- Until gold was discovered in California, North Carolina was the leading gold producing region in the United States. Come visit the NC site where the rush to find this elusive element began.
Produced by UNC-TV and Our State Magazine, with generous funding from BB&T. For further info, visit www.unctv.org/ourstate.
Lady says "they would only get paid .75 cents a day" ! That was top pay back then! Nearly a silver dollar a day
Wish they would do a segment on the Brindletown western NC gold rush!
There’s more gold in the ground than the old timers ever got to. I’m from The Carolina gold fields the biggest problem with mining the gold there now is the people. They don’t mind leveling natural to build subdivisions, but no one wants a Gold mine touching natural areas. And the fact that a large portion of the gold fields are under concrete and asphalt. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Yes, there IS still gold in these here parts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You heard of Stewert Creek in Charlotte,NC?THERES GOLD ALL UP AND DOWN THAT CREEK!!!! I went there a few days ago.
