MY METHOD for making SPAGHETTI with BROCCOLI GARLIC AND OIL
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 січ 2020
- This is my method for making spaghetti with broccoli garlic and oil so that the broccoli isn't cooking to hell. Its basically spaghetti aglio e olio but with the addition of broccoli. Aglio e olio is a great template for adding vegetables to it. Broccoli is one of the best. This is one of my favorite pasta's right now. Tune in to find out how I make it.

I love that I only need to see the first 40 seconds to understand exactly what to do
Lol ya know 😂
That's what Idk why it's so long
Right lol. I usually end up watching the whole thing. I like the way he explains thing 🤣
definitely
I’ve watched it 5 times in preparation for my first attempt… which hasn’t happened yet 😂
Moved out of my parent's crib about 3 months ago. Been cooking for myself since. This is the best dish I've made so far. Thanks for the quick & simple recipe.
Proud of you dude, this channel will have you cooking delicious food always.
Year later I'm in the same situation as you. Great recipe
I love the Irish comedian Dylan Moran talking about being a bachelor and managing to get more than one colour into food a must watch ...
"I have been sickly obsessed with pasta"
I can totally relate with that. Its an addiction.
Wilson Chew I know me too
Same here
I start with diced onions, wilt them before I add garlic, get them golden, then broccoli and chili. Onions add a whole 'nother dimension to this dish. One of my favorite aglio olio variations too!
FINALLY someone who doesn't boil the broccoli!!!! bravo e buonissimo!
Actually boiling isn't that bad...trick is not to over do it is all. Works either way
Never had this, I can see it good both way. In fact, I should try cooking them both ways. I do suspect I will like the non-boiled better.
I know I am pretty off topic but does anybody know of a good site to watch new tv shows online ?
@Curtis Jude Flixportal :P
@Wallace Torin Thanks, I went there and it seems like a nice service :D Appreciate it!
Stephen: 2020 I’m adding another element to my plating game: a plate
All of UA-cam: Weird flex, but ok
Omg I just noticed!!!
It’s about time lol
I think I watched this for the first time three days ago, and since have made it twice. I like to add a little lemon juice as well, but MAN this is so good. I love the broccoli cooked this way - absolutely hate when it is mushy. Thank you for another amazing staple dish!
YAY! I discovered this channel very recently and surprised that a guy from New York I think cooks like an Italian ... my mum would say Venice and I would say who knows? Great for a vegetarian like me definitely. i didn't caramalize the broccoli steamed it but otherwise followed the recipe and best fast food!!!!
You killing me. I been waiting for this all day!
the wait is over...😎
Yo Bro - I guess it’d be too sorta redundant?!? but Cavatelli n Broccoli!!!! I guess close to same - same
Watching your cooking videos over the past years has really changed my eating life. Like this recipe, its always cheap, simple ingredients, but with a bit of cooking flair and amazingly tasty. Great to see you getting the recognition you've deserved for a long time. Much love bro x
Stephen, I want to thank you so much. For the first time I've made sauce out of my starchy pasta water, I tried it before but it never worked. I made this dish and I truly felt like a magician when the pasta water and the oil formed a sauce and coating for the pasta and the broccoli, so amazing!!!
I discovered this channel a few days ago, it has already become one of my favorites. Excellent content! 🥦
Just discovered it today and I'm hooked!
I started watching a little over a month ago? Hands down one of my favorite channels.
Steve has some really good takes on many Italian classics.
channels like this are rare and I don't have a lot of dosh to spare but when I find one like this I do donate!
@@GetCooking I agree. I think he's from New York judging from accent but his food is not Italo-americano which is great but more what I've eaten for years in Italy.
Your approach to pasta is refreshing in it's simplicity and attention to technique. Stoked to see you back!
A PLATE!!!
I'm worried, too.
My day is ruined, and my disappointment is immeasurable 😭😝
I live by myself and try to eat as well as I can but every now and then I get super jaded with having to cook elaborate, time-consuming recipes on my days off and just want to slap something together cheaply and quickly. I tried this tonight and it was shockingly good and way more than the sum of it's parts. I think I've found a new weeknight favourite. Now my apartment smells of browned garlic but I don't mind because it's amazing. Thank you so much Steve
My Calabrese mum does the exact same thing except she purees some of the cooked broccoli and garlic along with 1/2 a cooked potato and stirs this 'sauce' through the finished pasta. Elevates it to an amazing place.
1. I like the plate. I really like it.
2. I like the fact that you’re flexible on classic preparations and recipes. Oil, cheese, cream, butter... They can all pull a dish together, regardless of traditions.
OMG!! Thank-youi!! My grandmother (italian) used to make this, forgot until now. She'd save a serving of broccoli for herself and have it with freshly baked bread still warm and cut thick. Ah, food memories are the best. Making this tomorrow!
Where in Italy was she born? i only found this in Venice and would love to hear her story.
LOVE THE PLATE
Just started watching your videos. I think its great how much love you put into your dishes, and it has been getting me to be a little more adventurous with items i dont usually use in recipes. Amazing spins on the standard recipes. Thanks.
Made this on my work-from-home lunch hour today. Took me all of 15 minutes and it was amazing! I added some grilled chicken for protein.
I am supposedly vegan but have been known to throw in some canned skipjack tuna ... still technically Italian and low mercury etc.
Growing up in an Italian home, we ate this a lot. We could not pronounce the proper name so we called it hallelujah sauce! You nailed the recipe. Great way to get kids to eat broccoli 😊
"Aglio olio e parmigiano" is pretty common in Italy, and tastes amazing, so I agree with you that it goes well in this dish. I will try this recipe right now, thank you for the inspiration!
I did my own spin and it was great!
As a student this is one of my go to recipes! I LOVE IT!
I just recently found your channel and I really like it. The recipes are simple and tasty and remind me of the meals I had growing up at my nonna's house. She was born in Naples and immigrated here in the 1920's. I grew up in NJ, so I knew a ton of Italian American's just like you. Keep up the good work.
Any combo of broccoli and pasta is a staple around here! Even just steamed broccoli, nothing fancy. Plus it’s SUUUPER CHEAP, and delicious!
I’m also obsessed with pasta because of you. I say thank you for a great and inspirational video. Go pasta go🥂
Yes!!!!
Absolutely love broccoli and pasta, I do a similar version.
Broccoli, garlic, guanchale, King prawns, seasoning, vegetable stock and cream.
That's all she wrote simple and a mouth explosion 💥
Thank you for all your amazing pasta recipes. Been following for years! Simple and delicious
Yum! I like a few drops of toasted sesame oil in with the broccoli, which gives is a more 'roasted' taste.
I made this last night for dinner. Absolutely fabulous !!!! I'm saving this to my favorite reciepes folder. Thanks.
woah, made this tonight! so simple, yet beyond delicious! thank you!
I learned to make this by watching one of my Italian friends. He learned to make it from his mother many years earlier. I made it 30 years ago and almost forgot about it until I watched your video. Making it again tonight! Thank you for reviving memories.
Hi, obviously this is 2 yrs old from the comments. I love the recipe although I fooled around with it a bit; also have a friend who has a mother etc. so cheers!!!!
Finally someone who just shows how to cook some delicious food without talking trash. Thank you.
Thanks for still making videos I always enjoy them
13:34! Love his apology to us for using a plate! Too funny 😂
Made this and fell in love with the incredible taste! You have me loving Broccoli now something I always avoided, Thank you!
Another quick & delicious recipe for weeknight dinner (and lunch the next day...) in the arsenal. Thank you for your content. Much love from Wisconsin
This is my second time making this recipe and I love it and I will definitely continue to make this recipe in the future! Thank you for sharing
Tried....loved it! adding it to my favorite quick weekly meals
Learned this recipe from you and very thankful for it! It is a beautiful dish in its simplicity. Great textures and delicous flavours all over. Would definitely recommend making it.
Oh, yum.....Can't wait to make this. Love your videos.
I cook my pasta in a high edged stainless steel skillet! I figured out how to put enough water to cook any pasta al dente & not have to drain out water! I use the starchy water to make any easy sauce - some butter in the water or sprinkle some low sodium chicken bouillon in the pan! I throw frozen peas in when the pasta is just about done. I like my veggies not mushy!
My favourite cooking channel by far! Thanx for posting this!
And you're using a plate! Awesome xD
Mmmm mmm that plate would make me happy. I love garlic & broccoli. I like my veggies way more crunchy than my hubby does. Looked super easy and quick meal. Thanks
I love that you started the video with B Roll of the entire cooking process and then go into the “lesson” Really effective editing idea
Love this simple dish. I love using broccoli and putting it with pasta. My favourite quick dish to cook is a creamy pesto pasta with broccoli.
Your recipes are amazing and something anyone can make! I am addicted to your channel! Thank you Thank you!
Best cooking channel in youtube at the moment. Keep it up!
Finally man.. been waiting for your pasta recipe. Keep up the great work bro Im gonna tried this recipe in a sec, btw new sub from Indonesia 😁😁😁
Yum! I bought the ingredients today. Making this on Saturday. 😊

Love this one...this was the first thing I learned how to do myself!!!!
Amazing ! Easy & perfect 👌🏼
Thank uuuuuu
This is as simple cooking will ever get... especially during the pandemic. Thank you for this quick & easy recipe.
Beautiful video. Love this recipe. I like your twists to it. I always added white wine into mine, but will have to try it this way.
Liked the explanation of how to adjust the flavor and texture.
That looks really good you’re doing a wonderful job like yourself
Just made it...so good! Thank youuuuu!
What a great cook! Great show!
En verdad, sabe riquísimo no le falta nada !
Gracias !
Such a good way of getting veg in. Sick recipes dude keep it up! And totally agree with the adding cheese bit. I've been adding a chilli cheese to mine gives it some awesome punchy flavour.
This was awesome. Reminds me of my Dad's cooking. Love your cooking show. Ann Bradley
excellent, love this plate, love this channel, keep it up dude
Made this tonight - it was absolutely incredible!
Just made this. Superb!! Especially with Pecorino. Thanks!
Great videos....I make this dish - learnt from my Italian friend when he lived with me - always used anchovy fillets at start for a base seasoning - works perfect with broccoli
I was thinking that I might find this dish lacking a bit of flavor. I would probably need to add cooked shrimps to it and butter to create a thicker sauce.
Gonna try this tonight! Looks freaking amazing!
Thank you for this delicious and easy recipe! Made it for dinner 😊
Literally 4/5 ingredients LOVE that😍 & vegeterian toooo😜
I'm eating it right now. Delicious! I didn't have any pepper flakes on hand, so I used ground red chili pepper. Adds a nice kick. I got great caramelization on the broccoli, but kept it crunchy. I've never had this dish before, and I gotta say I started to chicken out about halfway through. The broccoli smell wasn't very appetizing, and I worried that I was adding too much oil. Turns out it was just about right. At the end I deglazed the pan, making a bit more sauce. Next time, I won't be afraid to just go for it. Super fast and easy, and good enough for company!
I Just made this recipe exactly following these instructions. Before today I would saute the garlic and crushed red pepper in the olive oil and then toss in broccoli. This time I did like shown above and I have to say this is the best recipe that i have tried for pasta w broccoli/ garlic /olive oil..thanks for taking your time to help us cook!
5th Element you mean, adding garlic and red pepper flakes after broccoli was better?
@@wangjangler7196 hi...well idk now since i wrote that I made it again a few times and last time i sauteed the garlic red pepper salt together then added some pasta water cooked for a few minutes then added broccoli and more pasta water. Im a garlic freak so i also added garlic powder to broccoli as well..
Hope i didnt confuse you but this is like my favorite thing to eat along with a salad w/ o & v..
🍜
I appreciate your skill set and approach to cooking Thanks A Lot for your recipes
my next door store started having broccolini for some reason and I've been trying to find dishes to use it in! SO far only just used it with wok noodles + other veggies stuff. This is a great one I'll deffo try.
I made this tonight and it will definitely be a staple dinner in our home. Thanks!
Was just looking for ideas for lunch and made this! All I needed to buy was a broccoli and it tasted awesome!
Love pasta and broccoli garlic. Thanks for sharing.
My three favorite things; spaghetti, broccoli and your videos
Love pasta and broccoli garlic. I'll cook this today. Thanks for sharing.
I love the way you cook!
That was the best broccoli pasta I have ever had! We loved this. Parmezan cheese makes it even more yummy 😋
Great video as always Stephen.
I was snacking a lot today so I decided to finally just cook and make a good size meal for me, I saw I had Broccoli in the fridge so looked up a recipe and came across your recipe…the food was really good and had such good flavor. Definitely trying this recipe again soon lol
I haven’t been here that long but I saw everything on a cutting board n I love how u got like a weird feeling by the mere thought of a plate that was great😂😂
Love this recipe Going to cook this thanks 😊
Craving for pasta! I never cooked pasta without any instant sause before. Your videos inspired me to cook and perfect it.
Now I'm also obsessed with pasta. It's contagious!
Love this recipe. Thank you
I just had to make this. It is truly one of the best. Thanks for showing us how. Who knew such simple ingredients could make such a delicious pasta.
It really is the best. I eat it so often it’s ridiculous
Awesome! Thank You
This was amazing. I added mushrooms to it in addition to fresh ginger ...thank you!!
Looks filling and healthy!
This looks amazing, I make it by putting the oil, garlic, anchovy in a frying pan and browning the garlic, then adding the broccoli and a small amount of salted water and covering it so the broccoli is braised in the liquid, then reducing to taste when I mix in the spaghetti. I'm trying it your way tonight, by adding the broccoli first.
You convinced me to make this tonight! Thank you!
I’ve put on a stone since I started watching you’re videos last year !
I love broccoli and I love pasta and the other day, there I was wondering what would be the best way to incoorporate both in a dish and keep it simple.
And now this video is uploaded. Great timing, gonna try it out :D
