Thank you Sophie for all these great oil-free cooking tips!! I totally agree with you and viewer, Alixe, who commented below. Looking forward to oven roasting zucchini at lower temp, for longer time, without any oil. Super idea! Thank you, again!!
Sophie Uliano Thank you Sophie! Over the weekend I roasted cubed organic zucchini, butternut squash, and purple onion at a low and slow temp of 300*, with your healthful tip of no oil at all. The veggies were so delicious!!!! So many applications for your technique. I can stir them into pasta, or stuff a potato avoiding all the dairy products!! Many thanks again, and blessings from Texas!!
I’ve just started learning about oil free living. I was one of those people that thought olive and coconut oil were fine. And although I have seen several videos about how unhealthy oil is, I haven’t seen videos on how to change your mindset in the kitchen. This was very helpful, especially showing the red peppers. Thank you so much for sharing this, it was fantastic!
1. Use broth instead of oil. 2. Equipment: -parchment paper -360 cookware (3 steel layer fast cooking and vapor cooking) -Slow cooker - in stews and soups, flavors can mix without burning. -Air Fryer 3. Low and slow in the oven. 4. Use bananas for baking.
Thanks for the video. I'm not entirely sure I want to commit to going the whole way yet, but I've just realised that I prefer to use the stovetop for most of my cooking and I do indeed use a good amount of oil over the number of dishes, so having options to reduce it would likely be better for my health in the long term. Any ideas on how to temper whole dry spices for e.g. Indian cuisine when cooking down a gravy base? Most of the time the recipes will call for cumin seeds/mustard seeds/green cardamom etc. to start crackling in the oil before the onions go in. Would broth really work for that? I'm thinking if it evaporates then some of that flavour will be lost.
I absolutely love your tips I knew the trick with applesauce I didn't know you could use bananas that's awesome I really want to try the saute with the broth and I have been saying forever we need an air fryer I was sold on the infomercial so thanks for sharing....... I'm sending out positive energy and Good Vibes
I’m a brand new subscriber, so maybe this won’t get seen. But I believe this information to be true, however when I cook without oil the food just doesn’t taste very good and I find myself overeating later to compensate for the lack of satisfaction. I wish there was a way to make food taste as good when not sautéed in at least a tiny amount of oil, but until then I try to just reduce it to the very lowest amount of oil I can get away with. Maybe over time my (and my families) taste buds will adjust. However! I do agree we would be better off cooking without oil, health wise and I wish I didn’t feel it’s absence so strongly
You know, Allison, I'll have to check! I usually make my own (I just happened to be out that day). Do you make your own? How do you avoid oil in your stock?
Thank you for this video! You are SO RIGHT - oils have NO nutritional value and it's SO easy to over consume them. Dr. John McDougall has a great website that gives all sorts of good reasons to go without oil. Eat an olive or an avocado! (etc...).
Thank you. I wrote this while ago: I wish more attention was paid to sauteeing with broth, or dry fry cooking. For me, it is like learning to cook all over again. But the oil is deadly to the circulatory system, as has been shown with the electron microscope before and after eating a fatty meal. It was shown before our very eyes that the blood, usually circulating along at 25 mph slows to a molasses-like sludge after a fatty meal. This goes on for some ten hours while the cells and organs are starved for oxygen before the body recovers!
Coco Pops Yes, I agree. Everything in moderation. You NEED oils, and calories to survive. But I think the problem for many is that they already consume more than enough fat, meaning cooking in oil is just more fat (which is too much depending on what they have eaten). So for some people not cooking in oil is important to reduce the amount of fat in their diet (if they eat to much fat). But fat itself is not bad :)
avacado is best for cooking with because of the high temp it can go to. Olive is best for drizzling on salads if you don't wanna cook with it. coconut oil shouldn't ever be heated for cooking though! it'll end up harming you. You can eat that cold. we need good fats. It's like processed carbs. Get carbs from veggies instead :)
not saying calories and fat are bad at all. But the healthiest fats are WHOLE foods such as nuts, seeds, avocados etc. The longest living populations ate plant oils for sure, but they didn't fry in them everyday.
I hate to say it but I have to agree with you. What about virgin coconut oil? There are many healthy oils, you just need to use them wisely and in moderation. Of course they are high in calories, they're fats. I love avocados too and they're full of healthy fats.
Well think about this: Refined sugar: cane sugar, coconut sugar e.t.c. aren't good for us. They are purely carbohydrates and have no other nutrtional value. And oil is purely fat, having no other nutritional value. Like taking a coconut and purely taking the carbs from it to make coconut sugar, taking a coconut and purely taking the fat from it is bad for us. I suggest eating the WHOLE coconut to get all the nutrients, go straight to the source.

Donna, let me know how it goes for you!!

Hi, thanks for sharing your tips, can I buy the equipment from Spain?
I think you actually can - just go to the websites and find out if they have International shipping.
thank you so much....send you love and the best vibrations ;)
How much heat can vegetable broth handle?
That pan is now on my wishlist! How have I not heard of that brand?
I feel you, Patty! They fly under the radar but they are AWESOME
Sophie, can you say why you didn't recommend flax instead of oil? I've just started on the no oil change.
Definitely whole flax seeds instead of flax oil!

¡GRACIAS! I DO THE SAME, ALSO, WHEN I USE WATER I ADD NON GMO LIQUID AMINOS OR NON GMO SOY SAUCE AND ORGANIC GARLIC POWDER OR OTHER SPICES.
Great idea!

Great content!Keep it up.
I thought that I can get omega and vit E from oils. So where I can take it now?
The best way for you to get your Omega 3's is from Flax seed. You can also take a golden algae supplement, which is way safer than a fish oil.
I've switched to silicone mats instead of parchment paper.
Such a smart switch!
I thought that brand of Vegetable broth has oils in the ingredients.
You know, Allison, I'll have to check! I usually make my own (I just happened to be out that day). Do you make your own? How do you avoid oil in your stock?
I love your accent, what is it?
English :)
Sophie, You forgot the sauté feature on the Instant Pot!!!
Such a good point, Sherri!

Love Dr. John McDougall - he is so unafraid to say it how it is!!!
Yes!!!
Thanks for the information. I'm looking for ways to add more plant-based meals to my diet and would love to get away from using so much olive oil! :O
My pleasure!! Stay tuned for more recipes!
Thanks, some of the broths contain have oil, read the labels.

Coco Pops not true
It is really disappointing to hear you speaking out against healthy fats. Sorry to say, but I'm unscribing.

The_Vegan_ Sweet_Potato very well said. It's so so easy to cook without oil
Thank you (:
Virgin coconut oil is a SATURATED fat - should be used in MODERATION.
