So. Skywarp became a G.I.Joe member and Thundercracker a screenwriter whilst Starscream temporarily became a politician. Interesting development points for those 3.
Lol
"He was scrapped by Omega Supreme"
Well I'll be.
"He was quickly killed once more by a cosmically powered Starscream."
*God dammit.*
LMAO!
😂 Same man
I demand that for April Fools Next Year we give Cosmically Powered Starscream and his kill list their own basics.
@@gota7738 I second this!
@@nirast2561 Thirded!
G1: Loyal Decepticon
Armada: Loyal Decepticon
Cybertron: *YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW*
IDW(G1): Tommy Wiseua
Animated: Egomaniac
Aligned Continuity: Nerd
Cyberverse: Loser
I wonder if one of the clones in Transformers Prime was Thundercracker
As much as I prefer the "doubtful Decepticon" version, Cybertron Thundercracker was great. He was funny, upbeat, kinda dumb but still had a lot of good lines, and poked fun at classic anime tropes like naming his attacks and spending forever charging his power. His banter with Jetfire was especially funny whenever they tussled.
Most impressively, he never grated on my nerves when I binge-watched his 52-episode show. With his character traits, he could've easily ended up as a useless, annoying loser like Armada Cyclonus, but much like Skybite, the writers and dubbers turned him into a loveable loser whose presence was a net positive. I was always happy to see Cybertron Thundercracker on screen.
Though I like morally-conflicted Thundercracker more and hope he becomes the template for future takes on the character, I'd love to see Cybertron Thundercracker brought back as a different seeker character; new name and colors, same personality.
(I should point out that I didn't grow up with Cybertron or Transformers. I only watched the series after Prime got me into Transformers after college. So I didn't have any childhood nostalgia for Cybertron, Thundercracker, or the franchise clouding my judgement.)
@@boxofrocks7154 I did not her I did not oh hi starscream
IDW Thundercracker is such a adorable sweetie pie that must be protected.
He’s such a lovable character
Made me want to read the comic now!
Lemme fix that for you: Buster is such an adorable puppy that must be protected
I concur
Especially his relationship with Buster the dog in CW.
IDW is the best
They made a character which was just "there" into an iconic and amazing character
Him, Megatron & the Scavengers were my favorite parts of the 05 IDWverse. :)
@@jakeproven256 Those stories are fun if you're looking for corny Silver Age flavoured fare.

If I'm not wrong, IDW did this with a lot of characters
But...cowboy thunder cracker

Not even Goku beats That attack call out XD
Shit like that is exactly why I love Cybertron as a show

It creates a placebo affect that makes me do more damage than I really do
@@angell.rodriguezperez7427 Still not as bad as the megaton punch or dynamite kick 😂
IDW seems to be the only Transformers media that gives every character at least some characterization and I love it
Except if they’re from Beast Wars.
Huh, the part of Thundercracker questioning his position as a Decepticon has been so minimally used that hearing that part in the video was quite the surprise for me. Its a shame that it hasn't been used much, but its nice that the IDW series tackled that part. And his story there sounds pretty good there.
Great informative video overall. Now I'm just hoping that Reflector is also part of the popular demand group for this series to tackle, those guys really fascinate me for some reason.
It was so satisfying to read through his whole journey with that. I was SO GLAD they used that oldest bit of his personality profile to its fullest, and absolutely tickled he became a full-blown Earthling thanks to it.
I love Thundercracker and Marissa's relationship in IDW. There are some particularly great interactions in their Revolution one shot...
Marissa (calling TC): Thundercracker! The White House is under siege, my team is down, and god help me, you're the only one I can trust!
TC (while smirking in panel): Who IS this?
(Thundercracker impales a giant dire wraith on the Washington Monument) TC: Hey Faireborn, looks like that thing-
Marissa: Got the point, yeah.
TC: That's good! I was going to say it's got organs when in solid form but I like yours.
Is that from the comics?
I can only remember Buster
I love that Marissa talks about how she wants to see the world before cybertronians destroyed it.
She remarks that "It's just what THEY do"
It's absolutely tragic how she's totally right, that she truly viewed TC as a friend, someone totally separate from his race. Much to TC's questioning "Them?"
I get that a lot of the 'nice' Decepticons kind of enjoy hanging out with humans because we always find fights for them.
Thundercraker: Who IS this?
Marissa: THUNDERCRAKER!! *phone abuse ensues*
ua-cam.com/video/Qp7XR9a7Exk/v-deo.html
As primarily an Autobot guy, it honestly was very hard for me to pick my favorite Decepticon. A lot of them just didn’t get much to me or were ones I liked only ironically.
But it was during my Siege Seeker collecting I bought Thundercracker, the second Siege Seeker I got after Starscream. Looking at his original G1 bio I was surprised and found a Decepticon I can somewhat relate to: Thundecracker is certain about the things he’s very good at, but has tons of uncertainties about a lot of other things and folds easy to peer pressure.
When I read up on his IDW character and where he ultimately ended up as aspiring and being a writer and being a dog lover, I made my decision. Thundercracker is my favorite Decepticon, and whenever people would ask me why, I’d be more than happy to explain and talk about him.
Blitzwing is another one who kind of had a conscience. He respected the hell out of optimus too
@@deathserpent9747 The comic exclusive character Earthquake also had respect for Optimus Prime. It got to the point that the other members of Squadron X were going to execute him because he just seemed like an OP fanboy. Unfortunately the Autobot Impactor arrested all of Squadron X and executed them.
Personally I prefer Decepticons over Autobots, I am fascinated by how they came to be, especially in the IDW comics. I also appreciate that they admit to doing horrible things. Where as the Autobots who have also committed war crimes, most think that they are the protectors of freedom. I agree with the original motives of the Decepticons, before they turned violent, and finally, the last reason I prefer the Decepticons is that there personalities fascinate me.
They also look cooler more often than not.
Yes, both Thundercracker and Blitzwing are my two favourite Decepticons due to their appearances, cool alt modes and abilities, and being more moral, or at least more reasonable than their comrades in some versions.
My personal favorite is Sixshot: An honorable Decepticon mercenary with six modes at his disposal. Thundercracker is a great character, and I’m not saying Sixshot is better. I do still love the six-changer, and his role in Transformers: The Headmasters(especially in the final episodes)cemented him as my favorite Decepticon.
*has fingers crossed for a full video based on IDW Megatron*
He deserves no less. I refer to him as Old Man Megatron.
They should make a movie of his origins from IDW run.
Yes!
@@alexlemonds2838 Old Bot Megs.
You mean the basics on megatron
I love that Thundercracker went into writing and got a dog.
While most of my knowledge of the IDW continuity comes from TFWiki, I honestly love the idea of a Decepticon or Autobot just leaving the war behind and doing something mundane.
GAME: Watch every The Basics video and take a shot every time somebody is killed by a cosmically powered Starscream.
Don't do it man, that many shot might make him appear in our dimension to destroy The toys instead.
Somebody actually did a compliation video for it here. Type in Cosmically Powered Starscream and have a ball.
And technically anyone who plays the game will end up being killed by a cosmically powered Starscream.
It shouldn't be too much unless you intentionally skip every episode that talks about something that came after Cosmicly Powered Starscream, i.e. Beast Wars characters or television series, and take some pretty strong shots. You'll probably pass out before you go overboard anyway.
Are you trying to give us alcohol poisoning?

Also, it's a damn shame they haven't done anything much with the movieverse TC - his Studio Series toy was one of the best Decepticons for playability that I've ever seen!
The Nitro Zeus mold is an excellent mold. I just wish the ankles could tilt side to side.
IDW TC is my favourite Transformer character of all time.

I like that they used the Nitro Zeus mold, it's like a little nod to his cybertron version with the one gun arm and then the whole thing went sideways with the head looking like an alien gundam Harute, not that I mind tho
Thundercracker is also the avatar of famous UA-cam sensation Paperplane

The funny part is the word “famous”
Gotta be honest, I really liked IDW's Thundercracker. with his original personality helping with his progression as a character.
Thundercracker has always stuck out to me for some reason. I kind of imagine him being like the middle brother of the seekers trio, just kinda going along with the decepticons in order to watch for for starscream and skywarp but eventually just getting fed up with them to the point where he just doesnt care, making his alleigance to the decepticons even weaker than what it was.
Also Ive had this idea for a while but what about an episode of the basics on Energon and its variations ( super, synth-en, dark, red, etc.)
He looks like the older brother
Thundercracker was the first Decepticon to doubt their cause? You learn something new everyday.
Same

I think I like that Thundercracker more
Well, he had at least two molds that weren’t Strascream recolors.
By the way, he got a dog. Favorite character status achieved.

And nominated in Oscar.

Cybertron Thundercracker's rivalry with Jetfire was somewhat unique, as it was usually Starscream who had that storyline in other series...
I never read the IDW comics, but that story they gave Thundercracker sounds very fascinating. Not just the part of him leaving the Decepticons, but also for how he bonded with that woman and dog, and even became a screenwriter. I'd love to see something like that in a future Transformers show.
This standalone issue "Thundercracker and Buster Save the World" is a pretty good encapsulation of Thundercracker and Marissa Fairborn in IDW, I love it.

@Starscream91 Yeah. Personally I would want more screen time for the obscure Seekers.
IDW Thundercracker is my favorite version of Thundercracker in all of Transformers.
Thundercracker was the first-ever Transformer I got as a little kid so I will always have a soft spot for him. I absolutely love what IDW did with the character; I really hope we get to see him again soon in other media like games, movies, etc. Thanks for the video !
He deserves that award! He has completed service to the human race, wrote two movies and has taken his time to study our culture! Give the boi his award damit!!
Is it strange that hearing Thundercracker die at Cosmic Starscream's hands, make me wanna take a shot of alcohol everytime he says it
what about in Transformers: Devastation where his questionable loyalty was characterized in a cutscene after his mini-boss fight? He reveals crucial details to the Autobots regarding the Decepticons current scheme after a quick thrashing

IDW Thundercracker is precious he must be protected.
Also, why’d they never do anything with the studio series Thundercracker toy?
One of my favorite appearances for Thundercracker outside of IDW's adorable take was in Transformers: Devastation.
There, he had kind of a bit role as a Decepticon you shake down for info, with appearances in challenge missions as a variant of Starscream that could move far faster. However, the one cutscene he gets to talk in does actually play on his original characterization as someone who didn't fully buy into the Decepticons plans. Instead of needing to be interrogated, he willingly gives up info on how to find Megatron and the Plasma Energy core that he'd taken because he knew messing with unstable Plasma Energy was nothing but a hazard to everyone on the planet.
Thundercracker once just used to be a name to me. After reading the IDW comics, he became my favorite Transformer.
Personally, I like the IDW Thundercracker. Especially that he has a pet dog. lol That is adorable. Shows that he is more than a machine of destruction. I love when they fresh out the characters.
Me: Basics on thundercracker

Thundercracker is like the middle brother that never gets enough affection from his family
CHRIS: "The Sonic-Booming Decepticon,"
MY BRAIN: [instantly plays back every episode of Sonic the Comic the Podcast]
Imagine a Romeo and Juliet like storyline which pairs Thundercracker with Mirage, who likewise is unsure of the Autobot cause.
And Mirage is the rich girl
Now when I see Thundercracker in a movie, I'll turn to the person next to me and say "That's an award nominated screenwriter" as Optimus Prime tackles him to the ground.
Oh, don't forget that, technically, Thundercracker and Skywarp were the first two transformers seen in any cartoon, seeing as how the original G1 Opening had the two seekers as the first transformers shown.
I fear you're slightly misremembering how the opening goes!
@@ChrisMcFeely real shit you right lol
Bee and Wheeljack were the first to be seen.
Well if you want to be technical and go further back, in the very first TF commercial ever that was promoting the comic, Thundercracker was the first Transformer seen.
@@charlesdavis4887 in the show propper. However, the full Season 1 Team of Autobots were the first transformers ever seen in the show, with the intro, with Thundercracker and Skywarp as the first two decepticons ever seen in transformers history.
Thundercracker is my favorite seeker, but his IDW interpretation is the best. No other version will compete with this one.
Ok it's honestly hilarious that in Cybertron, Thundercracker was dragged back into the decepticons out of sheer spite.
I think that's the first time that's ever happened in a traitor arc.
Thanks, Chris! The big blue lug is what got me started in Transformers, him and Trailbreaker, another self doubter. Although G1 is my favorite because nostalgia, IDW is a very close second. It evolved the character into a love-able loser type, that ended up winning.
Thundercracker having a dog named buster/wanting to write screenplays made me instantly happy because that's exactly what I wanted to do as a kid and I had an imaginary dog named buster

My favorite version of Thundercracker was the IDW version. Matter of fact, I consider IDW as one of the best if not the best comic book series, as they give character more development.
Awww I love the IDW take on TC. He's just such a total... adorable dork... adorkable trope definitely evoked. He becomes a cinnamon roll that's too precious to ever harm. IDW might have basically... written the definitive take at this point. I'm pretty sure it'll go down in history.
I loved how IDW portrayed Thundercracker, it gave him the personality he really needed to stand out. Now if future toys would include a Buster figure and a data pad for his screen plays.
Wow IDW made Thundercracker a great fleshed out character, I’m glad he found happiness on Earth and changed his ways.
9:37 You will never see TC so happy ever again.
I'm watching this video with my dog...I feel like that's appropriate somehow.
Thunsdercracker was my First Transformers toy back in the 80's. I still think of him as one of my favorites and as one of the most under used characters. Wish I still had that toy..
Omg IDW Thundercracker is adorable. If anyone hurts baby ima hurt them.
Well looks like skyward has it cut out for him
I personally liked Thundercracker (IDW version), he's one of my absolute favorite characters
Thundercracker was the first transformers I purchased as a kid. I saw him at Walmart and just had to buy him and decided on him because of his color scheme. I could have gotten Starscream or Skywarp but I went with Thundercracker.
All three of them having personality now is great
The treacherous dreamer
The questioning writer
And the teleporting thug
Good old TC is kind of a badass in the Transformers Earth Wars mobile game. Easily one of the longest range bots, with a very useful ability. He locks down a defensive building for a long time, and simultaneously puts a pretty nasty damage tick on it. He’s great for taking out powered up cannons in the back that snipe your guys.
I just watched the Basics on Skywarp less then 4 hours ago; I am so glad you covered Thundercracker!
Thanks for this. Thundercracker was my very first Transformer. I love jets, and blue is my favorite color, so when I was allowed to get a Transformers toy by my parents I knew just which one I wanted first.
IDW Thundercracker was one of my favorite character. Him and his dog.
Ah Thundercracker, the only MP seeker I'm yet to obtain 😭
He's actually the only MP I own! My first, I really fell for him because of his appearances in the IDW comics. At Comic Con I had to choose between him and Skywarp. I think Skywarp should get more attention in comics and cartoons too
Wait, so... Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker aren't brothers???
I lived a lie my whole life 😐
I'd like to say he won that award in IDW, he deserves something like that
4:23. I totally forgot he said that!
Finally, thundercracker and buster, also screenplays
We need a masterpeace IDW thundercracker with buster as an acessery
I always saw G1 Thundercracket as the opposite of G1 Mirage, as the two of them were similar in that they were loyal to their respective sides, but not quite 100% sure why they were fighting for the teams they were on. I think that there was even a scene in the Dreamwave comics with them fighting each other to kind of reflect that.
I sort of wish the Transformers: Mosaics made a strip of Thundercracker and Mirage's doubts. Like how in one strip, Prowl logically outsmarted and ambushed Shockwave.
Great video ^_^
There was also a moment in the game Transformers Devastation where after you defeat Thundercracker he tells you where the plasma core is. He does so because as he puts it "my loyalty only goes so far" and that he didn't like the idea of Megatron messing with plasma energy. So he told the Autobots where it was so they can get rid of it.
His appearance in IDW has solidified him as one of my absolute all time favorite characters ever
IDW Thundercracker becoming a screenwriter is the most amazing thing ever.
Cybertron Thundercracker was my first TF toy ever, so I’ve always had a special attachment to him. Seeing all the development and spotlight he got in the IDW comics was amazing.
Buster and Thundercracker forever!
I love how these 3 F15s have unique abilities. Thunder Cracker has sonic booms, Sky Warp can short teleport & Star Scream can interstellar travel... And freeze ray.
When do I get to be killed by a cosmically powered Starscream
Wow
It was so wholesome of IDW giving him such a life
Amazing vid as always Chris !
My fav is idw thundercracker he has so much character development
I'd love to see more dissension in the ranks on both sides in future iterations of Transformers. IDW Thundercracker was a sapphire gem among a sea of blues. Thank you once again for being my favourite transformers channel!
I shouldn't keep asking for this but lemme know if you got any plans to cover Marvel comics, especially Galvatron's time travel rampage, eh?
in the IDW comics Prowl went rouge and went into a full brawl with Optimus, eck Prowl even impaled him with some debry. As for the Decepticons, the main thing I can think of is the Earthforce story arch in the U.K. comics, however I am guessing you know that since you mentioned Galvatron messing up the timeline.
3:19
I’ve never seen a transformer that’s a more perfect representation of the 90’s!
Take a drink every time Cosmically Powered Starscream gets mentioned
I’m surprised you didn’t include his role from the transformers devastation video game.
Spoiler(game came out in 2015)
In the game after you beat him in a fight, he tells you where Megatron is and how he wants the autobots to stop Megatron because he doesn’t want Megatron to turn the earth all metal and gain the power of the Ferrotaxis
At this point, we need a “The Basics…” on the Underbase saga, or at least a list of all the Transformers “offlined by a Cosmically-powered Starscream”
my fav is idw thundercracker i hope that in war for cybertron cartoon gives him the idw treatment that he needs
Let’s be honest:
If there’s gonna be a character who doesn’t do much in the original
IDW is gonna make em great again
Fingers crossed for the day the Basics on Barricade comes.
Oh yeah
Now the famous three jet had a complete video
Now we have all 3 original Seekers.
The sacred trine!
IDW literally turned Thundercracker into my third favorite Transformers character! He's right after Optimus Primal and Optimus Prime
When I read about IDW TC, I just fell in love with this bot trying more human.
I think the problem with having a cast of characters be based on a toy line is when you have so many of them, it's hard to get a definitive idea of each one's character and with Thundercracker being a repaint of Starscream, it took a toll on his original depiction
Armada's "Thundercracker" feels like the character coming full circle, as like the original character profile Starscream in that series had doubts about the Decepticon cause and whether which side he was on. It's a terrific callback for terrific storytelling.
Let’s be honest here, we all loved him cuz he was blue and blue was our favorite color, however after watching this we grew to love him even more for learning more about his personality
-0:58 His personality of considering those who aren't aerodynamic to be beneath him and is unsure of the Decepticons righteous cause, but joined them out of seeking purpose in his life, it's pretty good. 1:13 But that being Starscreams characteristic first... to me it makes sense. Althought Megatron could fly in robot mode, but doesn't have a aerial vehicle mode (in some incarnations on both subjects), would further give Starscream an excuse to hate him. Seeing Megatron as a false aerodynamic cybertronian. His desperate need in purpose and not fully convinced in the Decepticon ways, would further drive his desire to overthrowing Megatron and change the Decepticon cause to his beliefs. That's just me opinion.
-1:25 Wish we could have seen him use his special Sonic Boom powers to terrorize the enemies. But his *SUPER ELECTRIC LIGHTNING THUNDERCRACKING PUNCH!!!* would do. 4:49 Also thanks for mentioning that time he went full Thor Ragnarok on Jetfire in the Transformers: Cybertron cartoon.
-5:55 I do wish, and the same goes for Skywarp, that he was brought into the live action universe. His character design in the comics looks way better then Starscream's (wish that was Starscream's character design instead). And I do like that aspect of him being groomed to be Starscream's second in command 6:10.
-6:18 I also like Transformers Animated take on him being a Starscream clone.
-7:10 I really wish we saw more of him in the two Transformers Cybertron videogames. Him being a scientist is cool.
My first Transformers toy is in fact the DOTM Deluxe Thundercracker. I always loved his colouration over the other Seekers, glad IDW finally got to do him justice.
im a big starscream fanboy but i like hearing about thundercracker. i didn't know any of that, i aways thought he was a starscream goon (bebop/rocksteady.type.)
