Mother's abandoned by they baby daddies. The failure of this nation to provide education and security to the black community. And church sit there replying with "be blessed and be fed". We don't need more holy people, we need people who go out and fund schools, adopt children, cops who look at broken communities with compassion and empathy. We gotta show the love of Christ by abandoning any preconceived notions. We gotta have the desire to give other human beings the chances that I'm inherently born with. It goes deeper than "black on black violence". I feel like, let's be real here, the white church has turned the other way and have said, " thank you Lord that I'm not like this sinner". I'm guilty of these sins, I just want to be the generation that cares..

I love Derek Minor. But this song he talks about us... not meaning us Christians, but "us black people". Sounds outlandish? Can you IMAGINE if someone made a song talking about it is "us against them" and they were white, it would be outlandish and abominable. There are so many assertions put forward in the song that are just false and dangerously continue the same exact rhetoric of unsaved people that is continuing to keep this nation "untied".

I am really glad that I finished watching this video. I paused it, and almost left because I thought it was supposed to show the white people seeing him chained, and laughing. When I unpaused it, and finished it, and saw that they had just not noticed him, I was relieved. Great video, and great message! Keep reaching out. We need to stop seeing people for their skin, and focus on the human inside. As long as we keep up the thought that a simple skin color makes someone different, we will never be what we are meant to be.

I wont say all but ill say im willing to bet that MOST people who have any issue with the message of this song have never been pulled over 4 separate times over the course of 1 year and told they "fit the description of a robber in the area", or made to get out of their cars ,etc like i have. No speeding ticket given. No tail lights out. No criminal record. But yet im often seen as some kind of threat...Just living as a black man. The issues are REAL and I wish people who dont know what its like to live in my shoes would stop acting like they do. And a big THANK YOU to those of different races who are showing concern for the alarming rate that senseless killing of us are taking place instead of trying to belittle the problem.
