    I have a nosler m48 heritage in 26 nosler, I love it I wanted the liberty stock but when I saw the heritage sitting on my local Bob wards sporting goods store shelf at 1,650.00 retail was 1,900.0 I just couldn't pass on it the wood stock was so pretty. I broke in the barrel and unfortunately my life took drastic changes the next yr and has been hard since I just haven't hunted with it but killing a coyote. I put a 1st gen sig Sauer Whiskey 5 50mm scope with sig rings, the scope brand new was less than 1,000.0 At the same store I couldn't say no to that either. I wanted the 42mm but they didn't have one. I put the nosler neoprene sling and it was done, unfortunately for me it weights 10 lbs which is 2 lbs over my 1970's Ruger m77 3006 which stinks but I love it and my ruger. The 140 ab factory ammo shot better than the 142 ablr factory ammo. The worst part is the ammo when I got it was 70 a box and now has almost doubled. I am going to hunt spring bear in Montana were I live with it next spring. That nosler was my first gun purchase ever so I will pass it down some day. The one thing I found about my 3006 is it don't like the Hornaday eldx 178 factory ammo so I will stick with the core lockt because they flew perfect and killed every elk I ever had a shot at. Great video

    6.5 WBY RPM is the satellite bull between the herd bull 6.5-300 WBY, and the rest of the 6.5 herd. Gives you the horsepower, accuracy and less of the contrary arguments so trumped up against the 6.5-300.

    I love this round. My only complaint is it's speed. Anything within 400 yards, the round tends to poke right thru an elk

    One thing that doesn’t ever get talked about is barrel length. The truth of the matter is that there is no such thing as an inefficient cartridge. There is such a thing as too short of a barrel to make the cartridge efficient. You have to have the barrel length to burn all that powder. In return, you get more performance. A large powder charge going into a small bore does cause more erosion . That is true but that same throat erosion occurs in every cartridge.

    Does the rifle blow up when you shoot it? If not... NO, it’s NOT TOO MUCH. It’s not even the most powerful 6.5mm cartridge. I’m sick of people that can’t handle recoil whining like a two-year-old about so called “overbore” cartridges. If people want to push a bullet faster, let them!!! ALL of them probably drive a car that goes faster than the speed limit or live in a house that’s “bigger than needed.” Enough said.

    I'm in the process of building my hotrod cartridge which is a 6.5 ultracat (aka 6.5-300 rum). I'm excited to get it done I think it's going to be a lot of fun. It's going to have short barrel life but that's the price you pay for performance. Everyone have a great day and I will

      @Brian Supermag I have 2 loads worked up for. First one is for the 127gr lrx running 3,760 fps, load wise was 104.5 grns of US869, but the barrel sped up 40-50 fps and now I have to back the powder down a couple grns and retest. The other load is a 130gr eld-m running 3,700 fps, it was at 102.5gr of US869 it's now at 101gr after the the barrel sped up. At 1000 yds it drops 149.5 inches sighted in at 100yds, it's still going 2125 fps w/1,303 lbs of energy. It still has 1000 lbs at 1,200 yds, it has 6 mil drop. About 4.2 mil at 1,000 yds. I do apologize for taking this long to reply back.

    Hand loads of 22-250 can be loaded to a velocity of 4500ft/s without great loss in barrel life because you aren't pushing a large pill down the barrel. In my opinion, many new cartridges like 26 Nosler are chasing performance specs, only. Yeah, you're only going to get 700 rounds on a 26 Nosler barrel, but those specs are amazing!

    • @ReloadingWeatherby
      @ReloadingWeatherby  2 роки тому +2

      But if you hunt with the 26 Nosler you should have plenty of years of hunting before burning out the barrel.

    • @tacticalmattfoley
      @tacticalmattfoley 2 роки тому

      @@ReloadingWeatherby That's what I can't figure out: are we shooting or hunting with these cartridges by design. Most of the most popular cartridges which have staying power extend from military rounds or military contracts--even Weatherby wildcats like 30-378. 30-06 is the best example of this, but something like 6mm ARC is a weird one--excellent ballistics but why does it really exist?

      I have shot over 1000 rounds out of my 7mm STW. At least 600 of them were a 127gr bullet at 3850fps. It will still print sub .5moa. You will get way way more than 700rnds out of a 26 Nosler if you take care of the gun.

      300 RUM is loosely based off the 404 Jeffery, so the 26 Nosler could have that same argument. However the dimensions are a little different.

    Built one strait 30" bull barrel pushing 140 grn accubond at 3481 fps. The rifle weights 25 lbs shoots under 1/2 moa. Dont shoot it much sure throat erosion is a problem. Have shot deer at 900 yds drops them like a rock. Its a shooter but it is strictly a very long range hunting rifle. I zeroed it, shoot to verify zero shoot deer put it up till next year. @Reloading Weatherby I JUST bought a brand new 26 nosler directly from Nosler, Ammunition, Holly crap! Thank God I reload, -- many moon ago I bought a 30-378 Weatherby, in a sako action. Back then 20 brass 40.00 a box. Now 25 nosler brass 100.00 (if you an find it).
      Anyhow, I will be doing some LONG range shots, I used to run 200 grain accubonds on my 300 rum. Looks time to goto 210 LR- accubonds. See how they compare in the field at 500 to 1000 yards.... be fun finding the right load for thr Nosler.
