Ann Hamilton at Park Avenue Armory

Artist Ann Hamilton combines multistory elements in her new work "the event of a thread" commissioned by Park Avenue Armory. And she invites audience to participate in her work by going on the swings that also animate the movement of her white curtain in the middle of the giant Wade Thompson Drill Hall.

It is our good fortune that this landmark installation was documented in several ways. Art21 has a good UA-cam video, for example. // The project is perhaps Ann Hamilton's largest and most captivating to date. Long ago in San Francisco I came across Ann at the Capp Street Project when she presented " Privation and Excesses" She used 700,000 polished pennies, among other things.
