Ladies, you can still shampoo and condition your hair while it’s still in cornrows or braids. “Leaving your hair alone” does not mean neglecting it. An unclean scalp is a breeding ground for bacteria and fungal infections.
@@tatienonoAt least wash it too. I leave my protective styles for long periods too, but I maintain it well ( washing, re-twisting, moisturizing). I looks disgusting to be frank😢

For tangling and matting. De-tangling dry with oil separates hair better and reduces shedding. Wetting the hair exacerbates tangling because the cuticles are lifted and stick to each other (like Velcro). The oil in conditioner is a saving grace tho :)

Water (tea) can matt the hair more, the conditioner first to add slip then the tea, just a little and then the cap. Really works at loosening the roots too ❤
Just to emphasise I appreciate you sharing. Just thought it would help you in the future Water makes the hair swell, so if matted it swells and becomes harder to release. Her hair should have been shampooed way before 4 months. Her scalp would not heal if the scalp was no healthy. Also brushing or combing the hair is important as a person can lose 100 strands a day. Let’s work on healing her scalp and the hair should be comb by the roots also.
