I'm happy someone else finally brought it up. The whole "this is being panned for being too disturbing" is the stupidest crap I hear about horror movies. People wonder why modern horror movies are all cheap jumpscares and boring re-hashed crap, but the reason is because people are too afraid of any horror movie that breaks the mold, despite the fact that's exactly what horror movies are supposed to do. HORRIFY you. Back in the day, Texas Chainsaw Massacre was considered absolutely terrifying. Why? Because not many movies depicted such horrific violence in that way. Despite it's low budget, the movie was a hit because it horrified people. Same thing for Psycho. Psycho was one of the first movies to depict a murder on the big screen, and people were appalled. Now that bloody murders and gore have become circumstance as people were desensitized to it, it takes a lot more to horrify people, but anyone who DOES horrify people are critically panned for doing so. It makes no sense to me. When I originally read reviews on Clown deciding whether to watch it, I couldn't believe that one of the negative reviews said "Just because you can make a realistic prop of a child's arm doesn't mean you should". Actually, in my opinion, yes it does. The monster in Clown was TERRIFYING because it was a child eating demon. And instead of it being a child eating demon by word of mouth of characters spouting exposition, it was shown to you. Quite graphically. While none of the deaths are "on-screen", they did do the gore pretty creatively (something that surprised me compared to Eli Roth's other films). Closing out my small novel here, I like films that push the boundaries. That have an interesting and scary premise with a good delivery to create something that makes me afraid. That's what horror is to me, I should be horrified. And I hate to see movies get destroyed for that. Some try too hard (look at Human Centipede 2 and A Serbian Film) to the point of being completely bonkers and worth nothing more than shock value, but movies like this push the boundaries enough to truly make something scary.
DrBrainzzz FINALLY some one who agrees. For me Friday The 13th would be one of the greatest horror movies, even though it is, without the fucking censorship that was caused by that association, i forgot what it was called. Take away the boundaries and all horror movies would be entertaining again
I think this is why IT got popular, it’s one of the only modern movies that has tons of gore and shows a whole death instead of just showing what causes the death, then cutting to the next scene.
If you enjoyed Clown you should check out Terrifier. There's no plot or character development whatsoever, but it takes the creep factor and sadism of a killer clown to a whole new level.
The whole "five months of winter" thing comes from their Clöyne creature originating from the arctic circle. You get five months of winter with very little sun, five months of summer when the sun barely sets, and very brief transitional periods.

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 🤡 Clown *Concept:* - "Clown" (2014) is based on a fake trailer from 2010 and produced with Eli Roth's involvement. - The story revolves around a father who, dressed as a clown, becomes unable to remove the costume, leading to dark consequences. 🎈 Birthday *Party Mishap:* - Kent, the father, dons a clown suit for his son's birthday party after a mix-up with the hired clown. - The costume, however, cannot be removed, and Kent's appearance progressively becomes more sinister. 🌐 Supernatural *Origins:* - The clown suit's origin is linked to an Icelandic legend about a demonic creature. - Carlson, a character, reveals that decapitation is the only way to remove the cursed suit. 🧑👦 Family *Struggles:* - Kent faces challenges in balancing his family life and the dark consequences of the clown suit. - The film explores the impact on Kent's relationships and the danger posed to his family. 🚨 Search *for Solutions:* - Meg, Kent's wife, seeks help from Carlson to understand the origins of the cursed clown suit. - Kent attempts various methods, including self-decapitation, to rid himself of the demonic costume. 🤯 Twists *and Panic:* - Kent inadvertently causes chaos and panic as he struggles with the uncontrollable transformation. - The film introduces unexpected twists, including Kent's son getting involved in the dangerous situation. 🔪 Climactic *Showdown:* - The final confrontation involves Meg, Jack (Kent's son), and the demonic clown persona. - The story culminates in a climactic scene where the fate of the characters and the cursed clown suit is revealed. 🌟 Movie *Evaluation:* - Despite an interesting premise, the film faces criticism for its portrayal of child-killing elements. - While the presentation is commendable, certain aspects limit the film from reaching its full potential. 🤔 Viewer *Critique:* - The reviewer discusses issues with the film's portrayal of death, questioning the count of casualties. - Expresses concern about the reliance on cheap jump scares, deeming them lazy for building fear. 🎬 Movie *Evaluation:* - Acknowledges the film's ability to build dread effectively but criticizes its unnecessary use of jump scares. - States that "Clown" does a decent job with a simple idea but falls short of its potential. 👨👦 Character *Development:* - Highlights the movie's unbalanced structure, with Kent's transformation resolved too quickly, hindering character exploration. - Notes the lack of insight into Kent's personality outside of the cursed clown suit. ⚖️ Unfulfilled *Potential:* - Points out that the movie feels unfulfilled, despite the sensed potential. - Rates the film as "far from great," giving it a score of around three out of five children. 🌬️ Winter *Reference:* - References the confusion regarding the mention of five months of winter, asserting it's actually three. - Jokes about the possibility of getting a child count right out of the mentioned winter months. 🎥 Closing *Remarks:* - Ends the review by thanking viewers for watching and humorously mentioning Chuck E. Cheese as a place for all meals. - Concludes the review with a score of three or so children, emphasizing the film's moderate rating. Made with HARPA AI

How strange.
In fairness, and this is coming from someone who grew up in Alaska, I can attest that when you are that close to the Arctic Circle, winter tends to be abnormally long. I've never been to Iceland, so I can't say if winter there is five months long, but I don't have much trouble believing it.
Considering your show takes one week to make and, the average 22 minute run time it would work as a television show
freaky as hell of a movielove the gore and the scary biology of the cursed clown costume

Bruh, I totally forgot this was a thing. I remember that trailer now, and hearing Eli Roth's name and all that, but I never knew they made a legit movie. Nice.
This is like if someone was given the book/movie "IT" in a different language, then told to create an origin for the movie monster.
Him: winter only last 3 months

The melody of the beginning scenes of the movie is a sped up off-key version of “mad world“ by Tears for Fears
This movie is hilarious, I was predicting stuff that would happen as a joke and it really would happen every single time. Seriously funny movie, im not sure if it's a parody of horror movies or supposed to be serious but it feels like a 50/50 mix of both.

A slight correction, Iceland actually has a slightly longer winter, I believe it starts in October for them. So while in the general sense you were right about it being only 3 months in most locations, Iceland does in fact have 5 months of winter.
