4:12 he's one of those tappers who changes the pick from fingers in order to tap with the index and I think that's impressive that he sweep picked and tapped like that before going back to holding it normaly.
he messed up here and there, but when he wasn't messing up he was absolutely on point. it still catches me off guard even though i've seen him play like this countless times
It breaks my heart to know that I existed in year 1997, but were two years old and had no idea of who Buckethead was or that Giant Robot would be making one of my future favourite records. Crap.
I keep this video on my desktop at all times. If i find myself being sad or alone, i'll pop this moment of buckethead that still mindblowns me to this day
I have been watching Bucket for over 20 years and saw him live 4 times 2 in the mid 90's when working in CA. It is so frickn wild to watch this videos of him from back then. He is so insanely good it defies the limits of mortal knowledge.
Hey man, I was at this show Thanks so much for posting this. Shawn Lane and Jonas Hellborg opened up and Buckethead blew them off the stage. Thanks Again!
it is absolutely buckethead. He is playing with Giant Robot II, a band that buckethead DID tour with in the time period. Look at his picking hand, and tapping style - it's unmistakable.
If you're talking about the two-fingers-plus-thumb grip Buckethead is using when he plays fast, he's not the only one to use this grip. Paul Gilbert (who, incidentally, briefly taught Buckethead) used the same grip for 8 years before turning the pick around to the style he uses now. PG explains it in "Paul Gilbert - Discussing Pick Mechanics" which can be found on UA-cam.
I see some of you guys complaining about how imperfect Brian can be sometimes, I would like to keep you guys aware that buckethead is sometimes completely blind during his shows, is very hard to see with that mask and the hair
How is it even possible to doubt that this is Buckethead? Everyone changes over the years. It's not like that's a very new phenomenon. Especially considering the clip takes place in '97.
First interdused to Buckethead in 2007 when i was 8 or 7 I didnt really like his music back then what i didnt know was i didnt know i was gonna go to 2 Buckethead concerts in 2012 in 2 months
@silkstringz Cant agree anymore. All ppl talk about "oh man he's so fast noone can play this". But actualy everyone who plays long enough is able to cover pretty much everything. But to create such a masterpiece of music, it takes a talent wich cant be learned at all. That whats music is al about.
seems like buckets really rockin out here and then he kinda just stood there at concerts but hes been more energetic lately. buckcethead for president \m/
@Hsals96 dont focus on the bucket and mask, just on what comes out of that guitar. the day will come when he (saddens me) will be gone and will be recognized as the genius that he is.
@NvdVen nah, this is a band called giant robot tht buckethead played in before he did stuff by himself, alot of buckethead songs were old songs tht he wrote wen he was still in giant robot, bucketheads second album was also called giant robot, so they get like mixed up sometimes
I'm not saying he wrote every note on a piece of paper, I'm saying he had themes. That's exactly what I mean. And at some point writing the songs, he has thought "oh, yeah, that fits perfectly! I'll include this in the song" he might improvise more than most musicians do but it almost sounds like you're saying he doesn't write songs
buckethead is the most versitile guitar player in the world because he plays like 10 different genres all extremely well and to those people saying that buckethead is better shredder than slash is like saying apples are better than hotdogs two different guitar players who have very famous careers and both should be respected
@TrevorWilsonHimself I honestly think that bucket might be using a form of sarod picking in this vid, it might just be inverted or something. I mean he is keeping a floating wrist, he is shaking his hand in a very sarod like way, and he certainly is zinging around the guitar with extreme momentum.. Another thing, pebber brown taught buckethead a huge variety of picking techniques, not just sarod, in fact I'm pretty sure that buckethead uses scalpul picking more.
@tapPOOH Strange, then its either a unknown Custom Pickup or someone which was at least not publically known much. I asked several People and they all responded that it has to be an DiMarzio Pickup.
4:12 a rare buckethead sweeping live moment
I literally come back to this video just to watch that sweep. Buckethead is awesome
What in the name of sweet fuck is that, Jesus! This guy's insane

4:12 blows my mind
concerning speed and precision I think Bucket was at this a-game during that time... the wetlands concert is just insane
idk about that bud are you deff?

Divine performance, really awesome, this guy's a pure genius, virtuoso

No offense to present-day Pinchface, but he was a fucking baller on drums at this age.
God i still remember this video. I was like 16 when my cousin introduced me to his songs. Can't believe time has passed by so fast. ❤️
I love his tone.
my mind has been blown... and im lost in never land somewhere...
lost in Bucketheadland... you'll never get out again muahahahaha :p
This is literally one of my favorite videos on earth, please never ever take this down. Long Live Big B!!!
Definently the best version of this song !!!!!!
Ive love dthis one since my first listen....i was hooked after listening to this show :)
Q from impractical jokers is killing it on the drums

Hey man,
I was at this show Thanks so much for posting this.

it is absolutely buckethead. He is playing with Giant Robot II, a band that buckethead DID tour with in the time period. Look at his picking hand, and tapping style - it's unmistakable.
wow, cool to see him into it and moving around!
I like the buckethead vs dj showdown at the end
Yeah. He's not human. And he's cool as fuck. Don't ever change Buckethead.
If you're talking about the two-fingers-plus-thumb grip Buckethead is using when he plays fast, he's not the only one to use this grip. I still like this, Buckethead's early incarnation playing an ESP.
WTF? this is the best thing i have seen in years! flawless!
That DJ is crazy
Wow, I never seen this. so much for a fan to like.
Oh my.... Nobody can cover it!
not even Buckethead!! xD
Tim Henson tried , he Died LOL
4:15 - 5:06 My favorite part
insane...
looks like he is holding the pick with the thumb and middle finger in the fast picking runs...
Yep, he holds it that way so he can tap with his index
This has to be the best Welcome to Buckethead live tape
Didn't think it was really buckethead at first but then i realized how old this vid was and i noticed that has to be him.
I see some of you guys complaining about how imperfect Brian can be sometimes, I would like to keep you guys aware that buckethead is sometimes completely blind during his shows, is very hard to see with that mask and the hair
pottergeist Thats Pinchface on drums
If there's one thing that owns more than a Buckethead solo, it's an extended Buckethead solo
how in the world does he move his fingers so fast i cant even do it for so long thus proving he actually put in so much effort into his music
How the hell has this only got 37,392 views!! im pretty sure this would be a fan favourite if more ppl knew about it!
Why this only has 27k views. Its pure epicness.
how many key changes did they go through at the end!?!??!?!?!?!!

i wish i was alive to witness this
the best "Welcome to BHLand" version on UA-cam!

@tapPOOH Its either a "Tone Zone S" or a "Air Norton S" (both from DiMarzio), but i think it sounds more like a Tone Zone.
Hope that helps
Sounds alot like Welcome to Bucketheadland to me.
buckethead's skill is impeccable.
its kinda like crazy train ... search for it here on youtube and youll see :)

as usual buckethead is more energetic and goes a greater concert back in the days. no hating on what he does atm.

There are good guitar-player
there are amazing players
there are legendary guitarreros
then there is Buckethead ^^
i prefer buckethead's esp days than he is now.

even though hes not paul gilbert he holds his pick like paul did before attending M.I.
really though, why does that even matter? i was two when cowboys from hell came out, never stopped me from fully appreciating the album later.
