This is such a great song! It feels emotional and nostalgic and I love the melody and the vocals and the atmosphere.

Man...just hearing Brad's voice after he past away....it feels so...haunting. Like a spirit rising from the grave...

I only have this motto concerning Boston band: "I like Boston, no matter what!" And I for sure don't care what people might think or say about Boston music or how they changed over the years, I will still listen to their music and still love it with all my heart and soul.

Very somber, powerful song - with classic Boston chord changes and transitions. Brad Delp nailed the vocals perfectly. He has that soft, subtle vibrato that noone can match.

For those of you who don't like the 'new' Boston, consider this: Do all STYX albums sound alike? No. Do all Aerosmith albums sound alike? No. Do all Def Leppard or Eagles sound alike? No! Groups change. People change. They grow. I don't expect Boston to sound like it did almost 40 years ago! It's fairly close, but why would you want it to sound exactly the same? I know, I love those old songs too, but it's not 1976-77 anymore. I'm 50 years old now, and I'm not the same person I was when I first heard Foreplay/Long Time, or Don't Look Back. They aren't the same either. As Jeff Sell said, things have changed with Boston. Let it be, and enjoy the new music. It's not perfect, but neither are any of us. Just listen...

pg1171 There's one huge flaw in your agrument. Tom Scholz himself has said that this album was a deliberet attempt to sound like 70's era Boston, even going so far as to record on the same gear he used in 1976 (you can Google it.) He completely lost his mind making the music unlistenable. Music is subjective, but how can the production get worse over time? Those other bands you listed at least use real drums.

Change isn't automatically good. Too bad this wasn't the first album and the order of albums was released backwards. This way, we'd see the band evolve rather than devolve into this dumpster fire.

Wow - this is cool - I think I remember Bradley played a bit of this at a ski territory on my guitar on a Beatle Juice weekend. Going into the chorus "Sail Away." I liked it then and I like it now hearing it all worked out! He'd sing so many incidental things over the years in our cars, at rehearsals - just here and there. I thought I'd never hear it again - so THANK YOU, TOM. Your genius is greatly appreciated! It's one of the finest testaments to our planet (and not just the planet of rock music) to know and hear the admiration you both had for each another.

Gotta' say, I was "iffy" about the new lineup(s) since Brad's suicide. But I just got back from seeing them live and I have to admit it was one of the best concerts I've ever seen... they were so tight, musically and tonally. I really miss Brad's vocals, but Tommy is a great fit for the band. No one will ever be able to replace Brad, but Tommy does an incredible job.

andy ross Its not Boston, its Tom Scholz & friends solo project since hes the only origonal member left in the band. He already fired David Victor and Kimberly Dahm.

Im not one to post many comments but im really getting tired of seeing all of the BOSTON haters, and not just on the new album, but on the bands current lineup, about DeCarlo, and various other things. Lets tackle the first major issue of people saying that BOSTON is no better then a tribute band. Boston pretty much started out as Brad Delp and Tom Scholz, you can argue that there were more, but the truth is if tom could play every single instrument he would have with brad singing so others were fill in to make the sound. By math standards that leaves 50% of the original band remaining. Also, for the 50% not remaining, unfortunately Delp is not with us anymore so its impossible to have him singing with the band now, Scholz spends all of his time mixing and putting together the albums, sets up the tours, and puts together the most amazing sound on stage when they play, Scholz and Delp are Boston and since Delp is no longer with us, Scholz is Boston, by himself and anyone who says otherwise isnt a true fan, nor a good critic. Last year i saw Foreigner in concert and they had no original members on stage at the show because the only one left was sick, they were a lot more cocky and they charged a shit load more than BOSTON and BOSTON sounds much better. They dont play huge venues, they dont charge ridiculous prices and they put on one hell of a show, exactly as they should with their current lineup, if they were trying to ask for venues with 50,000 + and charging astronomical ticket prices, then okay i can see some criticism, but now, no, there shouldnt be any especially because the other alternative is no BOSTON at all, take your choice. Also for all of the people who say DeCarlo sucks, he is a brad imposter, he doesnt belong etc, then you have no appreciation for good vocals, and extremely hard work. Tommy spent hours studying the essence of Brads voice between their 2008 and 2012 tours, go and look up live versions of the same song from both years and you will know what im talking about, and he didnt do this to pose as brad but to give all of the BOSTON fans the closest thing to what they have been asking for since he died and he does a pretty damn good job of it, as for the hair growth both head and facial, take a look at him from 2008, he doesnt look like a rockstar, and what do alot of famous rockstars have? Long Hair, a beard, or both, its not his fault that he slightly resembles brad, he simply wanted to look more like a rockstar. No he is not Brad, and he doesnt claim to be, but what he really is, is one kick ass singer who does a hell of a job filling in for one of the most iconic voices in classic rock. Finally, lets go to the new album. For those of you who say where is the classic BOSTON sound, its doesnt sound anything like BOSTON, its awful etc, stop having such a closed mine. my question is, how can it not sound like BOSTON, BOSTON is BOSTON, the only BOSTON, as with every other band they have their own unique style, and sound that nobody else has, nor do they sound like any other band, nor can anyone else truly sound like BOSTON, so how can BOSTON not sound like BOSTON, if you did any research on the album, it specifically says that the album was made using the same instruments, equipment and mixing techniques as all other BOSTON albums. to those of you who think you know music but really dont, there is more than one way to skin a cow, in other words, there are more ways to arrange notes than just one. Just because the songs sound differently as a whole doesnt mean the iconic BOSTON isnt there, its just simply a different way of conducting the instruments. The album is more modern than the old BOSTON which is par for almost every single classic rock band still making albums today, rush, ozzy, steve miller you name it, they are all making more modern sounding new albums with one exception, BOSTON still stuck to their original instruments, their original recording tools, all while still coming up with a more modern album and people still go crazy for Ozzy and all so why so much hate on BOSTON for doing the same thing. It not only has a more modern feel, with the same classic instruments, but it also shows the evolution of the band over that time period through the album, their are vocals of course from DeCarlo, David Victor, Kimberly Dahme, even Tom, but they also included Vocals from Delp, and correspondingly music from before his passing, Including this awesome piece Sail Away. And For all of you so called BOSTON fans now gone haters, really listen to the music, just because it doesnt sound like BOSTON to you doesnt mean the songs suck, even if they didnt sound like BOSTON which they do if you actually take the time to listen, they are still really good songs, so stop being closed minded and stubborn and be a real BOSTON fan and truly listen to the music, and its feel, and its message. To Tom Scholz, You have done an incredible job not only holding this band together, but making it prosper many years after its debut album, and making it sound as good if not better than it has in decades so from a true BOSTON fan thank you for all of your hard work over the years and more importantly over the last 20 years, and to Brad Delp, may you Sail on forever man!

Jeff Your Reasoning is Flawed..and this LP contains 4 Delp, Tracks! The whole dynamic of what made 'Boston' a great band has changed...call this lineup what it is...'Scholz' and leave it at that....The Title of '94's 'Walk On' was perfect! They should have then...Time too now!

Music dynamics have changed a lot since the 1970's when Boston's 1st album was released to be honest. With online sales and more , a lot of bands aren't gonna sell the same. Its more about selling tickets and touring now. I'm no big Boston fan (beyond Amanda) , but even we can see the changing era,

The first two albums were phenomenal, and I do believe Fran Sheehan and Barry G contributed a lot more than they may get credit for. But I love every album that came after, i recognize Tom's songwriting genius and will never turn my nose up at something he does, with or without the line up of the first two records. I just hate that others deprive themselves of some really good stuff, especially after Third Stage. LH&L is actually my favorite post-Third Stage album to date.

I had this thought when the song came out, and still do when hearing the helicopter-ish intro (which re-occurs during the song): it's curious because it sounds so modern and at the same time fits perfectly! It is so powerful! I am positive that the band has listened to 2000's until current day's music and felt that they had to fit in something from this time. A style update; even if it is just 5% of the song. The remaining part is still totally recognizable classic Boston sound. :)

What is wrong with you guys???? Bands evolve with the times. Tom knows what he is doing and we had a wonderful time at the last show. It was worth the money and it was a full 2 hour concert. Tom played just about everything organ, guitars and vocals, he is a genius. I was not nuts about that new female but if that's what he wants then so be it, everybody did a good job. Some people are never happy just a bunch of whiners.

"Bands evolve with the times." Does any of this sound like evolution? The Hallmark of Boston music was strong melodies, intelligent lyrics, and tight performance and production. This album is a dumpster fire.

    • @thedubstepdoge

@@ohger1 "The Hallmark of Boston music was strong melodies, intelligent lyrics, and tight performance and production" Yeah, this album has all of that. It's definitely unique and different from past Boston released but that's also why I love it so much. Really the only part I don't love is the drumming but the drums honestly sound fine and the songs have really great catchy melodies that get stuck in my head a lot.

Well I must say the drums are weak and some other things have changed from the classic sound. However as a diehard Boston Fan it still has the guitar sound and the vocals are good. Some time you need to listen to the album 2 or three times for it to grow on you.
