*Man, I LOVE this channel! I'm a long time fan. This channel ALWAYS has awesome, and enjoyable content. I just thought I'd comment and leave my appreciation. Keep on keepin' on, guys!* #Cinemassacre
Even if it sucked it'd make a great gag gift for that relative you don't give a shit about impressing. Perhaps an emo millenial who never looks up from their phone and doesn't even know what a CD is.
***** Yes, I agree. It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake, but you gotta do the cooking by the book. I'm surprised that in your comment you failed to mention that.
I straight-up own this game! I found it at a flea market when I was an undergrad in college. I played it once and never tried it again. This is amazing! Thank you so much for reminding me of this. I'll have to dig out my retro stash in my closet and start playing again.
Every once in a while I'll pull out the Saturn or 64, but rarely. I watch this for nostalgia, even though they like to play repros and games like this that I've never played.
If they have A/V cables (composite video), you can except light guns won't work. If you have the older consoles like Atari 2600, ColecoVision or IntelliVision, you might need to mod the console to have A/V connections or use an old VCR and use the A/V connections from the VCR while setting VCR to the channel the console uses.
+Ryan G. Truth. Bubsy wasn't amazing, but there was so much worse trash out there. People love the 16-bit era, and we all remember gems like Super Mario World and Sonic. But that generation was notoriously TERRIBLE for having just awful licensed platform games. Take virtually any license (Cheetos, Rocky and Bullwinkle, Ronald McDonald), give it some pretty graphics (because that's all kids thought they cared about right then), and make a generic side-scrolling collectathon with shitty controls. They were not fun. We all remember the great RPGs and beat-em-ups of generation 4, but when it comes to platformers, the NES will always be king.
This game looks like it had a lot of potential. Too bad some of the mechanics didn't seem to hold up as you kept playing. The different transformation did seem like a clever idea, just wish you could do them at will and then design puzzles around the different forms. Pretty much like a Boy and his Blob like you guys mentioned.
though i dont always have time to watch these. please dont be discouraged to making them. they are so nice for when i have the time to watch.... sigh thank you for existing...
THANKS a lot guys. I did buy this game on steam a month ago and I've just been getting destroyed with every map movement I make haha. It feels just like I'm in the show, I loved the idea of the game so much but I just couldn't figure out where to go!
he quit smoking and started shooting, all he does is speed balls now. its a dark road he's on. found out about this from people who know him. sad sad story.
Great content there guys. Jelly Boy looked pretty tough. For best controls on a NES game I would say Rush 'n Attack. There was no delay on the knife attack. It was a press up to jump type, but it wasn't awkward.
Interesting game Jelly Boy. Never even heard of this one at all. Surprised i had never even seen this on You Tube in the 10 years i have been on the site. Thanks for sharing this great game with us!
About 8 years ago I was so sunburned I couldn't move, channel flipping, found Laurel and Hardy, proceeded to watch all their movies and wanted more. There's gonna be a fight!
I've been watching Laurel and Hardy for as long as I can remember. My dad introduced me to them at a young age. I watched Blotto on UA-cam the other day. Hilarious stuff.
I love when Mike gets pissed off, its so funny. There's a few videos where Mike gets really upset and I just love watching it so funny, please if you can do a video with all Mikes best bits like when he cusses, I would love that.
wow, for a game I never heard of until now, I couldn't help but laugh at the name & animations of "Jelly boy" even mike matei giggled for a moment at the start of the video at just the name of the game
Well Contra's about two mercs stopping an evil corp from conquering the world, so I guess the plot being changed to two robots being ordered to destroy them instead of two men makes it less violent? I dunno. I still think Probotector had better designs though.
I feel like once a game's controls reach a certain level of good, they are all sort of tied as equally good controls. Sort of like they are just good solid control.
The attack reminds me od DecapAttack. You guys should try that one out. The score screen font reminds me of James Pond. This game definitely seems to draw inspiration from many sources.
This game kind of reminds me of Claymates on SNES, how you transform into other creatures to progress through the level...Mike, man, play Claymates! :D
Best controls in an NES game? Mega Man 2 or Mr. Gimmick. Also, this game looks pretty neat. Definitely reminds me of A boy and his Blob in many places.
This was one of my favourite games as a kid! Have never ever ever seen a second copy in my life. Brings back memories!
Oranges in the game gives you time.
Time, clock. Plus Orange.
Clockwork Orange.
Mindblown
violentjett
You right.
Real horrorshow.
I'll be at the Korova Milk Bar.
trying to beat this game is ultraviolence
The book is the best.
You turn into a duck, when you duck... this is awesome ^^
Anyone else back here after the NSO update?
*Man, I LOVE this channel! I'm a long time fan. This channel ALWAYS has awesome, and enjoyable content. I just thought I'd comment and leave my appreciation. Keep on keepin' on, guys!* #Cinemassacre
Yeah!! These guys are always finding great games that I never heard of. Love it.
+Pätkä who doesnt want to climb his wood, do u into pooping?
it's a good channel for discovering new retro games... plus James and the others are so likeable :)
I love Cinemassacre! Their videos always make me feel at ease with the world.
+Nymphetamine LOL, Hi. :3
_♬Oh Jelly Boy, the toast, the toast is caaalling!♬_
Just saying I'd buy the shit out of a Mike Matae whistling Christmas album
Merry Dickmas.
No you wouldn't. Liar. You can't even spell his name right so how you gonna look it up?
Even if it sucked it'd make a great gag gift for that relative you don't give a shit about impressing. Perhaps an emo millenial who never looks up from their phone and doesn't even know what a CD is.
***** Yes, I agree. It's a piece of cake to bake a pretty cake, but you gotta do the cooking by the book. I'm surprised that in your comment you failed to mention that.
Mike humongous crotch can keep up with any christmas tree
That GG Allin C+C Music Factory t-shirt is fucking hilarious.
Why?
Yeah, I agree. I want one, but I can't find it online for the life of me.
lostinthemasses Thx, mate.
Their conversation about Mike not liking musical instruments, but being the best whistler of all time is hilarious. at 6:00 or so.
I straight-up own this game! I found it at a flea market when I was an undergrad in college. I played it once and never tried it again. This is amazing! Thank you so much for reminding me of this. I'll have to dig out my retro stash in my closet and start playing again.
Am I the only one who doesn't really play old school games as much or at all now and still
likes to watch Cinemassacre??
I don't play em but I like to watch. sometimes a game pops up from my childhood and brings back good memories.
Every once in a while I'll pull out the Saturn or 64, but rarely. I watch this for nostalgia, even though they like to play repros and games like this that I've never played.
I doubt i could even set up my old game console to work on modern flat screen tv's anyway.
I hooked up my NES and started playing again. Its fun.
For an SNES game, I get a real Genesis vibe from this game, particularly in the graphics and sound. Almost reminds me of Bubsy.
Im getting an Amiga vibr
I definitely hear it in the sound. The color palette seems a bit too pastel for the Genesis, but I could see it.
Bubsy was also on SNES, tho. >_>; Not exactly the golden example of either, to boot.
+Ryan G. Truth. Bubsy wasn't amazing, but there was so much worse trash out there. People love the 16-bit era, and we all remember gems like Super Mario World and Sonic. +frozenaorta At least Bubsy wasnt Last Battle
I'm an audio engineer, I'd be glad to mix your next whistle album. As long as we don't use Autotune for any of the tracks. Good luck sir.
I can do it too
As an audio engineer, shouldn't you be using Autotune and Melodyne? Unless you also refuse to use EQ or compression.
Nick Starkey You clearly have no idea about anything having to do with actual audio engineering.
Nick Starkey lol, keep posing
One of my favourite SNES games as a kid. Surprised you didn't name drop Claymates though.
though i dont always have time to watch these. please dont be discouraged to making them. they are so nice for when i have the time to watch.... sigh thank you for existing...
THANKS a lot guys.
I did buy this game on steam a month ago and I've just been getting destroyed with every map movement I make haha.
It feels just like I'm in the show, I loved the idea of the game so much but I just couldn't figure out where to go!
Mike Matei Whistles Elvis' Greatest Hits
Make it happen guys!
Mike Matei whistles Christmas Classics. I'd probably buy that.
Man I just love your guy's channel inspired me keep up the great work.
Is anyone else wondering how much weed Mike smokes?
Hopefully a lot
he quit smoking and started shooting, all he does is speed balls now. its a dark road he's on. found out about this from people who know him. sad sad story.
Speed balls are good for you, where did you get that wrong perspection?
Great content there guys. Jelly Boy looked pretty tough. For best controls on a NES game I would say Rush 'n Attack. There was no delay on the knife attack. It was a press up to jump type, but it wasn't awkward.
The best underwater controls I've ever experienced are from Kirby's Epic Yarn when you turn into a dolphin.
Interesting game Jelly Boy. Never even heard of this one at all. Surprised i had never even seen this on You Tube in the 10 years i have been on the site. Thanks for sharing this great game with us!
Check out Gray Market Safari... they did this game a few weeks back
He could probably whistle the theme to Bubsy on SNES.
I like when Mike gets pissed off when he fucks up. Makes me feel better that I'm not the only one lol
@9:00 - That'd be a cool idea for a video. Maybe a top 10 best & worst controls or something like that?
Thanks mike for another awesome video. Please continue uploading great content with James
This game has good music, great vid, guys! Play Ristar next)
Not to be confused with Jerry Boy, also known as Smart Ball, one of the few Games Game Freak produced before they struck Gold with Pokémon.
Cinnemasacre has been top notch content since day one keep up the good work guys
So when he ducks he turns into a duck. Clever?
I don't get it...
yea, i think so.
+SkyHazel you don't get it? DUUUCK!!!
I'd say so. I'd never seen that in a game before, it's pretty creative. Sounds like something the creators of Earthworm Jim would've come up with.
J. F.G You scared me and I ducked to the floor, but I still don't get the joke!!! HAAAALP
About 8 years ago I was so sunburned I couldn't move, channel flipping, found Laurel and Hardy, proceeded to watch all their movies and wanted more. There's gonna be a fight!
damn mike, that was the coolest laugh I've ever heard.
your whistle skills are amazing! !
It’s all toys from the 80s 90s. Lego, erector sets, alphabet blocks, and the classics like dice. Cool
Great video! Super Meat Boy is an awesome side scroller for a talk about games
Mike Matei Presents - Whistle Me a Christmas Dream
"It's not great. Try it out!"
If that's not the most glowing endorsement I've ever heard, then I don't know what is.
I'm high
It's times like this, that I wonder if I am, looking at this...
Get down.
+MrYTGuy1 hahaha
+Steven Chapman well he's eliminate, but not "jelly boy" idk this game is messed up to me...
👍awesome
Just a fun thing I wanted to share. When I was looking around my local Gamestop. I noticed they remade A Boy and His Blob. Which i thought was cool.
I've been watching Laurel and Hardy for as long as I can remember. My dad introduced me to them at a young age. I watched Blotto on UA-cam the other day. Hilarious stuff.
Anyone notice that Jelly Boy's punch attack is as long as Mike's -- oh, nevermind. He recognized it.
Play Power Instinct for the SNES next, guys! When it comes to fighting games, it's one of the most underrated gems on the system.
I love when Mike gets pissed off, its so funny. There's a few videos where Mike gets really upset and I just love watching it so funny, please if you can do a video with all Mikes best bits like when he cusses, I would love that.
It was called the Super Nintendo in Europe too, even though it used the same design as the Super Famicom.
wow, for a game I never heard of until now, I couldn't help but laugh at the name & animations of "Jelly boy" even mike matei giggled for a moment at the start of the video at just the name of the game
One of those ones I saw back then or later back then when I was re collecting.
That whistling album should be harmonized whistling as all the instruments 100
This game reminds me of the Wolverine stage from SNES Spiderman and X-Men. :-) Great game.
Vice Project Doom has fantastic controls in my opinion, yall should do a video on that one :)
The bear in the shelf could also be a reference to The Shining
I thought Jelly Boy was what Smart Ball was called in Japan. I stand corrected.
Never heard of Contra untill is started watchin Cinemassacre in 07.
THANKS GERMANY!
Wow. I feel sorry for you. Genuinely.
***** ...I'd ask why, but I'm pretty sure the answer wouldn't change the fact that it's still senseless censorship.
Well Contra's about two mercs stopping an evil corp from conquering the world, so I guess the plot being changed to two robots being ordered to destroy them instead of two men makes it less violent? I dunno.
I still think Probotector had better designs though.
A S R Yeah, I scratch my head at that.
"The duck." I've never even thought about that. It's so stupid it's hilarious.
One of the issues with this game is the camera is often lagging, so you end up ahead of the camera with little time to react to anything.
turning into a duck when pressing down ... brilliant!
I had this game when I was kid, its great.
I feel like once a game's controls reach a certain level of good, they are all sort of tied as equally good controls. Sort of like they are just good solid control.
It almost seems like an unlicensed sequel to A Boy & His Blob
Jelly Boy: The adventures of Mike
is that a salad tossing joke?
The graphics and slippery gameplay. This almost has an Alfred Chicken vibe to it.
The attack reminds me od DecapAttack. You guys should try that one out. The score screen font reminds me of James Pond. This game definitely seems to draw inspiration from many sources.
This looks good. I kind of want to pick it up.
Originally I thought this was going to be "A Boy And His Blob" which was actually a pretty decent game
9:20 I think Super Castlevania had some of the best control.
Agreed!
yeeep
Sunset Riders and Skyblazer have pretty good controls too
this game looks rlly cool damn
This game kind of reminds me of Claymates on SNES, how you transform into other creatures to progress through the level...Mike, man, play Claymates! :D
Best controls in an NES game? Mega Man 2 or Mr. Gimmick. Also, this game looks pretty neat. Definitely reminds me of A boy and his Blob in many places.
We need a supercut of Mike plummeting to his death
whistling jokes made me lol. I would actually purchase this album. Whistle all the best game theme tunes.
Wesley Roskell liquefied
can't wait for cinemassacre monster madness
Finally getting that Laurel and Hardy gab in my obsolete game reviews!
Kinda reminds me of Kirby with all those powers and stuff. I might check this one out.
Always liked this one, probably the best Ocean console game besides Parasol Stars. Played it on an emulator a ton as a kid, hard but satisfying :)
Mike whistles in the video, but neither of them notice that the jellyboy whistles as his idle animation.... *sigh*
The background of this game reminds me of that 7UP game for sega I think
I remember an article of this game in one of my oldest gaming magazines. I think it got like 14% out of 100%
Pretty hard for a kids game! What about Shinobi III for Genesis? Great controls, gameplay, awesome music and level design.
Stiff controls? thats more like Revenge of Shinobi
I would like to see you guys play Mr. nuts, I played it as a kid and found it pretty good
I actually was excited to hear you tal about Laurel and Hardy ;o
Ok here is the kicker. Jelly boy was the European pal exclusive.
Wasn't there a toy level in Cool Spot?
Maybe I was just a dumb kid (most likely), but I kind of remember Cool Spot being difficult.
I have to say Mike, you really are a pretty good whistler.
Great video as always guys. I'd love to see and you James play some Mega manX. Or X3(my favorite in the series)
11:47 "Blue Oyster" Police Academy reference :)
Reminds me of James Pond with that toy like level design.
Anyone else think Mike's whistling was pretty good ? Haha
Guys, there is an amazing Australian SNES game that you need to get called "The Firefighters." It should have come out in the US!!!
"That's what bothers me... alliteration." =D
You guys should play Quest for Camelot. Drove me nuts when I was a kid.
Oceanhorn: Monster of Uncharted Seas would be a good choice for Mike & Ryan
This is literally an imitation of Sonic in terms of mechanical concept.
Except that it's slow-paced and on the SNES.
i loved this game :D
this game feels, sounds and looks totally like its for the commodore amiga 500.
maybe its the european style.
Hey guys have you ever played Harley's humongous adventure? This game reminds me of that kind of. Super fun game was on of my favorites.
Reminds me of super putty and the SNES or silly putty on the Commodore Amiga.
Laurel and Hardy! I had plastic banks of them growing up.
Hey mike, you think you would be able to live stream this game?
It seems like a worth while game to put an hour or two into.
I see sometimes that the character disappears or flashes in their videos. Is that just problems with the video capture?
