What did you jack up on? The ball joint bottom or the control arm?

When re installing the knuckle? The jack was placed under the ball joint, but was more than likely pushing on the control arm. The main thing is to lift the lower control arm so you can align the knuckle with upper ball joint.
Theis shouldn't require much pressure but you could place a small piece of wood between the jack and lower control arm for extra safety measures.
