Tennessee Whiskey is a cover. I know it was recorded by George Jones . It was written in 1981 by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove. David Allen Coe recorded it first in ‘81 and Jones in ‘83. 💜👵🏼✌🏼

You should look up the list of people he’s written songs for prior to going out on his own.
