My first family car as a child was an Olds Delta 88. Red! the interior is exactly as I remember it sans the color. One of my fondest childhood memories is going to the drive in with the family in our 88, back in the early 80's. Great nostalgia video.
My grandpa had exactly The same car but with a 5.7 dieselengine in Belgium: loved that car and very rare in Belgium. Beautifull The Brown metallic with beige velours interior and an beige leatherlook roof
Had one decades ago. I don't remember the dash being that empty, but it probably was. I didn't have the remote mirrors(I don't think) or rear defrost. Kinda odd since mine was a "Royale" Put a shift kit in it and it would lay pretty loud patch on the 1-2 shift @ 45 MPH. 😁 Maybe it's the camera work, but the body roll seems more than I remember on mine, however, I also had a tendency to install stiff shocks and poly sway bar links on my cars back then. And I specifically remember putting 60 series tires on front of that car, when I had it, and it took 55 PSI for those tires to support that heavy front end, lol.
I was surprised to hear an electronic beeping sound when you started up this 1978 Oldsmobile Delta 88. I thought all Oldsmobiles still used a scary buzzer until at least 1982. Was the electronic beeping sound original or did it originally come with the scary buzzer?
My uncle's '78 Buick Park Avenue beeped for the seat belts; as well as my Mom's '77 Olds 98 Regency. It was also very easy to upgrade lower models from buzzer o beep right on the fusebox panel .
I had one when I was like 16teen and it was parked at a pool hall and a lady was drunk and crashed into it and totaled it I could never find another one after that it was sad!!
The guy I got it from said when he got it years ago it came leaking oil. For some reason he decided to go off on the motor and make it bullet proof and to where it could be driven reliably.
I currently have a 1974 Cutlass Supreme that I purchased 5 years ago from a classic car dealership. The car was in storage for many years. The odo read 53333 original miles. I have ALL of the maintenance reports on this car. Who ever purchased this car new knew what he wanted in a car and this one is LOADED with options. I purchased a 1978 Delta 88 Royale Coupe three years ago also from a classic car dealership and it too was in storage for many years. The odo in this Delta read 11033 original miles. This car is also LOADED with options. The Delta has a 350-4bbl like the Cutlass. The Cutlass 350 is 200hp duel exhaust. The Delta 350 is 170hp single exhaust. The engine in the Delta has 3-A heads and sound nothing like the Cutlass 350, which has #7 heads. I WILL BE removing the engine in the Delta shortly and replace it with a REAL Oldsmobile 350 like in the Cutlass. And I will add a fuel injection system to both engines. Another thing I will add to both cars is rear wheel disk brakes for better stopping. I got rid of my 99 Camry solara with 250+ thousand miles because I got tired of replacing the engine management system(3) computer. Shit, I bought that car new in 1999 @ $32.600. Nooo more! So there you have it. Thank You!!
Flawless classy beauty and a nice reminder of our 1970's. Congratulation!🎉
Indeed!

They sold thousands of them in Finland, all diesels. My 79 has a 455 Olds in it now. Looking at a 1980 diesel for a daily driver.

OH NO!! These are such great all around cars.
They were great cars, especially in the early years. Seems like the original owner took great care of it, wonder what happened to the engine...

Yes, I “thought” I was going fast enough. I’m having it checked on Monday!!
Is the new motor a 408?
It is a 403. Thanks!
Why did the original engine blow up at 46k??
It was mainly from it needing to be resealed. Guy went overboard in my opinion.
