I live about one mile from US Capitol... Washington Monument, where the fireworks display is given, is blocks that US Capitol and I hear the booms, but used to be able to see darn near the full Washington Monument on top of my roof, before a house across the alley had a 4th fl added. But in my surrenond blocks, people shot those rockets and I lie to you not, it was like seeing the fireworks down at the mall (Washington Monument) like you see at end of this video. It was unbelievable and it was all around my house. This year I noticed more of the sound makers, cherry bombs and some rocks that ended with very loud BOOMS and sound like rapid gun shots. Not so much rocket fireworks displays for some reason. There were some.

Likely either fireworks or drugs, especially if it was a pre-war building. Those things tend to go up easier. They need more maintenance which sometimes the landlords fall behind with.

In small towns outside of cities they sometimes start selling fireworks weeks before the 4th , so yes that could be the reason how some of these people would have these in some cities. Its easy to just leave and go to a small town that sells them. Well here in Texas it is

I don't understand the whiners and complainers - most of whom probably don't even live in NYC. I have lived in NYC for over 50 years and even though I haven't lit a firework in decades, it is a tradition, especially in Queens. Not much different than the constant parades, street fairs, protests and things like the NYC marathon that choke neighborhood traffic for full days or many consecutive days. It doesn't matter who is mayor either.
Living in NYC will always involve some compromises so get over it folks, sorry you lose 90 minutes of your beauty sleep one night a year - maybe the quiet of Montana is more to your liking.

You obviously have no idea what really goes on in NYC, or maybe you don't care because it "doesn't apply to you". It goes on from June to September even during the work/school week, & sometimes as early as after 5pm & stops as late as 4am. First responders cannot even sleep, hospitals become crowded from burn cases, the fire department becomes overwhelmed with calls, & that's all NOT what we need right now for obvious reasons. A 3 year-old boy got badly hurt when a firework was lit outside his apartment like these guys in the video did. The poor kid got very badly burnt. A man in Jersey City died from explosive fireworks, & there it's illegal too. These are just some of the cases reported. I used to work in the cafe at a hospital. Most of my customers were from the ER department, which is always overwhelmed with burn cases during this time. And if it happens across the country, especially in states with high COVID-19 cases, then that's a problem.
I respectfully disagree and question whether you actually know what goes on in NYC.
Yes, a few people get injured by fireworks every year since fireworks were first invented. Perhaps you should stay inside if your fear is so great. Welcome to the big apple.

Try until 4am! This has been going on for much much longer than our mayor has been in office & it needs to stop. It will continue until the end of the summer in some parts. Unless & until they gain control of the problem, it will keep hurting others.
I live in Inwood, close to GWB. The illegal fireworks in my area has started since the beginning of June! It was even crazier last night and I couldn't sleep until probably 3 or 4 clock!

Kristen Tomaino That was the time that “Disco Saturday Night” on KSUR’s “K-Surf” is over and the illegal fireworks are dying out afterwards. The show started at 10PM after the “Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks” and illegal fireworks was still going on.

Yes, it's a bad tradition they have, especially when this went on up until late at night. One thing is when they do these fireworks at a park and people enjoy and another when you have no consideration for people...Don't be afraid of speaking up and share with other people so next time people can organize and stop these vandals from disturbing the peace.
Nice video! This brings back the good old days of illegal fireworks. This is the first time since the 1990’s where illegal fireworks has set them off completely. I missed them. Last night, when I live in Kingston, they set them off in minimal spots.
Last night, after seeing the Macy’s 4th of July fireworks after 5 nights of 5-minute shows in various locations including the finale from the Empire State Building, KSUR’s “K-Surf” in Los Angeles, CA which is on the West Coast was kicking in “Disco Saturday Night” as an added surprise while they were setting off illegal fireworks in places like Brooklyn, and continued into the night till the illegal fireworks died out at 4AM. I saw it on one of the live streams like Baltic Live Stream including Brooklyn by the Verrazano Bridge.

Um, no. If all it takes is 1 person to spread it to hundreds at a time then it's NOT over. It's the geniuses that refuse to believe that it's not over or that it exists that are out, but they'll find out when they get sick & we go back to being on pause when it gets colder.

Well that isn't going to happen. Maybe we should wait for the magical vaccine? Hopefully you realize that there has NEVER been an effective vaccine for any type of corona virus. The most common corona virus is the common cold and countless hours have been spent since the dawn of microbiology to find a vaccine. A vaccine for that would be worth billions in parents but still nobody can come up with one.
At this point the virus is still spreading but hospitalization and death rates are way down and staying down. There is a very small percentage of people who might have severe issues upon being infected but those groups are well with identified at this point. Hopefully you don't belong to one of those groups but if you do, you should take extra care, maybe you can't go out as often as you like but we can't keep having 12-20% unemployment (and the deaths and suffering attributed to that) to protect a well identified much smaller group of people.

Hello. This fireworks situation is really bad!! I live on Staten Island and the same thing is going on here .For the last three days, it has been awful. And the bombs they set off. A person can go deaf. And it goes on for hours!!!

You have the faces of the perpetrators on film! You can help stop this by giving the police the video & telling them the time & location. DiBlasio wants to do sting operations. They work better with more information in the lead. If not, & you don't want to be a leader or a hero, then I don't think you should show this on your page. Besides, since you recorded a crime in progress then I think you could get in trouble for showing the criminal's face on camera without their permission. That's not it. The issue is the dangers of setting off fireworks like this. It's illegal in many parts of Canada and America to set off fireworks, if you have no authority to do so. The professionals are designated for that. If it hits a building, or dry vegitation, it may not end well.
I've seen fireworks set off in Edmonton, Canada, at different times, by people that were doing it illegally. I've even seen the police apprehend people for doing it. They weren't setting them off on Canada Day, which is our national birthday, on July 1. It's the safety aspect of it.
