At 44:53 you can see where at some point, one of the gymnasts drew a little happy face in chalk on the mat. That's such an endearing little reminder- these are strong, incredibly tough, seasoned athletes.....but they're still young girls. 🎀💖🖤
It was great seeing all the gymnasts happy, smiling, waving and jumping. Russia especially. Much different from team final though. Only USA was happy, smiling and waving. Poor Yao Jinnan. She had a bad day here and didn't get to compete in AA final.
You guys should appreciate this video matter what these amazing athletes are trying to show the world what they can do and you should appreciate each one of them for their hard work and dedication
Actually this is my favorite video of Women Artistic Gymnastics in London 2012, I has 2 of the strongest teams of the competition: China and Russia. And I love the russian and german girls, specially Elizabeth Seitz, Aliya Mustafina and Viktoria Komova, because they are likeable besides talented. And I prefer the BBC commenters over the americans or any other.
If you really are a "lover of gymnastics" you would know that Grishina had an excellent junior career and a rocky senior first year, but she's a fantastic gymnast who had a bad competition.
Grishina was amazing, just at times I felt unlucky. Her beam was one of my favorites- simply because she had some truly unique connections. I only hope she’s proud of that silver medal, as it was well earned.
Poor Jao :( Such a great gymnast, you knew she was hiding an injury when she was messing up that much. GOF Musty is such a compleat gymnast! Her showmanship and dance ability just kill (in a good way) her floor routine! Love her. Seitz's full twisting gienger is insane. I wish she'd've medaled. Ideally: Musty, Tweddle, Sietz, in any order.
Actually, Oksana was 38! Her birthday is on June 19. She turned 38 last year before the start of the Women's Gymnastics Team Qualifications at the Olympics on July 29, 2012. And yes, she is a total WOW! She competed at the 1992 Olympics, the same as the lady commentator here, the U.S.A.'s Shannon Miller. :)
And balanced. She doesn't feel the need to keep talkingtalkingtalkingtalking as though she had to fill every second with incessant chatter. She makes astute and brief comments as needed, just to let us know what happened here or there. It's like she just lets the audience sit back and enjoy the show. Very refreshing, really.
That's Elisabeth Seitz from Germany, and she did make it to the finals. She was the 7th place qualifier. (Actually placed 8th in quals, but the Chinese gymnast in the 7th place didn't go to finals because there were already 2 other Chinese gymnasts ahead of her.)
That sucks though that Aliya was forced to do that beam routine in the TF. She was really struggling all week. It made me sad when we were watching seeing her have that much trouble. Good on her for stepping up and doing it.
Jessica Ramirez They're by far the prettiest team to watch and the first to suffer from the devaluation of artistry for big skills which look impressive, but that belong more in a sport such as tumbling instead of /artistic/ gymnastics. They are true purist and such nice lines!
Well that certainly would explain her shocked face and then utter joy...honestly I saw that moment for the first time and said "I wonder what they're talking about!" Now I'm sure you're right :D
Shannon Miller is fair, interested in gymnasts from all over the world, isn't biased to the US team and really down plays her own success. Not what NBC want.
grishina refused to do beam because she freaked out, plain and simple. had nothing to do with floor. it came out that her coaches pandered to her insecurities, which isn't her fault but the coaches's fault. when alexandrov spoke out about all this (in addition to other things), he was sacked as the russian national coach. she had A LOT of pressure and expectations put on her, despite not having much experience, in addition to personal pressures outside of gymnastics. she baulked under pressure.
I think that over the years, the sport of gymnastics has single-handedly kept the glitter hair/body spray industry in business. Especially Parkettes in the USA.
That's Elizabeth Seitz of Germany and she DID make bars finals. Her SV didn't fail her at all. She did well in Finals, she just couldn't get into the medals.
Got it. I didn't know that she wasn't training for the Olympics. She's talented, but inexperienced. She was on the team for Euros, and she took silver on uneven bars behind Viktoria, but she had trouble on beam. I love Aliya she's a beautiful gymnasts, and honestly I don't know why people make her out to be such a devil. I mean she does have a forceful personality, but she is the leader of the team, and at any rate I admire her character. She's tough and that an admirable quality in a gymnast.
I think that she will try for Rio and probably make the team but she is going to have to work against her body. From 2011 to 2012 alone she grew a lot and with the time she is taking off now she could grow more. But if she wants an AA gold I think that she will have to upgrade. She not only did poorly on the vault in AA finals but also lost significant difficulty to Gabby. Those tenths really do add up.
It could be...but I don't really think so, since they'd probably already know that even before their subdivision started....think about how quickly that news went viral! Maybe Mustafina is telling Komova that she could be/is in first place qualifying for the all-around.
Where did you get that info from about Grishina? BTW: she couldn't have refused to do beam based on her floor performance, because beam was before floor. I don't know why they didn't use Komova on the floor in the team finals. I liked her routine in the AA. Grishina's was also good here in quals, though. And really, either way, a hit routine from Grishina or Komova wouldn't have gotten team Russia gold, with the other mistakes they already had. Oh, and I totally agree with you about Mustafina.
@ponyrider35 Because there were so many teams competing in qualifying, they had 5 subdivisions. Only one team (or mixed group) per apparatus competed in each subdivision. All the scores of every team in the qualifying rounds were compared, and then the top 8 teams go to the team finals. In the team finals, there are the top 8 teams competing, 2 teams on each apparatus. The mixed groups that you see in quals don't count for team score, only to get individual gymnasts into the event finals.
Is it possible that i can watch the other routines that's being performed here but was not shown in this video? For example, during a chinese's beam routine komova was performing her floor routine. How can I watch that in this qualification?
10:29 this is replay of the balance beam routine.... She performed this in the finals.... And they used the clip for this vid.... Check the Balance Beam finals 2012... She's the first one.. Them come back to this one... Your welcome
everything is great in the world when Shannon Miller is the commentator.
i agree! im rewatching these again with nothing else to do at home :)
So true. She's extremely likeable and always kind and caring towards the athletes

Great point! It's very important to remember that
I just noticed that! Definitely a cute little moment for someone.
Maria Paseka was so cute when she had to touch the bars and salute :3
Had Komova done that vault in the AA, she would be olympic champion.
Aaaaa

When Shannon's saying "look at that form 😍" about Vika's sheep jump in slow mo. I FEEL IT ❤️
It was great seeing all the gymnasts happy, smiling, waving and jumping. Russia especially. Much different from team final though. Only USA was happy, smiling and waving. Poor Yao Jinnan. She had a bad day here and didn't get to compete in AA final.
Yao was unfortunately nursing a hamstring issue, which very definitely affected her. Very disappointing as she was a fantastic AA competitor.
You guys should appreciate this video matter what these amazing athletes are trying to show the world what they can do and you should appreciate each one of them for their hard work and dedication
Some of the people out there are biased.
Actually this is my favorite video of Women Artistic Gymnastics in London 2012, I has 2 of the strongest teams of the competition: China and Russia. Joaquín Ibarra the female commentator here is shannon miller
Amanda Miller !l!ll!!ll
Amanda Miller .. u are right my friend..
The talent at these games was very, very special. Idk if any other olympics has been able to top it, honestly.
If you really are a "lover of gymnastics" you would know that Grishina had an excellent junior career and a rocky senior first year, but she's a fantastic gymnast who had a bad competition.
I feel like komova was a wonderful all-around contender! She just had a rough olympics
Grishina was amazing, just at times I felt unlucky. Her beam was one of my favorites- simply because she had some truly unique connections. I only hope she’s proud of that silver medal, as it was well earned.
Love Shannon's commentary. ❤️ She is so positive and eloquent. xx
Watching this again for the feels. Rio is next week and so much has changed.
mummy in china flagship
I absolutely love the Russian style, so beautiful. I love that move Grishina does when she does a cool, elegant spin @ 14:33. It makes me smile :)
In my opinion, Aliya's still the queen.

Aliya's double arabian stag was explosive
I WAS THERE omg front row! it was the best day ever, such incredible gymnastics!
How much was the ticket, if there's any?
Russian team was so sweet here, I adore those girls so much and miss these olympics!! I love Grishina sm the most.
aliya mustafina made the double arabian look so easy
Marla Hulac
sui lu straight ninja on that beam
the camera angle on he kexins UB routine blew my mind, the fluidity and accuracy. Wow.
Aliya and Viktorias relationship 😍🥰
Komovas body and style reminds me so much of nastia
Well Nastia was born in Russia
Elisabeth Seitz does one of the best triple turns/spins on floor exercise that I've ever seen!! So controlled, so beautiful, completes it perfectly!
AM I the only one who wants to do beam and bars like the Chinese?
doubletwistingdoublelayout

Oksana's beam routine is classic! There are many skills and movements which gymnasts in this era won't do anymore.
I just realized Komova's fx music contained an excerpt from the show must go on by queen. I'm like 6 yrs late though
And balanced. She doesn't feel the need to keep talkingtalkingtalkingtalking as though she had to fill every second with incessant chatter. She makes astute and brief comments as needed, just to let us know what happened here or there. It's like she just lets the audience sit back and enjoy the show. Very refreshing, really.
the first 30 seconds SUCH A HIGHLIGHT
That's Elisabeth Seitz from Germany, and she did make it to the finals. She was the 7th place qualifier. (Actually placed 8th in quals, but the Chinese gymnast in the 7th place didn't go to finals because there were already 2 other Chinese gymnasts ahead of her.)
I think it was musty telling her that she is the top qualifier, she looked very pleased with herself, that smile was sweet not cunning.
That sucks though that Aliya was forced to do that beam routine in the TF. She was really struggling all week. It made me sad when we were watching seeing her have that much trouble. Good on her for stepping up and doing it.
I like Sui Lu she trains very hard for this
MG King suilu
All the Chinese gymnasts seemed to be underscored.
I agreeee,
Jessica Ramirez They're by far the prettiest team to watch and the first to suffer from the devaluation of artistry for big skills which look impressive, but that belong more in a sport such as tumbling instead of /artistic/ gymnastics. They are true purist and such nice lines!
They just don't have difficulty on floor and vault but their execution is great
I really loved how Russian get their ranked back.
1:12:03 is Mustafina telling Komova that Jordyn Wieber didn't make the all-around final.
Who s Jordyn Wieber???
Aidan Karnal Wow, that was very keen of you to notice that...
Alief Zahaan she was on the US 2012 Olympic team. I don't know how you don't know who she is.
how did you figure that one out?! i should have you buy me a lottery ticket!
Is that true? Hahaha!
LOL Paseka. 52:25 "Did I do good?" coach goes "That was a perfect 10 scratch" XD
thank you!
The Chinese have little girls on the team but they are AMAZING!!!!!!! 😄😃😀😊☺️😉
she meant little by small😌
๐
So what if they have a little girl on the team
Probably because In 2008 they faked the age of several gymnasts
+Hallie Bowen They didn't fake the age
ugh, i love this
Wow. Perfect Song! We Love it!
52:15 oh, perfect ub! Paseka
They make it look so easy!
Ich turne auch und der Schwebebalcken finde ich ist immer am schwersten. Saltos machen ist war für mich am Anfang auch schwer.
Very inspiring as a gymnast
At 52:55 my floor music plays 😂
I used to have that floor music too!!
Mustafina is incredible
ALIYAAAAA!!!
Magnificent, Magnificent, Magnificent!
Well that certainly would explain her shocked face and then utter joy...honestly I saw that moment for the first time and said "I wonder what they're talking about!" Now I'm sure you're right :D
Is that Komova in the thumbnail?
God I hope she can make another comeback
The best of the best!
Shannon Miller is fair, interested in gymnasts from all over the world, isn't biased to the US team and really down plays her own success. Not what NBC want.
what amazing competion....BIG wow

I JUST LOVE SHANNON MILLER!!! :)
Me too. My all time favorite.
Aliya was quite underscored on bars.
That's Elizabeth Seitz of Germany and she DID make bars finals. Her SV didn't fail her at all. She did well in Finals, she just couldn't get into the medals.
Grazie...
Seitz did make the bars final and placed 6th.
Got it. I didn't know that she wasn't training for the Olympics. She's talented, but inexperienced. Viktoria Komova has done a great job
Wow good job, well done
I think that she will try for Rio and probably make the team but she is going to have to work against her body. Maybe Mustafina is telling Komova that she could be/is in first place qualifying for the all-around.
The fierce five are so amazing I look up to mkalary marrony and gabb Douglas they were the ones you made me want to do competitive gymnastics 😍😍😍
you look up to their spelling or gymnastics?
First of all, it's Mckayla Moroney and Gabby Douglas. Second of all, this is artistic gymnastics (I know some people call it as competitive)
Jasmine Kong all gymnastics is competitive
+Acroerin she is of using about Gabby and McKayla so I guess she was talking about artistic instead of rhythmic
Acroerin ever heard of rec classes? Not all Gymnastics is competitive.
even with the v. low d.o.d china's floor routines are actually quite beautiful/artistic
Komova
Vault - 26:43
Beam - 1:09:17
Gabby Douglas is legit! 😘😜😍
and i cant even do a cartwheel...........
ikr 😊
Wow I love russa
Me too. Thier really good
Where did you get that info from about Grishina? BTW: she couldn't have refused to do beam based on her floor performance, because beam was before floor.

Oh, and I totally agree with you about Mustafina.
O.O Really? I didn't know about that! Where can I find more about it??
Viktoria Komova is sooooo underrated
정말 운동도 잘하고 멋지네용!
one word... WWWWWWWOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!
Ikr!!
They're saying "Jia-you Nannan". Nannan is what they call her I guess? Jia-you is like "go!/come on!", you know some cheering :)
@ponyrider35 Because there were so many teams competing in qualifying, they had 5 subdivisions. Only one team (or mixed group) per apparatus competed in each subdivision. All the scores of every team in the qualifying rounds were compared, and then the top 8 teams go to the team finals.

At 16:54 his butt is in the camera lol
Em awkward lol
i love the bar
So sad Grishina didn't make beam finals just by .166 tenths, i wish she made it
Sui Lu's floor music kind of sounds like Jordyn Wieber's
Yao Jinnan was injured before the games and so she couldn't compete with her full difficulty. The same with Sui Lu on floor.
I clicked on "All comments". I love comments. Anyway, I forget when exactly Beth got braces.
ahhhh i never knew how close the scores were for russia and the us in the qf, they were so close!!
it was the music on floor of viktoria komova :)
sometimes I wonder if they have bones in their bodies they are just unbelievable.
I don't think so, I bet it's when Aliya told her she qualified in first place.
No seriously, these guys are amazing, But the U.S. of A is amazing-et
Is it possible that i can watch the other routines that's being performed here but was not shown in this video? For example, during a chinese's beam routine komova was performing her floor routine. How can I watch that in this qualification?
I love being Chinese. I don't hate any other countries biut I like the Chinese gymnastics.
10:29 this is replay of the balance beam routine.... She performed this in the finals.... And they used the clip for this vid.... Check the Balance Beam finals 2012... She's the first one.. Them come back to this one...
Your welcome
Then why is there Komova's floor music in the background? There's no floor music playing in finals.
Aliya mustafina!♥♥
Russia!
viktoria komova is so beautiful...those eyes wow !!
I so wish Yao Jinnan wasn't injured: I had such high hopes for her here!
I.love gym
52:40 😢
It is you.
felicidades
