My father came from Germany, He was active in promoting Cincinnati's German community, which means that I got exposed to a lot of the culture too. dance groups were always my favorite part of it all. Humor and skill , and showmanship, I love it!

I had to laugh kind of about your comment of Californians different than Texans. It is true in many cases. Where I live in the Sacramento Valley, you find a lot of people with more in common with stereotypical Texans, than with those in the SF Bay Area. Many don't realize it, but California is one of the biggest agricultural and farming areas in the world. I guess everywhere has it's variety.

You are watching the performance of the Dance Group "Edelweiss" from Newcastle during the Dance Fest at Easter 2009 in Brisbane (not Oktoberfest in Perth), venue was Brisbane German Club. Unfortunately this group dissolved and is not existing anymore. They had dancing skills of a very high standard, and it was sad to hear from them of their intention to discontinue their regular dance practice - due to other commitments of participating members (and lack of interest of new and young dancers to replace the old ones). Franz from Austria plays the "Styrer" button accordion - also a dying art with loss of skill and talent here in Australia.
