Toyota doesn't have a lot of loyalty. They shut Furniture Row and LFR down. They only gave Suarez two years in cup and then they him go, they let go of Erik after four years in cup. Now they are letting go of Kyle who been driving for Toyota for 15 years.
Toyota did not shut furniture row down the owner did because could not find a replacement for 5-hour energy and so didn't have enough sponsorship and wasn't going back to self funding or race without a jgr alliance. I'm pretty sure Toyota also had nothing to do with LFR shutting down

Unfortunately Jones was almost on the other end of the cut throat part of Nascar these days. A 15-18th range talent with no money backing him. Back in the highs of Nascar, his level of talent would have a long career in Nascar, but unfortunately the decline in sponsor dollars have really screwed over talents like him.
15th-18th range talent is selling him short. I did see Richard run his last race in Atlanta. When he won for Petty I had tears
Eric is a standup young man. He has talent, and a lot of it. I think he is a great asset to Petty. Gibbs really dropped the ball on how he handled the Eric Jones situation. I love this young man and root for him weekly.
Love seeing his success, and running up front in the #43. ✌🏾💨💨💨🏳️🏁
Glad Petty picked him up and it worked out the better for the 43 team. Another win for Jones and the 43 team at Darlington. JGR and Toyota kept shooting themselves in the feet with young drivers going to rival manufacturers.
Richard nothing but the public face for Petty GMS just like was with Richard Petty Motorsports he gets paid for his likeness and name
Richard disagrees. He has said he is involved with meetings in race operations
"I won Darlington" but "We were struggling". Kind of sums up this man.
Ironic how Denny Hamlin's team might have been a link in the chain that cost Erik Jones his job at JGR, only for Denny himself to provide him with the opportunity to join with Petty.
Denny starting a team had nothing to do with Erik's release...
Awesome video keep up the good work Job
I saw a big example of not to give up, especially when you are a race driver, when your boss tells you that at the end of the season you are out. Sergio Perez, formula one, probed everyone that they were wrong, by racing his life, wining podiums and races. Now he’s one of the best drivers in the world, in one of the best formula one teams…dude probe them wrong by giving your heart in the race track, and win races, cause if they don’t want you…someone better ahead will be grab you, and make you better…
Sergio Perez should have been in better cars long before now, he's a real driver.
I really like Eric Jones I feel like he is such an underrated driver with untapped potential
We need kyle busch back. on the show to talk 2023
Agreed
Thanks Erik, you're my driver. Thanks to Jr & Crew too.
I'm pretty sure Toyota also had nothing to do with LFR shutting down
@@johnhaas2523 One of the reasons FR shut down and they said it. Toyota was rising the cost to run there equipment. Same with LFR.
@@jaggerdebusk14 jgr alliance was going up but owner of furniture row racing wasn't complaining about that and he could have chosen to have no alliance or switched manufacturers and found a cheaper alliance if wanted
He has made Petty better so keep working hard and the wins will come.
I think the new car and Murray Gallagher ownership of the 43 has helped. Richard is basically paid for his likeness and name and owns 4%
I’ve been a redskins and JGR fan since he started with Nascar.. Next year will be the first year rooting for another team.. All my favorite drivers got the boot from him (or left).. Smoke, Kenseth, and now Kyle
Still got love to MTJ Next might be is last year
Looking back now its the best thing that could've happened
Erik has been the best Petty driver in years.
I love it Junior when you're calling a race, get excited and your voice goes up 3 octaves!🤣🤣🤣
Joe Gibbs is Nascar’s BIGGEST PHONEY , lied to Carl Edwards , Kenseth etc etc
I feel for him. I remember getting fired from Boeing, a job that I loved and people I cared about, I sat in my car , looked up at the sky thinking "what now" and the tears started flowing because I lived on my own and had a car payment at 19yo
I hope you've recovered from that setback! May the light of God shine down and protect, and guide you to a better tomorrow ✨️ 🙏..from Wyoming USA 🇺🇸 🤠
@@billallen4793 for sure, thank you. That was years ago and been through ups and downs since. Im 45yo now and a disabled Veteran, doing perfect 👌🇺🇸 God bless

I think alot of people discount how much luck plays into success in racing. Whether its on the track or just a situation. He was fortunate enough to get a shot in a car when Kyle was hurt and showed he could hang. Then he was fortunate that Kenseth couldn't find sponsorship and then was fortunate enough to wind up at Petty who was able to revive itself, especially under the NG car. He did all the work and hopefully this story in the 43 has a good ending many years down the road. Sometimes the best doors are opened after what you think is a great one closes. Logano could probably attest to that as well.
It wasn't that Kenseth couldn't find sponsors, the sponsors of the 20 also worked with Erik in Xfinity and pushed Joe and Toyota to put Erik in the car
@@AngryKirbyHatesYou If the sponsor is looking to go to a specific driver, that pretty much means the existing driver doesn't have sponsorship. Matt had struggled with it even when Dollar General left. If Matt was willing to take a drastic pay cut, I think JGR would have kept him but everyone wanted to shift to the younger/cheaper driver
@@zerodos_02 yeah but Matt finding sponsors had nothing to do with it. Stanley B&D had a deal with JGR to sponsor the 20.
Even if Matt had gone out and brought new sponsors interested in joining it wouldn't have saved his career
Keep in mind this guy has won two Southern 500's. This dude is one hell of a race car driver.
If I was a sponsor I would hire this man on a heartbeat this guy is a great driver in NASCAR and just a great man overall where he drives no problems and brings a car back in one piece and yes he is a winner more than I can say for bubba
you two do great interviews. some times your show is more interesting than the races. thank you.
Bottom line is that if you want to follow a driver that will create a place for themselves that will stay at a team long term, JGR ain’t it.
I like Eric Jones. He fought back and is winning. Keep it going Eric, JGR isn’t is as great as they all think. The champions are all gone, the whiners are left, let’s go Denny
JGR lost out as far as i"m concerned. Stand up guy, hell of a wheelman.. Has made PETTY-GMS better. Give him a couple more years at PETTY and you will see a championship contender.
A gift. This cut off is a gift.
Gibbs will have loyal employee with his grandson.

Kid's got good wristwatch sense, too.
Eric really deserves a good quality car & crew
He's a driver that everyone would be happy to see him flourish
Unfortunately Jones was almost on the other end of the cut throat part of Nascar these days. A 15-18th range talent with no money backing him. Back in the highs of Nascar, his level of talent would have a long career in Nascar, but unfortunately the decline in sponsor dollars have really screwed over talents like him.
15th-18th range talent is selling him short. I know those were his point finishes at JGR, but he really just had rotten luck in the Chase, he always ran in the top 10 even tho he was like 20 years old. And his entire garbage team there (pit crew and crew chief) is now either flipping burgers or demoted to lower levels because they were just horrible.
