Dolly, doesn’t like to sing this song anymore. (Too many past emotions), yet still performs. Linda Ronstandt is no longer able to perform. Sheena still performs, and occasionally sings this song. (Only Dolly, and Sheena, gave this song it’s TRUE, EMOTIONAL PERSPECTIVE). Whitney is dead.
There is a lot of talent but real talent have ethical lines they do not cross and the music industry does not care for ethics anymore. This is a different Hollywood.
I have some vinyl records with Sheena Easton, she was the muse of my teenage times... She'll be always in my mind. I'm living in Romania, one of the countries where the "western music" was forbidden in communist times, but for a wonderfull voice, there are no barriers !
Music, especially pop music, makes the world go round. A big part of the West winning over the Soviets and their satellite states is pop culture and American products and food ❤
"I Will Always Love You" is a song written and originally recorded in 1973 by American singer-songwriter Dolly Parton. Written as a farewell to her business partner and mentor Porter Wagoner, expressing Parton's decision to pursue a solo career,[1] the country single was released in 1974. The song was a commercial success for Parton, twice reaching the top spot of Billboard Hot Country Songs: first in June 1974, then again in October 1982, with a re-recording for The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas soundtrack. Whitney Houston recorded a soul-ballad arrangement of the song for the 1992 film The Bodyguard. .... ;)
OH MY GAWD!!!!! How did I not know this existed? I am a lifelong Sheena Easton fan. I have always loved this song. That the two are combined..... How did I miss this? Her voice is so pure and her interpretation is so spot on. Filled with beauty and just a touch of regret. Emotive and sweet and I am reminded why I have been in love with her for nearly forty years.
Me neither! And I absolutely love Sheena Easton, always have. Did you hear her version of wind beneath my wings? It’s just as incredible as this one. That lady has a voice of an angel.
She was always so unbelievably underrated. This version is fire 🔥 😍 While everyone was making a huge deal out of Cooter Madonna in the 80s, I was loving Sheena ❤️
You must be sleeping during the 80s because she was not underrated. She had many hit songs and won so many awards. She was talented and people recognized it.
Sheena’s interpretation has a purity and sincerity that holds its own against Dolly’s simplicity and tenderness, and Whitney’s passion and power. In all cases, the interpretations are beautiful. The song itself is beautiful.
Let’s don’t forget the Dolly Parton who wrote words and music meant to deliver in that timing and phasing. The others are good especially Whitney’s, but remember they are not interpretations but sung to their own strengths.
I saw Shenna Easton live many years ago before she became famous with the James Bond theme , she was such a lovely lady and my friend and l said to her she will go far as she had an amazing voice.
I always was in love with Sheena. But here she is, chatting with Barney Miller, without all that 80's makeup on her face and you know what? She is so much more beautiful. Wow!! Oh yeah, she is a brilliant singer too. I wonder how her Hagiss tastes.
I didn't realize and appreciate that Ms. Sheena Easton was one of the classic timeless beauty with the likes of Olivia Newton John, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronsdtant, Pasty Cline, Sophia Lauren...etc. until now that I watch this video.
I always LOVED Sheena's lighter airy side... This was just lovely! even her head voice high notes ... in everything from the high A in Morning Train the her stratospheric D6 in "Sugar Walls".... such a GREAT underestimated singer!!!
Sheena is the only crush I had as an adult. Such a beautiful voice then Miami vice. For your eyes only good luck and be safe sheena, love and respect, from this happily married man
We met Sheena in the 70’s when she accidentally came into our room at the Holiday Inn in Birmingham. She is a lovely girl and I’ve never forgotten her.
Sheena Easton has an incredible voice. Look for A.M.A. show from 1982, Sheena Easton and Olivia! Remember never compare versions, they are different kinds of singers.
First time seeing this..yes she is underrated. She 's one of those singers who can handle all sorts of songs and styles of music. This was wonderful, absolutely!..it was a thoughtful interpretation keeping the songs lyrics in mind..she sang it in service of song and it brought out more of the original D.Parton way of doing it...You don't always have to belt out or hold notes in infamy for every song to sell it to the audience.. Keep it simple .
Jay Johnson Fair enough. Dolly certainly has an irresistible quality to whatever she does, and it is her own song after all.. so I suppose I'd have to let her have it above Miss Sheena, were push to come to shove. Still.. this is a charming and flawless rendition.
Sorry, she's great, but not the "best". Dolly wrote it, but Whitney belted it out the best. Linda Ronstadt also had a voice of gold and is close to the "best". One of my favorite female singers, Karen Carpenter never got a chance to sing it.
daffidavit I've not heard the Ronstadt version, and I can't say I prefer Whitney to Dolly. Each of these ladies have brought their own unique gifts to a wonderful piece of music. What I like about this rendition is its humility and simplicity, so that is why my comments were offered. Humility seems missing in our current version of the entertainment industry. I guess I miss it. Blessings.
Saw Ms Easton two or three times -- Milwaukee at her peak, and again in Las Vegas some years later. I thought she had a first-rate pop soprano voice, and extraordinary diction and phrasing. Obviously she was strikingly beautiful, and in Vegas exuded enormous proud-Mom vibes as well. I think her best songs are at the absolute pinnacle, and even her regular ones showed tremendous emotional empathy and singing skill. I mean, Prince chose his collaborators very carefully, right? I hope she's happy. I suppose she's a Grandma now!!!!
Look up chevelle Shepard on UA-cam for her version of I WILL ALWAYS LOVE YOU. She is still a teenager and knocks this song out of the park with a version like Dolly & not Whitney.
Sheena Easton is one of my favorite singers. However there are still good singers out there. Try listening to Delta Goodrem, Karine Hannah (any of her Steinman songs), Alexz Johnson, Roy Khan (Kamelot's former lead singer), Tommy Karevik (Kamelot's current lead singer), Kent Hilli (lead singer of the group Perfect Plan), Toby Hitchcock (one of the lead singers of Pride of Lions), etc.
I had the good fortune of sitting in the front row with Mrs. C. who took me over to the show of Miss Easton's. Quite an occasion. Many years later I saw Basia in San Francisco, also in the front row. These are my only two front-row experiences for any of my top ten favorite divas which Miss Easton and Basia are both members of. Enjoy. Sopranos carry our race forward.
THETE WAS SO GOOD , I MEAN GREAT ARTIST WHEN I EAS IN MY TEEN THRU SEVENTIES AND MOM MADE SURE I KNEW HER TIME FRAME .. BLESS THEM , BRINGING ALL THIER STORIES OF LOVE HURT SURVIVAL.. BUST MOST OF ALL TRING TO UNITE US TO LOVE AND BE KIND BECAUSE WE ALL BLEED. GIVE A HUG TO URS. BLESS 💞💞💞💞

Sheena Easton is still performing today and she still looks and sounds fabulous, may God continue to bless this beautiful woman
Beautiful, can we please get these incredibly talented singers back in the music industry again ....PLEASE !!!!!😍😍😍😍
Nowadays, you've literally got to sell your soul to the devil to make it big in the entertainment business! Some don't want to make that deal.
Here's why.
Go to "UA-cam" and type in:

She's so gorgeous, lovely and sings with such genuine passion and conviction... i just love her : D
She sings like a angel!
She is an angel !
That is such a nice version of the song. Sheena sings it beautifully. Far far better than being shouted out.

Paula for me, truly moving magic.

Holy crap....never heared Shena this...I loved it

Sheena easton is legendary singer of all time
Sheena’s interpretation has a purity and sincerity that holds its own against Dolly’s simplicity and tenderness, and Whitney’s passion and power. In all cases, the interpretations are beautiful. The song itself is beautiful.
True and I believe that generally any artistic interpretation was done during the 80's will be nice :)
Romeo Santos not bad...you have to be pretty damned good to follow Dolly, Whitney, Linda Ronstadt...
Let’s don’t forget the Dolly Parton who wrote words and music meant to deliver in that timing and phasing. The others are good especially Whitney’s, but remember they are not interpretations but sung to their own strengths.
I was just thinking how to compare versions- you nailed it. That highlighted their different virtues very well.
Romeo ,for me,your comment is spot on ,well said sir!
Touched By An Angel always had great stars you were surprised by.

Saw Sheena at NJ Garden State Arts Center in the early 80;s and was a great show, from a great singer.........such nice memories .......
I've always love her and thought she has the best voice. I grew up listening to only her songs.
Speechless.. this is the best
Hal still looks great, the song is a tear jerker.
Sheena Easton in Touched by an Angel, it's heavenly!
Jack's Place 1992
Is that the movie she was in when she sang this? Was it a movie? Love to have it!
Dolly, Whitney and Sheena. The best of the best. Truly...
Don't forget Linda's rendition
@@lsusmuggler you talking about Linda Ronstandt , & if so I bet she made it sweet & then Whitney Houston had to go ruin it
