      PottedNai We have a myth about this creature in Sweden its called a "Bäckahäst- also known as a "Nokken" It portrays itself as this beautiful mare or stallion for people very often to children or younger people wanting them to ride it ..though when they get on its back to do so it will take off with the speed of a jet running towards the nearest body of water to drown these people it can also appear at fields at farms to work as a plow horse for a day for the farmer trying to fool the farmer to ride them but the steel in the bridle the farmer place on them keeps them bound so usualy at the days end they normaly run off not wanting to risk being bound again ..its true form can only been seen in the reflection of a lake or body of water..if one ever finds themselves on the back of one holy incatations or a mention of holy words will get them to throw you off and run away
      Not all of them have murderous intent though! Some will be satisfied with taking you several towns over and leaving you there making you have to get back home on your own

    It's either a kelpie or a brook horse. It's fairly close to the same thing, though the kelpie can shape shift more, even extending its back to lure multiple riders.
    Both have similar goals. Lure a human in, then race to water. Sometimes they drown them. Or times they turn into a massive serpent-like beast and devour them. The kelpie is known to leave the entrails along the shoreline.
    The sign of the cross, supposedly, is enough to free you from it's grip. With the kelpie, the tale usually has it ensnaring several kids at once. One of them hadn't climbed on, but was merely petting it. This kid's hand would be just as stuck to the beast as the rest, but would then sever their own hand to free themselves.

      Bluesit32 Kelpies and brook horses are so similar that they're almost indistinguishable. The only difference is that the brook horse is Scandinavian and acts as a sort of 'soul ferrier' to the afterlife and kelpies are more like 'real' animals. The thing is this kelpie was missing its golden bridle, so maybe it's a brook horse.

    Kelpies are a type of fairy from Gaelic folklore. They often took the form of beautiful horses, luring people to them and giving them the sense that they should ride them. When the person got on them, the person would stick to them, unable to escape before the Kelpie went into a source of water (usually a lake) and drowned them.

    This is so cool! It's based off of a Scottish legend, the "horse" is actually a common water spirit called a Kelpie. They're usually described as beautiful mares, people are compelled to ride them and they then race to the nearest body of water to drown the human, as a sort of sacrifice to a water goddess.

      _Kelpies_ are Celtic, and are also the translation for the slavic _Utopiec_ (read: Oo-topiets), while _Brook Horses_ are Scandinavian. All are equine related.

  • @Anon3433
    @Anon3433 8 років тому +3

    The creature you've encountered is an Each Uisge from Scottish folklore. They are said to appear as a man or a horse, they get people to ride them like normal horses but as when they go towards a body of water the unfortunate rider is stuck to the creatures back and as the Each Uisge dives into the depths of the deep (causing the human to drown) they will eat the poor unfortunate soul leaving the liver to float at the surface

    • @Sacred_Ivory_Rose
      @Sacred_Ivory_Rose 7 років тому +2

      Jordan Kurosabaku the creature is actually a kelpie not an each usaige, the two are so similar that it is easy to mix them up. The main differences between the two are that Kelpie's lived in shallower waters and each usiages live in deeper bodies of water. And each usaiges are far more vicious then a kelpie. I can completely understand the mix up though.

    It's a kelpie, a mythological being that disguises itself as a beautiful horse infront of anyone who draws near, especially boys and once that person is on the kelpie heads to the water and starts morphing into its true form a half horse half fish being, normally whoever rides it doesn't escape until it's to late, kelpies once the person has drowned has a tendency to eat their victims.

    I always love when pasta writers actually draw upon folklore from cultures around the world. For those of you who don't know this story was about an encounter with a kelpie, a water spirit from Scottish legends. The kelpie will entice an unsuspecting person into riding it. Then the creature will promptly gallop into a lake or river and drown the rider. In some stories they're also able to take on the form of a beautiful woman like a Siren. Other pasta writers should take heed. There are plenty of preexisting myths and legends that are far more horrifying than things like Jeff The Killer or Haunted Gaming Cartridges. I encourage more writers to write stories based on folklore like this one was.

    where I'm from, they're called Kelpie-Pookas (or just Kelpies). legend says that if one were to ride the horse, it would run to the nearest body of water and drown the rider.

  • @virgygames1524

    This sounds exactly like a Scottish Kelpie. It's a kind of fairy that disguises itself as a beautiful horse, makes you entranced by it, then drowns you. I just learned about it last night, and I know I'm a bit late to be commenting on here, but holy heck...

    Hello Mr.Creepypasta ! You might not remember who I am, but I was that one girl who was freaking out at the Dallas Comic-Con from last month. Yeah, I'm the girl with all the fan stuff on. I just wanted to say thank you ! I would never think I'd ever meet you, and this is an awkward place to put a thank you, but it was the best I could. So again, thank you very much !

    This is the exact description of a Kelpie-a horse with slimy, wet fur that drags people into the water and drowns them by tempting them into riding it. It is a kind of malevolent fairy which can be warded off with rowan wood.

    • @killgriffinnow
      @killgriffinnow 9 років тому

      Friendshipismagic Holy shit, it is a kelpie! I'm so glad that this author actually took real folklore and turned it into a modern pasta! Crepypastas are simply modern folkstories (eriously, if you look at folkstories they are almost identical to many pastas like Slenderman) so adding creatures from older folklores is perfect!

    It sounds like a Kelpie. A ghastly water spirit assuming the form of a grayish black horse, the kelpie drowns then kills anyone who attempts to ride it.
    It is often spotted wandering along the shores of rivers or lakes, appearing to be a lost pony. Kelpies can be identified by a constantly dripping mane and skin, which is like a seal's but cold to the touch.
    The kelpie can be heard wailing before a storm and is able to cause water to rise high enough to flood.
    If you manage to bridle a kelpie, it can be forced to do your bidding, but woe betide you should it slip the harness.

    Kelpie! To kill a kelpie, stab with red-hot irons. To enslave it, draw a cross on a bridle and force it over the kelpie's head. (also, it's a type of fae, so iron stuff in general is effective in repelling it) I really liked this one! Thanks for narrating this!

    I love these kinds of pastas, where it involves some form of not well known mythology. First thought was maybe the creature could've been a Pooka. Though I doubt it'll try to drown you, but it is known that they can bring bad or good luck. The moon reference also got me thinking, as Pookas have some sort of close relationship/devotion to the moon, as they are said to only come out during the full moon.

    3:39 "What was I supposed to do if it was a cougar?"
    Yes...
    4:44 She was incredible. I forgot about the cougars immediately, that I'll admit.
    YES
    5:49 She smelled like a combination of wet horse, and the woods the morning after it rained hard.
    YES!
    6:05 I wanted to touch her, I NEED to touch her, I can't explain the pull.
    YESSSSS!!!!!
    7:04 And to my utter joy and astonishment, she began to scratch and groom my head with her lips.
    Wait, what?
    7:22 But she had... plants... in it.
    Okay, I think I cna make this work, bring me a wood chipper and a couple of garden scissors thingys-
    7:50 Now I know horses are smart, but this one seemed to be over the top-
    Annnnnnd I turned myself into a brony.
