This Ultra-Light Diving System Makes Scuba Accessible To Anyone
Вставка
- Опубліковано 27 сер 2024
- This lightweight scuba diving system lets you dive without the use of heavy tanks. The Nomad, which is developed by blU3, lets you explore shallow waters without the need to keep rising for air.
The device works by floating on the surface of the water. A compressor takes fresh air and delivers it to the diver, who is attached to a 40ft air hose. Nomad allows users to dive up to 35ft and charges via USB, providing over 60 minutes of usage from a single charge.
Experienced and novice divers can use the system, but it is advised to receive proper training before taking part in any diving activities. Nomad is crowdfunding on Kickstarter and will cost around £719 with a ship date set for December 2018.

This is pretty cool!
DALLMYD u should check out their website
Its very interstenig but not really cool
I bet I’ll be so cool with this in a swimming pool.
XD
00:05 those GUE divers in the background are laughing at this.
Somehow, the "This device charges from USB ports" does not inspire confidence in me.
i do compressor diving almost everyday for a liiving. over 6 months we have done over about 730 hours (3-5 hours a day).
to have an electrical compressor handle 2 people for 4-5 hours you need 100ah 24v (if you use inverter) / 200ah 12v (for 12v compressor) the weight of those batteries alone makes you unable to glide around on a skateboard (LIFEpo4).
a compressor that can handle 2 people down to 15m demand around 650w (1 person to about 40m) this is due to lack of CFM and the weight is easily over 10kg with a small airtank.
to be able to run a compressor system that can handle the CFM of 2 people for any period of time will never be able to be charged by usb within reasonable amount of time and you will not be able to glide around on a skateboard.
with that said its not impossible to make a device as shown that can run for 30-60min down to 5m (lightweight small compressor) and it could be charged by usb it will just take forever
What makes Scuba accessible to everyone is proper training! Accessibility has nothing to do with having the tank at the surface vs having it on your back. TRAINING is what makes it accessible.
Dammit, another one of my ideas made physical before I could patent it... Side question, how DO you patent stuff?
ask google its realiy easy
but it has a lot of procedures
You will have to go to your local patent office provide detailed plans of your idea and pay for hours of the patent offices time so that they can insure your “idea” dose not already exist it is very expensive
Fbiy6 true that may be expensive but not as expensive as someone else taking credit for it
.
This already exists, it’s called snuba. The air tank is on a raft and you have a tube leading down to you. I did it in Hawaii last year.
So is it really scuba diving or just high tech snorkeling
Luke Boshoff high tech snorkeling
You have to stay near the top for snorkeling, this is diving
Iv done this. You can’t feel the tank underwater so it’s really not worth it. But it’s the exact same thing as scuba but attached to a string
It’s called snuba. It already exists. Look it up.
fake name Ive done snuba before its great since i didnt have certification
I've been using a similar system for a couple of years. In fact I am the process of upgrading to an 80 cfm system (awaiting delivery). I would not go back to bottles for my type of diving, although I do Always dive with a small emergency backup pony bottle. However, I have been a professional (commercial) diver for over 30 years. I certainly would not recommend these systems for an untrained or novice diver.
What would you advise using for someone who just wants to be 8 - 10 feet underwater? I can't spend a lot of money and might need to be under for 2 - 3 hours. Certainly would come up for breaks, just stating a total time for the day.
So, a battery-and-compressor based Snuba?
I wouldn't risk my life on something as unreliable as my mobile phone's battery.
shallow water?
I was expecting deep water
Jean paul ramirez my idea was to go as low as 100 ft because that's as low you can go with surface air
Diving any deeper than 30ft would be dangerous especially if people went diving without any normal diving training
Chancey at least someone here knows what the're talking about. I keep seeing these "just bring a water bottle filled with air!"
Anselope Most people don't even think about the risks of things like not breathing and coming up to fast to find they've burst a lung
That would be dangerous for the untrained diver. Like really really really dangerous.
What a gorgeous view of those ummmm, oh ya the gear!😀😘😘😘
It’s called Snuba, people have been doing it for years in Hawaii and Mexico. Nothing special about this.
People have been doing Snuba for decades!
Ya I did it when I was younger on a tour boat when I first went to Hawaii like 20 years ago
"It’s called Snuba..."
Snuba is a brand name for one type of hookah rig.
@@seikibrian8641 SNUBA is a scuba tank supplied air system not available for individual use, they only offer guided tours. The BLU3 product line is a ultra-light weight high performance battery powered system with the worlds first "Smart Regulator" at the core of this technology revolution. BLU3 Nemo weighs in at 10-lbs and sells for $800 and runs for over 1-hour on a ~1lb quick swap battery.
but... the tank is lightweight when you are in water...
.....yes but have you ever tried walking meters to the surf wearing a 15 ltr. tank, 8Kg of lead AND a 3 ltr pony cylinder.....then you have to exit!!!
Basically an extra long snorkel
Very convenient and clever. The only flaw is how easy it would be to sever the air tube. But as long as the air supply is mobile. It ought to pay for itself soon enough.
I wouldn't worry about severing the hose: to do so would require some very deliberate action, and even if the provided hose was on the flimsy side, I would be surprised if you couldn't swap in a better one yourself.
What I would worry about would be playing Russian Roulette with embolism against something as unreliable as my mobile phone's battery.
This will be great next flood!
Awesome idea..
I had this idea when I was a kid. My dad convinced me it was a bad idea and that it couldn't or shouldn't be done...
Kickstarter mehh.... ...... ...... means possibly you won't get it no guarantee
fratcal although, unlike most of the things on Kickstarter, this doesn’t seem impossible
@@kgamer1715 I see a lot of stuff on K that are not impossible but a lot of it is already for market before the K starts taking money....then there are stalls and eventually some crap out of China is delivered to you after they figure out how to cheapen it even more for more profit.
Can you do safety stop easily?
This already used long time at my place using modified air compressor.
And if the line break?...
Its 10 meters max. You should get to the surface if u are able to swim.
say your prayers!!
SilentKiLrr23 getting to the surface and getting embolism. Anyway I don't think that breaking the line is too much likely to happen. There are many more problems with this device
Laventador Alindog gosh ur picture looks like something else
Anime Lover what does it look like? 😂😂😇😇
Also the ninja h2o mask. It’s a mask that full face and lets you breathe through your nose. No tank or floating light tank required. Just the mask.
That looks very cool
Everybody gangsta till some jackass turns it off while you're underwater. Maybe have like a pincode to turn it off lol
0:00
*T H I C C !*
The music is nice!
A good prospect for Physiotherapy!
garden hose + a floating thingy
Nice Bass.
What if a big fish with sharp fins or a rock cuts the like or it gets tangled
So it might be my lack of scuba-experience talking, (since I only did it once for now).. but in the water those tanks aren't really something you feel as weight. Hell, you even have lead to increase your weight if needed. - Still though, this looks pretty cool.
Matthijn Dijkstra when it's near empty, it's impossible to get to the bottom of a 4 foot pool. You just can't without weights.
Seen these on snorkel boats for a long time. Many tour boats will have something very simular.
It's Snuba lol
good idea
So how do you know when it's gonna run out of power
I know you can tell when your dead
* When YOU'RE dead.
It says it will be ready to ship by December 2018 in description but on the website it says summer 2019 ?
But it only works on shallow beaches. So its only for specific circumstances. Though you dont need to waste money on oxygen tanks is great.
Ilsunny Lo when you dive you can't use oxygen tanks. You would go high as after smoking a chunk and then die via hyperoxia. Tanks are loaded with natural air.
"you dont need to waste money on oxygen tanks"
* AIR tanks, not oxygen tanks. Pure oxygen is toxic under pressure. Most divers use plain old compressed air, although some use special mixtures for special purposes; for example Nitrox, Heliox, tri-mix, etc. (Pure oxygen is sometimes used by tech divers during decompression stops, but only at shallow depths.)
"You would go high as after smoking a chunk"
That's more like nitrogen narcosis. Oxygen toxicity often has no symptoms, and then you suddenly go into convulsions and drown.
SeikiBrian I didn't know that oxygen goes toxic under pressure. Thanks for the correction.
" I didn't know that oxygen goes toxic under pressure."
Yes, and it's one of the things taught in scuba classes, especially in classes about mixed-gas diving. In addition to "no decompression limits," most dive computers also track "PO2," which is the partial pressure of oxygen, and they'll tell you to ascend if you're getting into dangerous territory with regard to O2 toxicity since it doesn't always give you a warning. Sometimes you'll get numbness or tingling in your hands, or muscle twitching, but often there's no warning and then bam! You start convulsing. This isn't meant to scare anyone off; scuba diving is lots of fun and most people can do it, but proper training is essential because some dangers aren't "common knowledge."
Scuba.... self contained underwater breathing apparatus.
This isn't "scuba"
smart and safe, NiCE!!
Usb charging ports?
Now I should patent a little raft for a usb solar panel to plug into the little oxygen raft to charge it.
You know what will be awesome? Those equipment that can purify air from water.
U need to look at Triton Oxygen Respirator then
@@psyflora That thing has been shown to be a total scam.
The best option at this time is to get certified and in est in some actual gear.
unless it provides high pressure air, it'll be very difficult to breathe at 10ft and impossible at 20ft
I would like to test it in the red sea
I seen philipinos sea gypsy use the same system using air compressor
Do you need to be certified, to use this apparatus?
Wonder what will happen if someone on a boat was qurious what is that floating thing on the water and took it and driver off
Pretty close to snuba, I guess.
Ooh nice intro...
Donde se puede adquirir, estoy interesado en uno, mandarme información de cómo hacerlo muchas gracias
What about waves ?
Well, I'm afraid that boat propellers may chew up surface supplied air system hoses.
I'd just like to say that all your videos should start just like this one
You're basically trusting your life to a funky looking electric air pump floating on water surface. I wouldn't do that.
TY Z agreed. If hv done scuba diving. It's really scary if for any reason the air supply is cut while you're underwater.
The system must have a way to avoid water into the system hose and a 10 minute safety should the air supply is suddenly cut from the surface. This could be by means of an emergency mini scuba bottle attached as part of the system. At 40 ft I guess is enough to get the diver surfaced (not consulting the diving rule book).
Other then the above, it's cool piece of equipment.
Cool
Where can I buy this product
Are you ready to release the new 35’ model for sale
Thank you Scott Andrews
It's called snuba. I would say it is more dangerous than scuba diving. What happens if you lose your regulator during a dive. You won't have regulator recovery skills taught to every novice diver. I've personally seen 1st scuba divers learn this skill and screw up, yet as dive professionals we are there to render aid. Overall i see this as a dumb idea. It restrictes depth of dives, allows a long hose (easily to be caught on anything), no back up octopus reg. I could go on with more, but this is just a company trying to make money of a damgerous product
Give it a try, it is an awesome experience and superior way to first enter the diving world. I have had the pleasure of diving literally almost every type of diving equipment and continue to do so. Shallow water diving without the complexity of unnecessary equipment (0-33 ft) is a great way to master the basics of breathing underwater, horizontal swim positioning, weight placements, etc. Check out the new Nemo 10ft model.
I want to buy this send me the link, this cool
This in not SCUBA. SCUBA is self contained underwater breathing apparatus
Interesting, but use metric next time, please.
This seems to have some merits but it is not a replacement for scuba diving and has its own set of dangers. There is not as much control and any manner of things could get caught on that little line.
Hey where can I buy this items (for diving) but can you send this to France thanks bye
>the device charges over usb ports
lmao
The cord cuts off
Just put a solar panel on top. Lol infinity scuba diving
This "device" is not SCUBA. I have major safety concerns about the system.
Scuba stand for :
Self
Contained
Underwater
Breathing
Apparatus
This is not in any way self contained. This thing could be a dangerous mess.
Interesting gadget, there are several other types on the market, but why oh why do these producers need to keep showing the female pelvic areas to persuade people to buy stuff?
@Wuanslm - really?
Not scuba gear , that’s surface supply.
So many things that could go wrong with this ..dangerous bet i would say
Scuba Diving? I don’t think so! Anyway, it’s kind of cool.
better if can use solar power ..
why's it need all that stuff ?? why not just have like a 5 meter hose conected to ya snorkel and a float that holds the other end of the hose out the water 🤷🏾♂️
It's cool but I will never get into ocean water.
Finally it's going to be less scary to learn to swim, without a hasty instructor😁
I Want One, How Much Is It In US Dollars?
It would probably be cheaper to get a SNUBA raft and an air tank to use. Also get a pump to refill air at the surface, it would be a lot cheaper.
Or just use a tube a"!
What if the shark bite that florescent wire?
* hose.
I feel like if I got this my cousins would fart or something when I’m diving
if you watch philippines fisherman and miners
Price??
I wouldn't take it for free, simply because I wouldn't bet my life and risk an embolism on something as unpredictable as Lithium Ion battery health.
But to each their own. The video says they expect a price of some 700 quid.
But how do you control buoyancy?
It’s on a float, it already exists.
Of course the compressor on the surface floats. I am asking how the diver controls his own buoyancy. With conventional diving equipment you pump air into your jacket or let it out. But the divers in the video don't seem to have that. You either drop like a rock or float like styrofoam if you can't adjust your buoyancy.
When I did it, we had weights, and we filled a vest with air until we would just stay in place
@@32SanX Hi 32SanX, you can control buoyancy with your lung. I learned scuba 30 years ago, we did not have an inflator jacket, just a plastic backpack thingy to strap the tank to your back. You take much less lead than with a inflator jacket (BCD). When breathing normally, you use approx 20% of your lung capacity. You can either fully breathe in and then do your normal breathing, and will have lots of buoyancy (lung 80-100% full) or fully breathe out and then breathe normally (lung 25 to 45 percent full = low buoyancy). There is always 25 remaining in your lung. Don't quote me on percentages, but you get the idea. Try it at a pool, you'll see it works: breathe fully out and you will sink. Then inhale as deeply as you can and you will float. Same idea.
There's like nobody putting money down on this in Kickstarter. It's a fail.
By defintion, this is not "SCUBA" diving.
High cost
*claims product is accessible to anyone*
*costs $1000*
Hallo Leute.
Hat jemand exolung schon bestellt?
دي بلا
So you're scuba diving through a hose.. huh.. sounds like the gold divers in Alaska just not as janky
SCUBA is an acronym, standing for self contained underwater breathing apparatus. This is hardly self contained, therefore whatever it is, it isn't scuba.......
Water is not wet 😑
Get it to $199 den I may buy
So basically portable hookah diving.
Underwater cpap machine
What is the point? Scuba is available to anyone who really wants it. Why snorkel on a teather? The beauty of scuba is the autonomy, the floating. And right: scuba bottles weigh next to nothing in the water... So: here is a device for snorklers that don't want to scuba dive, and cannot hold their breath to go 3 or 4 meters .... Great..
Can already get mini air tanks for $200 each, and pump them myself for 6min of air.
With some freediving skill, it is enough for most 30ft areas you are lugging this giant thing around in. And self-contained.
6 min maybe for u,but average person using .5 liter gets even less at 12 foot depth...many home made systems that cost under $300 to build get you an hour or more per battery..
If any one of here had any sort of diving certification they'd realize how dangerous this is.
The Arterial gas embolisms and pneumothorax's alone will bankrupt this unit.
Flat out sorry you shouldn't breathe underwater without a diving certification, you'll eventually hurt yourself.
Would be a problem for dives less than 20ft?
No, just no. We aalmost can produce a smaal peece that helps us to use the oxigen in thee whater itself to breath so having such a thing stored at home is quiet a whaste... there might be a use for it but thats about it I guess.
Cakeeeee
Yeah, it looks cool, but 1st you can't adjust your buoyancy Underwater, and 2nd, it looks unsafe dragging the apparatus with the tension on the hose, moreover, what if the battery is die and you're in the deepest stance, better free diving with snorkel on? And once again don't dive without any proper clothes on.
Their clothes ARE "proper" for the environment they're in.
쩌네~~~
There's nothing new about this.
