That was awesome! I have been wondering about dying two of my daughters doboks. They are black and have stated to fade quite a bit and I wanted to freshen them up. They have embroidery on them and I saw that your dye didn't affect it. Are most martial arts uniforms embroidery made of synthetic material? Oh and she is adorable!
Would you ever do this for a customer? For a fee obviously lol. Im trying to get a blue hemp combat gi. I've been checking out your stuff for a week now and really fell in love with what your doing with your products. I'm planning on dope pants and a gi within the next month. Also are you making any more of the Eddie Bravo pants? Love those things lol I was too late to the party there's only A0 left. Your products are awesome, man. I've been looking it up all over the place for a week now. I'm obsessing a little actually 😂.
Thank you Dan! Those EB pants will be back very soon, probably a week or so and we should have some A0s :) I can't offer dyeing services for gis, for a bunch of reasons but I am going to see about doing some blue on the next run so look around late summer for that possibility. Or try it yourself, it's not too hard, just takes time. -Chris
@@DatsusaraGear Chris thanks for getting back to me. If I'm a normally a 36x29 or 30" length in jeans what size gi pants would you recommend? I like to dry my stuff about half way after washing. As a new white belt I currently only have one cheap gi A3 the pants are long and sleeves are a little long but I'm worried if I try shrinking everything it'll get too tight in the belly area. What size combat gi do you think I should buy from you and what size EB pants do you think? The pants will be for open mat no gi days
@@MateroDan No prob and I'd say A2 and medium but it's a tough call. I have a natural 34" waist but usually wear a 32x30 and in the gis I go A2, pants A2/ medium. But I weigh 170 at the moment, and I'm 5'9". So it's a tough call but usually gi pants have extra room in the waist so I'd worry more on length. -Chris
+nightmantis1 nope, but i do a few plain washes without material after just to be sure. also i'm guessing this isn't wonderful for the environment overall so I don't do this often.
Thanks for posting this. I want to do this with my judo bag
Let me know how that turns out.
Thank you. I actually bought the same color. Had a white gi that got kind of dirty looking overtime.
I'm glad I saw this video. I was looking for a gray Karate dogi and couldn't find one. I will try this method.
I hope it helps, works for me quite well with all sorts of colors.
your blue belt is dope, wish it was still in production...
Awesome video and awesome gear.
I noticed the stitched logo didn't get dyed - will the dye only stick to things already undied? Is all stitching safe?
+Aimen .S stitching and logo are synthetic so yes safe from the dye
Is that a GI hung on the wall? What type of green is it? Nice video by the way
+Phal Kylan moss green :)

hehe thank you and yes almost all embroidery and stitch threads are synthetic so they won't take to dye.
Does it have to be warm water when dyeing?
I think it does, double check the instructions you might find on the website in the vid though.
Did you happen to use Urea or Calsolene oil?
Sorry it took me awhile to get back to this and I can't rec all but it was whatever Dharma Trade Co recommended.
I didn't. Some steps don't seem to be critical. -Chris
That intro... Crushed. Well done.

I was just kinda wondering if there was any residual backlash to your washer after all that dye and salt?
+nightmantis1 nope, but i do a few plain washes without material after just to be sure. also i'm guessing this isn't wonderful for the environment overall so I don't do this often.
oddly no, but sometimes I run a light bleach mixture through after to clear it but generally it isn't needed.
How did it not dye the thread in the gi?
Or the patch?
The thread and the patch are made with synthetic nylon or poly fibers, so they don’t take to dye, kinda neat in this situation.
@@chrisodell42 Gotcha. Didn't know that. Thanks.
+1 for the Dr. Bob Dobbs.
+nightmantis1 hahah thanks, makes me feel old because so few know Bob these days.
Where's the link?
+Seth Valdez I think it is this one www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/
+J. Vicente Carrasco -Bixen- yes, thank you, and these specifically www.dharmatrading.com/dyes/dharma-fiber-reactive-procion-dyes.html?lnav=dyes.html
