      I occasionally cook with olive oil but I bought an air fryer and made sweet potato wedges with just one tablespoon oil. Seasoning and I made a cheezy cashew Alfredo sauce in my food processor to dip them in. Yummmm!!!

      I too follow Satvic lifestyle and food habits which does not require oil at all , instead it includes all sorts of nuts, seeds and whole foods with minimal cooking. It makes me feel so good, active and energetic too :)

    This is so true, I do eat quite a bit of olive oil when I cook tomato based dishes but cutting out 80% of it really has made such a difference to my gut health

    I cut oil out a few months ago and it was a lot easier than I thought and I really don't miss it. I like to use veggie broth or water to saute and parchment paper has been awesome for baking. I'm hungry for your Mom's potato chips, they look so good! Have a great weekend!

    This is what I struggle with getting across to other people the most, also struggle myself to find dishes I can make oil free that still cook well and taste good. This information is much needed! 🙌🏽

    Born and raised in a Mediterranean country, cold pressed extravirgin olive oil has always been part of my diet. Never exceeded in the amount used, a teaspoon is enough to dress my salad and it helps to absorb vitamin E and all the other fat-soluble micronutrients. It is extremely expensive to buy avocados here, even if there is a tiny amount coming from the southern part of my country. I prefer to stick to produce that belongs to our food tradition, and that has a lower impact on environment, because when I think that an avocado on my table has to fly all over the world to reach my plate, I feel I am not doing the right thing to preserve this planet.
    I do not critique your choice, max respect, but I prefer when you and all the other influencers suggest awareness on foods rather than invite to 'demonize', or show items, gadgets, and ingredients that could not be that affordable everywhere. Take care guys and keep on smiling !

      I agree with you. Olives and olive oil are 14% saturated fat and so are cashew nuts. In fact I think those nutzzare 16% saturated fat. When cold extracted the nutrients are not all lost. I use a tiny amount for the same reasons and use water if I need to. The unsaturated fats actually help the heart. The science is there. The only problem is weight gain. So use sparingly

    • @aureliaglenn2220
      @aureliaglenn2220 2 роки тому

      I understand your choice, although I don't cook with oil. You seem to be reasonable, because many of the people encouraging others to use olive oil ("because it's healthy") are encouraging the use of much more than a teaspoon per serving.

    • @cristinafustini6217
      @cristinafustini6217 2 роки тому

      @@aureliaglenn2220 any dressing or seasoning must not cover the flavour of any element of a dish. Seasonings and dressings have to exalt the main ingredient of a dish.

    As a nutritional counselor I believe fats can be healthy if they are the right kind, even essential for the body.
    Hemp, Pure Virgin Olive Oil, Flax and Coconut Oil are all great and have anti Inflammatory aspects. In small amounts they have a place in our diets.
    Of course I totally respect your eating habits and think your channel is wonderful and inspiring.

    I am so happy you did this very thorough video of why we don’t eat oil and how to cook without. 2 days I met two ladies at the gym who said they were eating plant based. I asked if they ate oil free and they looked at me like I was crazy. They each said they eat olive oil . I told them the downfalls and they have never heard of such just that it is essential. I told them to look up Dr Gregor who they have never heard of. I think some people here of just eat plants a d probably the meat replacements that have lots of fat, and they don’t learn all the benefits, etc.
    if I see them again, I will direct them to this video.
    Thanks for all the good you do by sharing your knowledge.

We just need small amounts and I'd rather spend my fat calories on more nutritious and tasty foods like nuts, seeds, avocado and coconut yogurt. Great video!

    As an American who moved to the Abruzzo region of Italy three years ago and is married to an Abruzzese, I will give you some information from my perspective on olive oil if you will allow. Everyone in my husbands family dies after the age of 90 with the exception of a few. All of the olive oil that we consume is produced at our local co-op from trees that grow in our town. It is about as farm to table of a product as you can possibly make and the actual processing of it in our local co-op is pretty rudimentary. We aren’t using it in abundance, only in moderation but the proof is in the pudding that consumption of this liquid gold in moderation does not do hard-core long-term damage to your body. If I make it to 97 and 98 like my husband‘s grandparents it will be a blessing. One thing I have noticed here in this region though is that they are obsessed with being a locavorian which at this time of climate crisis is extremely important for the planet. We need to be eating in abundance the products that are available closest to us and not flying exotic things all over the planet causing massive amounts of carbon emissions in the process. Italians are very very good at being locavores and that is something I appreciate very much about the culture here into my lifestyle and maybe something to think about. Yes we want to be healthy but not at the expense of the only planet we know to call home.

    How much fat a day would you recommend for a female, Erin? I ask because i want to optimise my fertility and get my period back after breastfeeding (and a history of disordered/restrictive eating)... i am a bit afraid of eating overt fats like avocado and nuts/seeds/coconut because of the plant based doctors, but i feel many of these doctors don't understand that different stages in life ask for different nutritional needs... if you have heart disease because you've been eating steak all your life, that is a different thing than a woman of child baring age who has lost her cycle due to undernourishment (and a radical low fat diet). I hope you can help me with a response, because with your two kids, you clearly are super fertile and know how to eat for fertility and health!
    Much love from the Netherlands 🥰
