I love the idea of Skywarp as a goon who has the amazing ability to teleport, but instead of using it to say stab Optimus Prime in the back uses it to prank his fellow Decepticons

He was my favorite Decepticon back when G1 was released. Such a shame that every writer was so afraid of his teleportation powers breaking the narrative that they just chose not to include him in any stories.
In transformers Earthspark, they utilize (now her) teleportation powers HEAVILY!!! Even using a switching jutsu at one point. Starting to like Earthspark, they have the human/cybertronian spotlight downpacked.
SKYWARP was the first Decepticon to be resurrected on Earth, and it may be owing to the fact that he was basically the first creation color-wise by Hasbro.

I loved how tf cybertron gave thundercracker a unique design from starscream for a change and actual fun character moments. Wish they'd have done the same for skywarp
Skywarp did play a role in the Aligned novel, Retribution. He pretty much bombed a place where the Bots and 'Cons were resting at on behalf of Starscream and barely made it out alive. The Qunetissons found him and basically reprogrammed him to testify againist the Autobots and Decpeticons present at Aquatron's trial as part of an over-the-top plan (more-so than even BW Megatron's ideas for evil plans) to get vengeance on the Cybertronians. Once he served his purpose, he got gobbled up by Gnarl or some other Sharkticon. I don't think he'll be appearing in an Aligned cartoon anytime soon.
Yeah but it kind of sucks that nobody even mentioned him in any of the aligned cartoons considering the fact the seekers played a major role during the war I'd atleast expect a throwaway line
I kind of like his re-imagined version of him being created from Starscream's cowardly personality, that would make sense of his teleportation ability as means of escape. Also, one way that Bombshell and Skywarp can be Cyclones is if both of them were heavily damaged and only means to save them both is they were rebuild into one robot making into one and only Cyclones. Now spread that idea to Hasbro.

Freddyvidz, I agree it always LOOKED like it was Bombshell, but I think it was ACTUALLY Skywarp, since after they transform Skywarp Cyclonus is in front of Scourge and the Sweeps, which is where Cyclonus is in the next scene and the Bombshell Cyclonus is under the others, and if you look closely, in the next scene Cyclonus flies slightly closer to the camera then Scourge and the Sweeps, implying that he was/is above the others, which is why I believe Skywarp became Cyclonus. Please let me know what you think of my analysis of Cyclonus. :D
Is this Skywarps dead body became Cyclonus than yes if it's Cyclonus is Skywarp then no since they both have completely different personalities, I believe that Cyclonus was a new decepticon entirely
TFfangeek my weird theory is it being bombshell because his bio for his combiner wars toy says he *mind controls* victims into combining. Bombshell had the power of mind control so that's what I believe
The Transformers Dark of the Moon arcade shooter game has a level where Optimus battles Skywarp and the player needs to hit his weak points. He is basically the movie Starscream with a purple coloring.
Skywarp was my first TF. Broke his freaking machine gun piece tearing it off the plastic tree thingy. Loved his color scheme, loved his voice in the G1 cartoon. “Heat seeking missles, seek heat!” Yeah he was a background character, but Skywarp fans knew that he could be a key player if he really wanted to be.
Skywarp is one of my favorite Deceptions from G1. I do have other favorites but G1 had a larger list of characters for the Autobots and Decepticons back in the 80s. And the issue with who became Cyclonus doesn't really bother me much I like Bombshell as well. Teleporting would be great to have in real life you wouldn't need public transport anymore.
I just agree, as far as skywarp not standing out. He always came off as a very loyal, powerful and strong character as he was the first to revive Megatron as well as stay true to his cause and never betray him. Pretty much this is what an ideal Starscream was supposed to be, but unfortunately because Starscream probably screwed up so much, time & again, Megatron greatly overlooked this great warrior.
Great video, but you forgot one huge Skywarp appearance -- he was a key member of the Wreckers in the 3H Universe comics from the early 2000s, set in the G1 sunbow/beast machines continuity. He was separated from Cyclonus in the huge reformatting ordeal from Beast Machines, and reappears in a vehicon body (redeco of BM Jetstorm) but resisted the brainwashing and escaped. He ends up joining the Wreckers with Cyclonus and Rotorstorm (fellow decepticons), but actually ends up being kind of a hero. When Cyclonus is revealed to be a traitor in league with Cryotek and the quintessons, Skywarp sacrifices himself in battle against Cyclonus to protect the other wreckers. It's one of my favorite appearances of Skywarp, and certainly one of the more fleshed-out cameos in the franchise.
I actually had an 80s skywarp toy and I thought he was so cool but when I found out he had little to no screen time I was disappointed but it still doesn't change my mind on how cool I think he is
This was really informative and thorough!! Never knew Skywarp didn't have that much prominence in anywhere but IDW....makes me like them that much more!!
Skywarp, weirdly, was and is my favourite. I'd have been a lot more devastated by his demise in the movie than Prime's were it not for the hope of his reconstitution to Cyclonus/Armada.
Skywarp was always my favourite seeker. I always saw him as the clown - every team should have one, human and otherwise - but I admired his loyalty to the decepticon cause. If he didn't have any further outstanding roles, the animation Arrival From Cybertron surely demonstrates that by pulling Megatron under the Ark's reconstruction process, he set every further Earth-based decepticon in motion. If he hadn't, perhaps Megatron would not have survived. Something to consider.
Thundercracker was the first TF I ever owned, but Skywarp was my favorite of that era. There was just something about that black-and-purple that was appealing.
I love skywarp so much,my favourite version is idw2 the idea of him being a fae trickster who kinda lost his mind after being stick in an alternate dimension because of his warping ability is so interesting, his personality felt so distinct and gave edgy, but also chaotic but also goofy vibes while still being a geniune threat the autobots had to look out for. I think my favorite Skywarp would have to be Animated, but I do have a soft spot for the "generic thug, rank-and-file Decepticon" version he's been in G1 media. It makes him a nice contrast to the ambitious, treacherous Starscream, and the down-to-earth, conflicted Thundercraker.
I want to Arcee sooner rather than later, but I also feel that I need do Female Transformers as a whole before I do her, because she is so important, she sort of... consumes the whole story of them. There'd be a lot of repetition.
Here's something interesting. When Hasbro released masterpiece skywarp, his weakness was deliberately changed from stupidity to laziness. Maybe Hasbro did that because his intelligence stat was so high
Skywarp in 1984 was a primitive then teleporting backstabber turned trickster for a kid's toy line. At best, Marvel did give him some character in the start. His redefinitions remains impressive over the decades.
My favorite utilization of Skywarp was his depiction and relationship with Thundercracker in IDW's All Hail Megatron comic. The same comic also included my favorite Skywarp moment when he attempted, and I suppose on some level, succeeded in blowing away Thundercracker.
I think the reason Skywarp has remained endearing to fans is BECAUSE he's been such a blank slate for so long. He has a cool color scheme, a gimmick, and carries relatively high status. He's sorta like Boba Fett in the sense that his ambiguity allows people to project whatever they want to on him. Characters like Starscream, Bumblebee, etc have distinct and relatively consistent personalities, so they don't inspire as much imagination in the minds of fans, but Skywarp is free to act based on your headcanon, because there's not a whole lot there to contradict it. "less is more" as they say.
Okay, so I was never really big into Transformers (and started watching this series as an attempt to fix that) and I'm kind of noticing a trend here. Like a subtle implication of someone hitting me on the head and yelling "go read IDW comics, they're good!" :P
I like how they explained transformers having superpowers in the IDW comics. Basically Outliers are the Transformers version of an X-Men Mutant. I guess Skywarp was among one of the first
Watching these basics clips made me realise that yeh ...the decepticon characters were very limited and boosted by combiners. Basically it was megatron soundwave and star scream plotting on the earths resources. and the autobots probably close to 20 regular and nameable characters
I got an idea to change up his character and add some layers. He should be a miniature reflection of Starscream's relationship with Megatron. At the start Skywarp should be intial leader of the Seeker trio. Playing up to his devotion to Megatron be played up and having Starscream's arc be of an unknown seeker rising up through the ranks taking out other decepticons till he only has Megatron left to go. Skywarp would be the first arm in Starscream ladder with him taking over the squad and falling further into the background and maybe having some kind of crisis. Trying to betray Starscream later or maybe turning to Unicorn and becoming Cyclonis.
He's a side character yet he's my absolute favorite transformer out of any series, when I first made my oc I loosely based her design off him. I'm still obsessed with him to this day 💜🖤💜🖤
after watching this, the aerialbot basics, and other mentioning's of silverbolt, i also want to know the basics on silverbolt if haven't been done already. please make a vid of it and thank you for these vids about the transformers.
I always just imagined that they were starscream's goons. They're always there where starscream is right by his side almost like the seekers are their own faction
Good summary! One note, you missed his convoluted appearance in the Botcon Wrecker comics. He was always my favorite of the seekers as a I loved his Black/Purple aesthetic. For future topics, I'd like to see a look at Crosshairs
I've mentioned it in the past but it bears repeating that these aren't all-inclusive comprehensive videos designed to summarize absolutely everything a character's been in, these are "The Basics" - and barring it being a major appearance for a character who has no other media, or an interesting example of a recurring theme (Ultra Magnus as Optimus Prime's brother, Shockwave's "Longarm" disguise), BotCon fiction (and other, similar pieces of niche fiction) is rarely going to qualify as notable enough to be "the basics" for anyone in this context. Not that it's being ignored, of course - "Shattered Glass" has been done, I've got another Fun Pub ep coming up in the future (sshhh...), and I'm sure I'll hit the 3H Universe/Wreckers stuff!
Starscream’s a drama queen who wants everyone to like him, Thundercracker is a narcissistic loner, and Skywarp.... he’s... here too

Heyo! Could I ask if you could do a Basics on the Titans? They are very interesting and I wish to know more about them..
Skywarp: Master of Pushing People Down the Stairs.
Man I hope he gets the spotlight someday. Besides Starscream and Thundercracker he made me laugh.
Okay, so I was never really big into Transformers (and started watching this series as an attempt to fix that) and I'm kind of noticing a trend here. Like a subtle implication of someone hitting me on the head and yelling "go read IDW comics, they're good!" :P
I couldn't possibly comment. ;)
So how was it
@@Maine03 I mean... yeah it's pretty good. I'm still reading through it because there's a ton of material, obviously.
I like your explaining better Than other channels
Grand video as always sir.
I like how they explained transformers having superpowers in the IDW comics. Basically Outliers are the Transformers version of an X-Men Mutant. I guess Skywarp was among one of the first
Nice info learn something new. Could you do one on Kup i would like to know about those petro rabbits. Thanks
"I'll give you petro-rabbits!" ;)
Watching these basics clips made me realise that yeh ...the decepticon characters were very limited and boosted by combiners. Basically it was megatron soundwave and star scream plotting on the earths resources. and the autobots probably close to 20 regular and nameable characters
Skywarp is a classic case of a character being side-lined for being too powerful.
Great video as always! Wish it was longer!
It's the colour scheme. Black for badguy, purple for Decepticon. It's perfect. He's always been my favourite Seaker because he looks badass.
Skywarp was one of my first G1 toys, appealed to me because of his contrast to Starscream's aesthetic.
As far as I am concerned, G1 Cyclonus was Skywarp updated by Unicron. Bombshell, as far as I am concerned, is just another Sweep led by Scourge.
you should totally make a updated video of this one, beucse Sky warp has had some pretty signifcant appernces in resent media.
Watch it, you metallic mini meatball, or I’ll step on ya
3:00 -- Skywarp shoots at helpless dinosaurs, and he still gets his ass kicked! What a wimp! LOL!
Can you do Basics on Thundercracker? I feel that he’s more fleshed out in the comics compared to Skywarp.
I'd like to see the basics on Scorponok, Bludgeon or Overlord
I'd like Scorponok, too
I always envisioned it as Skywarp and Bombshell were melded together and BOTH became Cyclonus.
...Skywarp's a member of G.I. Joe? Time to *push Cobra Commander down a flight of stairs!*
I'm still obsessed with him to this day 💜🖤💜🖤
Also, could you make a Basics on Floro Dery? That guy really needs some love in the realm of artistry. :)
after watching this, the aerialbot basics, and other mentioning's of silverbolt, i also want to know the basics on silverbolt if haven't been done already. please make a vid of it and thank you for these vids about the transformers.
The other notable thing about some of Skywarp’s current depictions in shows is that he and Nova Storm are the goto seekers to gender swap.
Love your channel! Keep it going. It’s awesome.
