kenneth is gonna feel by the end of this contest..
RON JARZOMBEK IS MY GUITAR TEACHER!
Might need to disqualify everyone whose primary instrument is the guitar.
don't give me any ideas
🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖🦖
Man, that dude who said "your beloved topline" has some real nerve lol. Don't blame you for gonging him, he came across as a real dick.
Fyi, your discord link is invalid. Invite links expire unless you click 'edit invite link' and then select for them to never expire
fixed
Cyclothymic rocks! I Don't really understand why it has been disqualified though...Anyway guitar riffs are awesome. The best of this week.
Because the vocal part was literally not something he wrote, it was pre-made from a Splice pack
Cyclothymic needs a better chorus. The track sounds cool, modern but different.
I will be well surprised if anything beats 'Cyclothymic' this month. Just saying. It cooks, well. I agree with the adjustment of vocal level.
Spoiler that song isn’t winning anything because it got disqualified (Trey explains why on the Discord)
Does a catchy riff negate the need for a topline?? if i asked 20 people to tell me how iron man sounds. i guarantee most would sing the guitar riff. Can someone break the rules and still make a catchy song? genuine question by the way \m/
You're asking two separate questions. A catchy riff isn't a song, but if you write a catchy song that includes a catchy riff, that is a song
1. there are no rules (except in this contest) 2. catchy is catchy, if it's catchy then that's it, you did it. It's not about whether someone will let you do it, it's whether you're capable of doing it. I just haven't seen it yet except once (see point #4) 3. Iron Man is a garbage song, they let the coolness of the riff seduce them into thinking they didn't need anything else to be good 4. 96 Quite Bitter Beings is a better example, they knew they had written the greatest riff of all time and let the absolute nuke of a riff be the chorus
Trey did you make it so people can't make entries into the contest anymore? or do you have to lose before the application page will show up again?
HI
