I occasionally cook with olive oil but I bought an air fryer and made sweet potato wedges with just one tablespoon oil. Seasoning and I made a cheezy cashew Alfredo sauce in my food processor to dip them in. Yummmm!!!
I too follow Satvic lifestyle and food habits which does not require oil at all , instead it includes all sorts of nuts, seeds and whole foods with minimal cooking. It makes me feel so good, active and energetic too :)
This is so true, I do eat quite a bit of olive oil when I cook tomato based dishes but cutting out 80% of it really has made such a difference to my gut health
I cut oil out a few months ago and it was a lot easier than I thought and I really don't miss it. I like to use veggie broth or water to saute and parchment paper has been awesome for baking. I'm hungry for your Mom's potato chips, they look so good! Have a great weekend!
This is what I struggle with getting across to other people the most, also struggle myself to find dishes I can make oil free that still cook well and taste good. This information is much needed! 🙌🏽
Born and raised in a Mediterranean country, cold pressed extravirgin olive oil has always been part of my diet. Never exceeded in the amount used, a teaspoon is enough to dress my salad and it helps to absorb vitamin E and all the other fat-soluble micronutrients. It is extremely expensive to buy avocados here, even if there is a tiny amount coming from the southern part of my country. I prefer to stick to produce that belongs to our food tradition, and that has a lower impact on environment, because when I think that an avocado on my table has to fly all over the world to reach my plate, I feel I am not doing the right thing to preserve this planet. I do not critique your choice, max respect, but I prefer when you and all the other influencers suggest awareness on foods rather than invite to 'demonize', or show items, gadgets, and ingredients that could not be that affordable everywhere. Take care guys and keep on smiling !
I agree with you. Olives and olive oil are 14% saturated fat and so are cashew nuts. In fact I think those nutzzare 16% saturated fat. When cold extracted the nutrients are not all lost. I use a tiny amount for the same reasons and use water if I need to. The unsaturated fats actually help the heart. The science is there. The only problem is weight gain. So use sparingly
I understand your choice, although I don't cook with oil. You seem to be reasonable, because many of the people encouraging others to use olive oil ("because it's healthy") are encouraging the use of much more than a teaspoon per serving.
@@aureliaglenn2220 any dressing or seasoning must not cover the flavour of any element of a dish. Seasonings and dressings have to exalt the main ingredient of a dish.

This is really great info. I stopped cooking with oils long ago but it’s thought provoking to hear ways and reasons to not eat oils in dressings, hummus, and dips. Thank you! I love these types of videos! Gives tons of tricks and advices. Without a gallbladder, I need to keep a bit of oil in my diet otherwise my digestion will painfully block but I do minimize it to just what I need.
This is a wonderful oil free cooking hacks all-in-one video! It combines a lot of the tips I’ve seen over the years - I’d refer any friend who’s interested in this lifestyle to this video!
Awesome job explaining why we should all be oil free in the kitchen. I appreciate you guys for jumping right into the video and skipping the unnecessary fluff. ❤💚🥦
I’m currently eating more raw foods. I will say I feel good. Better than I do when I eat cooked, vegan food. Mimi Kirk uses a little oil sometimes and she’s an 83 year-old raw vegan. Don’t think I could give oil up entirely. I do like my tofu cooked in a bit of oil.
Thanks for sharing this informative video Erin & Dustin because I want to avoid oils because it is causing skin issues and I find when I consume oils I am more likely to be sick 😰. Love 🥰 the video and love 💞 the Stanczyks.
As a nutritional counselor I believe fats can be healthy if they are the right kind, even essential for the body. Hemp, Pure Virgin Olive Oil, Flax and Coconut Oil are all great and have anti Inflammatory aspects. In small amounts they have a place in our diets. Of course I totally respect your eating habits and think your channel is wonderful and inspiring. Thanks for sharing!
Absolutely loved it. And thank you for inspiring me to get off oil last year. Huge difference for me. Especially as I was so emotionally invested kn olive oil with my italian background hehe
Great Video ! This has inspired me to cut that last bit of oil we use . I know oils are my acid reflux trigger , unfortunately Avocado sets it off too 🤦♀️ love greens with Avo 😔hoping to be able to go back to it after cutting other oils 🤞
Hi guys! Another great video!!Love this thank you! For your moms thin potatoes slices, how would I make those at home? Unless your going to add to the meal planner 😜
Great examples of cooking without oil. What do you use on your waffle iron when you make your protein waffles to keep them from sticking? also pancakes? Thanks.
It’s so true! People are so into eating fat and protein these days but we are forgetting about Whole Foods like that! For me personally I gain weight when I eat too many fat grams.
I love the content of this video. Thank you for educating me on better sources to obtain fats. I don't cook with oil but it is difficult to explain to my loved ones that it's better to omit oil from our food. The response I get is usually that "olive oil is good for you'.
Great video 🤩 but I tried the starch solution, also no go with oil and fat. But I notice that I was down, have no energy and I feel tired . When I took some nuts and 🥑 I feel so much better
Great video and one worth repeating regularly. My only query is that I heard Dr. Gregor say not to cook Tofu in the air fryer? I was going to buy one to cook tofu so as not to have to turn on the oven but didn't once I heard his advice. Have you heard to the contrary?
Thank you for the great video as usual! 😊 My question is: why is tahini generally considered okay when oils aren't? I love tahini but my understanding is that it's mostly fat. 🤔
A good tip that I do for a non stick stainless steel frypan is to heat it on low for ten to twenty minutes before hand. Because stainless steel has layers that you need to get the heat through.
I am so happy you did this very thorough video of why we don’t eat oil and how to cook without. 2 days I met two ladies at the gym who said they were eating plant based. I asked if they ate oil free and they looked at me like I was crazy. They each said they eat olive oil . I told them the downfalls and they have never heard of such just that it is essential. I told them to look up Dr Gregor who they have never heard of. I think some people here of just eat plants a d probably the meat replacements that have lots of fat, and they don’t learn all the benefits, etc. if I see them again, I will direct them to this video. Thanks for all the good you do by sharing your knowledge.
I stopped cooking with oils about 80%. Just recently got an airfryer which should get me to 100%! Fat in general, like protein, is over rated. We just need small amounts and I'd rather spend my fat calories on more nutritious and tasty foods like nuts, seeds, avocado and coconut yogurt. Great video!
I feel like the evidence is divided but definitely leans more towards the fact that veg oils are healthy. I get the thing about the calories - that’s the reason I like to cook without oil, too - but not sure about the health aspects.
As an American who moved to the Abruzzo region of Italy three years ago and is married to an Abruzzese, I will give you some information from my perspective on olive oil if you will allow. Everyone in my husbands family dies after the age of 90 with the exception of a few. All of the olive oil that we consume is produced at our local co-op from trees that grow in our town. It is about as farm to table of a product as you can possibly make and the actual processing of it in our local co-op is pretty rudimentary. We aren’t using it in abundance, only in moderation but the proof is in the pudding that consumption of this liquid gold in moderation does not do hard-core long-term damage to your body. If I make it to 97 and 98 like my husband‘s grandparents it will be a blessing. One thing I have noticed here in this region though is that they are obsessed with being a locavorian which at this time of climate crisis is extremely important for the planet. We need to be eating in abundance the products that are available closest to us and not flying exotic things all over the planet causing massive amounts of carbon emissions in the process. Italians are very very good at being locavores and that is something I appreciate very much about the culture here into my lifestyle and maybe something to think about. Yes we want to be healthy but not at the expense of the only planet we know to call home.
