I use a Rotary converter. My first one was made by Phoenix. It was very noisy and could barely start my direct drive machine. I now use a converter made by Kay industry. Not only does it start my machine in 2 seconds or less it’s incredibly quiet. Phase master check it out.
Dont even bother this method ll just kill your motor better just run a long cable to any other phase lol, this shifts phases to 90 degrees so not 120 , you would need a single phase with a voltage of 162.6 Volts to reach the 230V line to line
Yes, correct, you can drive a 3-phase motor using a Capacitor like that. . . . BUT the value of the Capacitor will only be correct for one size of motor and also for only one specific speed or Power output on that motor.. . . These days, it would be better to get a VFD drive unit, which can change single-phase to 3-phase.
@@Ratridez VFD is good for any and all motors. . it just comes down to best cost consideration, balanced against the advantages of VFD. . . In fact, I suspect VFD would be very good for milling machines. . . Better starting with higher torque, and better coordinated control of speed.. . . What do you think VFD is. ?. . . It is much better control of rotary motors, than DOL.
hello, I have a qst , can i connect a single phase with a 3-phase machine (the machine contains stepper and servo motors and other devices) using the VFD technic. thank you.
No you can't , they're hp rated and no good for a mill , can't handle power spikes , rotary converter is the way to go . I've been doing this for years . I've built my own 10 hp converter and can run a 5 hp mill and a 3 hp lathe at same time no problem .
It wasn’t designed for this, I see motor failure under normal conditions sooner than later. One set of windings are doing more work…just like dropping a phase….not good
What a beautiful video!!! thanks sir!!
@IT and Automation Academy
Good Job, great Animation
Beautiful explanation, good work
There is a very good reason why this is never done other than in a classroom demonstration.
What is the best approach to get this done?
Care to mention why? Would be helpful to others
Basic not as indepth on how vfd as capacitor but seems accurate information.
Thanks
Good Model and Animation
Thank you for your nice video. Additionally, DPS is very good item for running 3 phase motor from single phase. DPS is Digital Phase Converter.
Well explained, many thanks 👍😊
do we connect capacitor in series or parallel if two 70uf capacitor is used?

nice video
Thanks for the visit
Great
Wonderful
Very useful video but how to calculate the capacitor size that's enough to use with 3phase motor? Thanks

True thats best way totally agree
I wonder what would be the power rating of this kinda motor.
Is it 5hp or what...? 🤔
@@Flordelino-hf1nu I am really not sure, at a guess, if the capacitor is sized correctly, you might get 3HP, probably less.
VFD are no good for a milling machine with multiple motors , rotary is the only way to go .

What is the capacitor value of 3 phase 7.5 HP motor plug into single
Sir please make video on scada to plc interface?
Ok will do
Please make for servo drive setting
Ok
Can i Buy one
17uf/kw?

Easier to just run a long cable to your main board lol
Where is neutral supply
If it's a balanced load like a motor a neutral is not always needed.
Hi
Rotary converters are cheap to build .
That's DC capacitor but it says vac...
Not a good explanation on rotary converter
Thanks for your comment will try to improve
