LOL 😅 Todd... Yes, this recipe is one of my favorites. If you want to add nuts, alternatives to pine nuts are sunflower seeds or walnuts. I like it just simple & plain 😋 Enjoy!
Amazing recipe! I made it and it's very tasty especially on Pasta and since I'm not allergic to any nuts i recommend adding 1 spoon of pine nuts it will taste even better 🍃🎆
Ha, of course pine nuts are authentic & delicious in pesto, especially if they are fresh (not easy to find fresh). Enjoy & thanks for sharing the idea! Be sure to subscribe 😋
Hi Cheryl, Thanks for watching my video. You're going to love this recipe! You may add either lemon or vinegar, beware, the more you add, the more it changes the taste of the pesto. The other option is a vegetable wash bought at the store. I just like the low cost, handy versions to clean my produce 😀 Enjoy and be sure to Subscribe ❤️
I’m so glad someone made a nut free recipe! I’ve been looking for a nut free pesto to try with my veggie pasta and this looks perfect! I am allergic to dairy as well would it taste good still without the cheese? Or with maybe just half a cup of cheese? I can have a little bit of dairy but too much gives me a bad stomach ache. Thank you!
Hi Melissa, I’m glad you are excited about this recipe, it is delicious 😋 Of course you may reduce the cheese. Play with the recipe until you find the best fit for you. The other option is to just lightly sauté’ garlic, salt & chopped basil in a fry pan then toss your pasta in it and serve. Enjoy and be sure to subscribe ❤️

Hi Mihai, what a great question. It’s easy, just package the extra basil in small, airtight containers and store in the freezer. Enjoy 😋 Be sure to subscribe ❤️
Hi Steph, Great question! This is why I only use a small amount of acid solution, to prevent the smell/taste ruining the flavor of the basil (recipe). I've found a diluted solution for a short period of time works well to clean but not spoil the taste. Try it and let me know your thoughts 👍 Be sure to subscribe 😋
Hi Vinay, That's a great question. During the video shoot, my director did not catch the mistake and it was not discovered until editing. The decision was made that the video material/recipe was good enough, that we figured people would forgive my slight error in the word "sea" after Himalayan, by mistake. While confusing, it was an innocent error. I apologize. Use any salt that best fits your needs 😀
Hi Mariel, Great question. I've never heard of using anything but Olive Oil for Pesto, but doesn't hurt to try. This is such a brilliant recipe. I've been looking for a pesto recipe which doesn't contain nuts as I am allergic to nuts. I wanted to ask do we have to put cheese in the pesto or can it be optional and if we do need to put cheese can we use cheddar cheese instead or parmesan cheese.
Mg Goh, I am so pleased you like this recipe. It took a while to perfect it, so, I’m not sure about exchanging the cheese. Honestly, I think cheddar cheese will not work, cheddar works best in a cream sauce. Also, the Parmesan (hard) cheese, hold the basil & garlic mixture together. Therefore, omitting it altogether will not make a pesto, just an olive oil, basil & garlic pasta toss. Feel free to experiment and let me know how it goes 👌
Mardell Hill hi, you can use nutritional yeast, it has some cheesy taste to it and it’s good for you, I’m using it in really strict diet, so I think that you will be fine with it .
Does it matter how thinly grated the parmesan is? My roommate and I purchased a 24 oz bottle of kraft grated parmesan at the store about a week ago and haven't opened it yet. The parmesan in the bottle is almost powder like, so I was wondering if it would still work.
Hi Anya, A fine powder of cheese will make the pesto more dense. The quality of the cheese will also enhance or deduct from the pesto flavor. Try making it with the ingredients you have on hand this time. Then, next time try it with a hand grated block of Parmesan and decide what’s best for you 😋 Be sure to subscribe 💃 and thanks for watching my video!
Yes, you can substitute seeds such as sunflower or pumpkin (papitas) instead of nuts. However, seeds & nuts are in the same family &, while a person may be sensitive to one, another may work find for them. Also, seeds & nuts may become rancid, causing digestive issues... Freezing or toasting reduces the possibility of bad bacteria or mold. Enjoy!
Of course... the blend I used is a combination of Parmesan Cheese and two other hard cheeses. It's just a difference in flavor... no matter what, it will be delicious for you :) Enjoy!

So sorry that happened... That's a first.... So many reasons a food may affect you that way, allergies, poor quality ingredients, contamination, etc... Be sure to watch this video to insure your ingredients are clean bit.ly/2DMnaCL For some people, garlic can be a trigger... Oils can be rancid, etc... Feeling brave? Check all ingredients and try again? Be sure to subscribe for other recipes that may be a better fit for your tummy :)
Mardell...let me guess...you're not Italian...That grated parmesean cheese was store bought already grated? Don't use that. There's a chemical they add so the cheese doesn't clump. Buy a wedge and grate it yourself. Add more oil on top of the basil leaves so your machine has enough lubrication to do its work from the beginning.
Thank you for watching my video again! For ease of use in a video, I chose to have the cheese grated in front of me at the local health food store. But, self grating is always an option for everyone. Great contribution. Be sure to subscribe for more great videos :)
What is Himalayan Sea salt? is that even possible? Himalaya is the name of a Mountain range in Asia where i live and there is no Sea in the Himalaya? As far as I am aware of.

It's easy to make ~ and Enjoy!

sspramita, any blending tool that creams the ingredients together is fine ❤️ Thanks for watching & Be sure to subscribe 😃
I tried this and it was good but it gave me the galloping trots!
How can I make this dairy free? What do I substitute Parmesan with?
Great Question! Try vegan cheese substitute, here is a recipe: www.loveandlemons.com/vegan-cheese/ Enjoy 😋
Hi Thinley Palden Dorji, thank you for watching my video all the way through. You, in fact, caught an error while in production that my director didn’t catch so we couldn’t retake the scene. Rather than throw out the whole video, we just posted it knowing the recipe itself is amazing, no matter what salt you prefer to use 👍
Thanks for reaching out. Enjoy this pesto with whatever salt is your favorite 🙏
Be sure to subscribe for more great recipes 😁 And, have a wonderful day!
Could you use lemon/lime juice instead of vinegar
absolutely, lemon or lime can always be substituted.
Mardell Hill thanks so much for your quick response.... I really appreciate it 👍👍

See previous response... :) Let me know if you have any further question...
Pesto with no pine nuts is NOT pesto. It's a basil paste.
Ok, that's important.

What you did is not PESTO .. But your sauce ... I remind you that the word pesto is registered and refers only to pesto alla genovese

Zz
It's pronounced 'baz-il' not 'bay-zil'. There is no letter Y in it.
Harold-Sweat-Head thanks for watching my video & paying attention to the details 👍😊
Harold-Sweat-Head no z in it either
It's pronounced ba-sil. I'm Australian and we pronounced it like the English do - ie the correct way.
