Nice to see a 2.4l Frontier, there's not much about these with the 4-pot, everyone wants to show off the Supercharged V6 model, but these are the ones that will last forever
fr I've got a 2000 frontier at 230k and have beat the living shit out of it since 200k. Actually spun the wheels lock to lock last night through second gear for the first time. crazy how much fun you can have with 143hp and some clutch kicking.
I have the same truck and it’s broke down once again with electrical issues. Other than that she’s jam up. Ac still blows cold and runs good with 200,000 miles when it’s getting power that is
I love my 2000 Frontier 2.4L manual. Still runs like a top at almost 300K miles, doesn't even have blow by. Looks like it's been through hell and back, but it's still trucking along!
Thanks for making this. I've always been a Ford guy but my ranger engine blew because I couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. And so I was stuck in my old Police Interceptor and recently got it sold. I was looking for another ranger bit a little 4 cylinder Nissan Frontier caught my eye recently. 1999 model with a market value of over 6000 dollars even with the miles mainly because everyone looking to buy is getting price gauged based on the fact that everyone wants a small truck right now. The guy was asking 4500. I pointed out some dings here and there and talked him down to 3800 over all from what I can see I might spend about $200.00 on her before she becomes a daily. The truck is nothing fancy at all just a pretty little lady in red. the body style is slightly different than yours but still has a softer look than the hardbody. It's quite a change for me and a thrilling purchase. Thanks again.
I have a 2000 2.4l 2 wheel drive with a great 5 speed gets 20 -23 mpg depending on a.c. usage. I basically stole mine I got it so cheap. I plan on keeping mine for a long time. I gave $400 and a broken riding lawnmower for my little Frontier. Then I immediately put in a new water pump, thermostat, hoses, belts, radiator cap, alternator, and pulled out both bumpers a little. Now it is one fine little truck. Btw, all the parts except the hoses were still original. I could sell mine for a great profit, but I rather just keep it. It would take an insanely generous offer for me to consider parting with my little truck.
That’s a good looking frontier man! These are my favorite trucks of all time I’ve got a 2004 2.4 5 speed 2wd same extended cab model it’s in nearly perfect shape except for a dent in the fender where somebody hit my truck that I plan to get fixed when I decide to repaint the truck but it’s got the original motor and transmission 230k miles on it and it’s just a fun beautiful truck to drive I love my truck so much and I’m so happy to see other people appreciate these trucks too these are tough little trucks and they hold good value I picked mine up for $3500 and it’s been good to me for years I plan to be buried in this truck it’s the last truck I ever want to own anyways man thanks for showing us that beauty and take good care of her! 👍🏻
My 1998 frontier is a 4 cylinder, 4WD and gets 23 mpg on the freeway. And I drive at 5000 to 8000 ft elevation. I paid $5k for it with 100k miles. Put 100k miles on it. Hassle free. Great little truck.
Nice video Eric.I have a 1998 4x4 Frontier club cab, great truck, has about 150k on the clock.Did you ever have to change your fuel pumps on your 98 or 03?I have a dear friend who had 3 or 4 1980's toyota pickups that went close to 300 k before he sold them and he never had a fuel pump fail.
Idk about the v6s, but the 2.4l KA24DE blocks are made better than the 240sx blocks fs. Keep good and enough oil in her and nothing catastrophic should happen. I've got no excess blowby in the stock piston rings and I've beat the shit out of mine (I tap the rev limiter at least twice a day and do donuts every now and then) for 30-40k miles. it has around 240k rn.
If it's a v6 do a timing belt and water pump service. The v6 is an interference engine. keep the oil changed and the truck will serve you for a long time.

How is long term reliability on these early Frontiers?

These are trucks for working class . New trucks cost as much as RENT in many places for Five - Six years . How stupid r buyers ?
not stupid, just love to consume consume consume.
consoomers, we call them.
I think I'd have a hard time hauling a canoe in that little bed. I have an 8' bed T100.
lol. I'm not sure anyone has ever described the nissan V6 as "elaborate"
