For this evening’s masterclass class we have chosen three senior students on the College’s postgraduate Artist Diploma course, all of whom have distinguished themselves throughout their time here.
They will be working on Beethoven's visionary last three Sonatas, op 109, op 110 and op 111, some of the most demanding music in the piano repertory.

"I just hear notes. I want to see the stars". MY highlight quote, from this amazing masterclass
Liked it too, very beautiful part
András Schiff has given some of the most wonderful masterclasses I have seen. The RCM deserve great credit for making these available.
The Schiff masterclasses are a must for every classical music lover and musician. His insights and attention to every detail is unique and his humour and soft yet direct way of communications and comments are so respectful towards these very good young musicians. A pure joy for music lovers😊
A beautiful summary of what we have seen.
I watch them all the time and learn a ton. And I'm a guitarist!
Beethoven is a genius composer because he can create different themes and styles of all the piano sonatas he wrote in his time still being memorialised till now❤
North Carolina piano teacher reporting in. I need this so much! It will feed my soul.
I always appreciate Sir Schiff's teaching style. He always uses some interesting metaphors and analogies in his teaching to make pieces vivid, lively, and easy to understand essences. He speaks like a nice elder, rather wise but not arrogant for his greatness, and brings real warmness and brilliant inspirations to his students. A complete master in piano performance & piano teaching, and one would always appreciate to be taught by him, how brilliant!
Whenever I feel sad about certain UA-cam channels or material, I come here & feel “ah!” all is right with the world….. a truly superb musician, gentleman & scholar. ❤️❤️ thank you for this.
Schiff‘s comments are always direct to the point and very practical.
extremely informative video. Just when you think the students are playing brilliantly, Andras somehow finds a way to make them sound even better!
I am a Classical guitarist from Saint Louis. I love listening in and learning from the interpretations, phrasing, voicing and dynamics that are taught. Thank you for your amazing contributions!! 👏👏
Giving masterclass for the works of Beethoven is not an easy task yet Schiff shows the immense amount of his knowledge on this composer ❤️ long live Sir Andras Schiff.
I used to listen to Schiff's masterclasses on Beethoven's sonatas published by The Guardian many years ago. It is now so wonderful to see actual footage of him teaching so many great students. Thank you for publishing this!
I'm loving all these masterclasses given by Sir Andras. Delightful music with fascinating, in-depth and sometimes humorous commentary. Magnificent combination to enjoy my time on UA-cam. Thanks RCM!
I love the way he expresses himself, almost shouting at the master student:“PIAAAAANOOO”!
