I actually really loved The Matrix Resurrections as a movie and a franchise revival. But yeah, that's exactly what happened here.
For real, Keanu is 57 years old and everyone here is complaining he didnt do scorpion kicks and backflips like he was when he was 33.
@@fludbludno people are complaining because the movie is an unimaginative lazy piece of shit. Also Keanu put himself through the ringer for all 4 John Wick films, so his age is not the reason this movie sucks, it's just poorly written and uninspired. It took a franchise that has always been about style, martial arts, and incredibly groundbreaking, imaginative special effects, and turned into a movie where the main character uses force push a thousand times, with absolutely zero good fights.
This really took away what the ability actually was... an enlightened ability to shape and shift reality through the code of the matrix. This just made it look like a comic book style forcefield he could push around. In Matrix 1 and Reloaded he stopped bullets through a realization and will, not conjuring a bubble pop power. It was an ability that transcended the Matrix, not an emergent power.
I swear movies nowadays are just plain dumb. Too much tech so few brain.
In the 1st matrix he only had to stop about 12 bullets not machine gun fire..
@@Dankschon Neo used telekinesis in the first trilogy. To fly, manipulate matter/code with his mind. To stop bullets, concussive blast. Telekinesis is Neo's favorite power. Now in the sequel, unlike in the original trilogy, they're just showing his psychokinetic thought energy visually. But it was always there.
Well, after 60 years of being tampered with and manipulated, his power was re-emerging... And you can see in multiple scenes, it still transcends the Matrix.
In all fairness he had been out of the matrix for decades, and with age comes the fact that you aren’t able to do such things anymore.
"Hey, Keanu is super busy, so we don't have time to do any real fight choreography, how about we just have him put his hands up and go woosh every fight instead?"

This version of the matrix is the 7th version the number 7 is a very spiritual number.
In Hinduism and Bhuddishm it is believed that there are 6-9 realms or realities. Each plane with its own set of laws and conditions. Since the matrix films are an allegory for the existence of consciousness within the perception of humans it’s plausible to believe that the real world is a simulation that operates independently within its own boundaries but fundamentally it is part of a cycle of domains.
In hermetics the second universal law is that of correspondence - as above so below.
Just like reincarnation and karma. What you do in this life affects what you become or what you do in the next life. The matrix and the real world represent the lower dimensions of reality i.e. hell, this correlates to the first three lower chakras: root chakra, sacral and solar plexus. Neo and trinity together represent the fourth chakra which is the heart chakra. Coincidence as this is the fourth movie.
Number four also represents time, the fourth dimension. This is why in resurrections we see many cuts and flashbacks to the original trilogy, this represents the past. The 7th version of the matrix takes place in the modern day 21st century (present) and when Neo wakes up in the real world he learns that 60 years have past since he saved Zion (future). If you decode the matrix mathematically you see how intricate, metaphysical, profound and revealing each movie truly is and how transcendental the franchise is as a whole because it subverts expectations and challenges you to question your own existence and perception of reality.
If you consider each movie in sequence then you see how each feature serves its purpose flawlessly.
The first movie represents the number one: meaning perfection, originality, creation.
This is why everyone loved the original film the most. It’s pedigree is undeniable, it will never be replicated or surpassed. There will never ever be a better matrix film then the first film. It is the one and only exception.
The number two represents duality, instability, complication, again most people loathe matrix reloaded because it’s the middle chapter, it has no beginning nor end. The third film represents resolution, cohesion, finality. Metaphorically if the first film is “birth” second one is “life” then the third represents “death”. Just as easy as - 1,2,3. Resurrections represents four, meaning time, fourth dimension, quantum entanglement, multiverse, system & order, versatility, multiprocessing (neo running a module, subroutine within the matrix), repetition, four also represents a sequence.
Like making a beat - and a one and a two and a three and four!”

They literally tell you in the movie that he’s been trapped for 60 years and it’s taking him a while to regain all of his source code abilities. Did you even watch the movie?
Going back to 1999, remember the very first time he stopped bullets at the end of the first movie - how amazing that seemed? The look on the agent's faces, the curiosity of Neo picking up a single bullet out of air, looking at it, scanning the rest with his eyes, and the equivalent of "that's that..." with all the bullets hitting the ground in sync with the music?
It was nearly breath-taking given all the obstacles he overcame and the zenith of his character arc. Then we saw him LITERALLY Shang Tsung an agent, blowing him up from the inside out and then fly into the sky at the closing credits. Masterfully done - a true cinematic masterpiece moment in time.
Now, 22 years later, the One is neutered.

but that was actually a plot point. He's weakened because of the years he spent powerless and docile. He still can't entirely accept the legend he usd to be and cause of that he can't use his powers as effectively.

The ideal sequel would would have shown Neo with Wanda Maximoff /Dr. Strange type powers, a total reality warper who can summon objects, transmute, basically rewrite reality as he sees fit.

In the original matrix, he does the telekinesis thing effortlessly because he recognizes the illusory quality of the matrix. That’s why it’s cool. In this version, it’s like he’s fucking goku or something using chi. I hate it.
That is great, I struggled to explain why it was so shit. I knew part of it was just cuz it came off as lazy and that it was so rushed they didn't take the time to do choreography, but that is definitely it. It went from him having the power to see the matrix for what it was, to just acting like he has a super power.
but at the same time this new matrix is supposedly even more real and dangerous, so it makes sense he struggle more to warp it since it is harder to bypass.
100% agreed. Neo was a matrix breaker because he *knew.* “Don’t think you are. Know you are” He saw the codes. He knew he could bend the matrix to his own will and he could only be the one once he started to believe or know he was. “Being the one is like being in love. Nobody can tell you that you are. You just know.” In this piece of shit movie all of a sudden Neo claims to never have believed that he’s the one. But see that doesn’t even make sense. He couldn’t have done the things he did, if he wasn’t sure of it. “Free your mind”. That was the entire point of the first movie. Now he struggles with stopping bullets and says that he never believed he was the one. OK, he learned that the prophecy was a lie but he still had conviction, he just knew what to do and how to do it and up to a certain point in reloaded he actually *did believe he was the one.*
In regards to dragon ball, he’s not even like goku. He’s like fucking uub when he’s still a kid. Uub used precisely the same kind of shockwave.

Neo’s One-ness was never absolute. There were five Ones before him, each randomly selected by the Architect.
In this seventh Matrix, Trinity and Neo are equals in power, but neither can use their abilities fully unless they’re making contact with each other.
Neo is that kind of guy that lacks imagination and exploring. When he discovers a power he uses it and only it forever, never develops. Last 2 movies he flew and stoped bullets. Now he uses only shields and force pushs.

it was way cooler before. Didnt looked like he was using any kind of force field or telekinesis, but it was as if he was removing entirelly the speed of the bullets. Bending reality to decide that the bullets just woudnt go any further
he could see the code the bullets used and just turned off their physics.
That's because it was done in real time instead of bullet time.

I watch that scene 5 times, one frame at a time because it went by so fast. It's filled with horrible, unexplained things like Neo getting heart surgery!? Ha!
That is the scene when they were in Trinity's bike shop and the Analyst use that pathetic bullet time ability.
Imo, it's the worst scene in the entire movie.
A swarm mode bot used a weapon on Trinity, during bullet time lol, never used again! The lines used in that scene was like a Gen Z kid talking, like _"Swam mode is sick fun"_ (cringey!!).
But the craziest part was the Analyst said in that scene that he was trying for YEARS to activate Neo's source code before he was about to give up, then decided to bring Trinity.
Years.....to bring Trinity....with no signs of decay....no explanation on how he found her body or what was done to preserve her.

Can't make it more obvious when the script clearly mentions Warner Brothers demanding a sequel and BTW "we'll do it with or without you" so Wachoski yielded but used the opportunity to include a few jabs. I just love the Merovingian's comments about Couch-Flix-Primety and Face-Zucker-S*ck ! My hat off to the post credits scene too!
I kind of want to think of it that way too. I'm gonna give Lana credit, given that they said they were gonna make it with or without her, so I reckon she deliberately scuppered it and fucked them over. That is a boss move to kill her own franchise to spite them and using their money to do it! Props!

As a long time fan of the original matrix, I couldn't stop from falling a sleep on this movie as I was watching. Literally.

The de-powering of Neo to set up his journey of ability/self-rediscovery on the road to Trinity *could* have been this amazing all-new exploration of how a creative and willful mind could hack the Matrix (and better explore how/why his abilities can manifest in the real world??). Instead, we got over 2 hours of "force pushes" and a version of the One that needs someone else to fly for him. I love this franchise and give credit to the world-building, but Lana Wachowski missed the mark with this half-cooked "Old Man Matrix-Logan" formula.

It's because production was rushed and Keanu was already very busy, so they didn't have much time with him. Instead of doing fight choreography, which can take months to make look good, they had him just put his hands up and let cg take care of the rest.
Watch Lana's interview. I think she mentioned that she is not so interested in making so many fight scenes.

Really miss the legendary fight choreography of Yuen Woo-Ping in this installment. After watching Resurrections, it's clear that it's his work and creativity that was really the life and soul of the action scenes in The Matrix movies
Nah even if he was still here pretty sure it wouldn't have saved the movie I'm guessing they didn't want to waste time or make Keanu exhaust his body due to his age since he also has to film John Wick 3 which requires tons of physical work and they can't have him use force powers or shit in that film.

The symbolism for Neo's transcendence in the first movie - being able to stop bullets, fly, destroy agents and seeing the code behind "reality" - has become THIS, a freaking super power of some stupid, generic underwear-over-the-pants super hero.

Mostly whenever he wasn't making contact with Trinity, he could only use his powers once and they were still limited and taxing on him to perform. But whenever he had trinity grabbing onto him for safety or when riding together on the bike he had full and consistent telekinetic powers.
That is the problem. They aren't "telekinetic powers", it is supposed to be him freeing his mind and realizing the matrix is a program, thus giving him the ability to alter the code and do these things. He isn't a magician, or a superhero with powers. That is what they reduced him to. Super fucking lame.
The power of love. It’s beyond computation and/or understanding. The core of this story and the trilogy before it.
It established well that this is not the same Neo. How could he be considering he has been freed at such an older age and it being a different iteration of the original Matrix we saw in 99. Such strong criticism from the “original” “fans” shows just how tied one can be to nostalgia - taking it on as an identity, refusing to change, thus changing regardless in a changing world.

Using it as a block, offence or defense, there is nothing anyone can do to counter it. In other words he doesnt have to be anywhere near you unlike everyone else who is still punching and kicking and using useless bullets. Its 2022, lets start from that...

But the movies, the sequel trilogy, is a complete mess.
TFA (Ep. VII) was kinda of copy of a ANH (Ep. IV)... but it was ok, it started something.
TLJ (Ep. VIII) is where the train completely fell off the rails. Instead of logically following what J.J Abrams setup in TFA, Ruin Johnson went nuts. Doing everything he can to "surprise" fans, to not give them what they expect... and in doing so, illogically messed up the entire Star Wars saga.
TROS (Ep. IX)... after TLJ, no director could've saved Episode IX. TROS was a "repair the damage movie". TROS was 2 or 3 Star Wars film crammed into 1. I bet Oscar Isaac still has nightmares about uttering that line : "Somehow Palpatine returned".

I was taught in writing that you start with the ending first. So you don’t start with little knowledge of where you’re going. Lucas didn’t do that when he did it.
The Force Pushes were the most disappointing things about The Matrix. How do you take a heroic figure that could block halberds with his bare hand then just ... I dunno, let's have him push things. Neo blocked blades with his bare hand. He could fly. He could leap into the body of an Agent. Now...? Now he's just bleh.

Well he was a blue pill for 60 years so he lost his powers, and the machines made him think that he was crazy....he had to gain it back. Remember he never believed he was the one until Trinity told him. She was the one who believed. They just did a shifty job of portraying this in the movie
I think he was blu pulled so long he got some of those powers closed out. It was easier for him to create powers that weren't used before
You don't get the concept of the one do you. The one (neo) is an anomaly that can shape matrix as he sees fit. Flying and destroying agents is only a way he shapes the matrix, he can do basically anything.

1. This was a New Matrix. Neo could not use his full powers instantly ie: when he tried to to fly but couldn’t
2.Fight Choreography was off as this was filmed during beginning of COVID. They had to take months off from filming even. And there was a stigma around Covid coming from Asian countries and so there were much less Asian stunt men and choreography used
3. Once again Neo isn’t in his prime he and literally doesn’t even shoot a gun once. His powers are more defensive symbolizing that he isn’t at peak and is just trying to get through things physically and mentally
The movie could have went in so many directions with the right director.

I wouldn't exactly say the floodgates are open, this movie tanked. If you want to see Neo regain his confidence and learn to believe in himself all over again, just go watch the original trilogy.

This is what I didn’t understand with this movie. Why does it create a force field and create those ripples? In the previous films he would just stop the bullets mid air, which to me looked way cooler than this. This looks cheap sci fi powers.

Matrix used a lot CGI doubles for action scene, nowadays, every movies use it. So showing Neo struggling in this movie means something, it's not about the best they could do, they chose to show it this way.
I realize Keanu and Carrie Anne are older now and can't move as fast as they could 20 years ago. But there had to have been a better way. This just felt SO lazy. Actually all the "fight" scenes here were _incredibly_ lazy and bland. There weren't any REAL stakes; I was never on the edge of my seat, squeezing my eyes shut worried. I just... waited for everything to be over with.
No, they could do the action if you take a look at the stunt training. It's just horribly edited and not as well fight choreographed in the previous films.
Wachowski could've just come up with a completely new story and characters, without pulling Terminator: Dark Fate and bringing back grandpas and grandmas from the original movies. I guess, Warner demanded them to be in the movie for marketing purposes.

It’s not what we DO here to impress other people socially that matters ultimately. It’s how we socialize and treat other people. Positive minds are always equal to socially. Self worth is love within and showing it off to other people, not DOING stuff to get noticed.
Humor in a mind, when authentic, is about sharing emotions (thoughts, ideas, and beliefs) that honor all people. There is no authority here. Serious minds, or minds that laugh but also look down on other people socially, share ideas and beliefs that are cruel and selfish.
People always focus on vibe. We are all connected within non-locally (quantum entanglement). When human beings present a false image socially, which means the outer persona does not match the inner persona, it insults the intelligence and awareness of others. No one likes seeing lying in others about who they are within, when we already FEEL it and know the truth.
We are all equal socially already. No one is on top, no one is on the bottom, and no one has any worth to prove to anyone. No one is an authority figure here. No one has a free pass to judge people more than others. Ideas rooted in social hierarchy are degrading, humiliating, and stupid.
Type A bullies / alphas are not stronger than people that are mellow and friendly socially. Type A / alphas have low feelings of self worth, mental instability, problems with manipulation & dishonesty, and emotional issues. They take their own feelings of self hate and self loathing out on other people socially, unprovoked, for no good reason at all.
Quite often the reasons people judge and cut other individuals down socially without hesitation and incessantly is ONLY because of a competitive nature, not because of a serious threat due to character issues in a person. Cheating in life is knocking people down socially to build up a social life. It’s a bad idea. People see head games in the minds of others. It’s important to be real about this and show honesty socially as much as possible.
When people are authentic, they never use career, talent, physical stature / brawn, education, or money as a crutch for self worth socially. There is never a reason to “dominate” others in any area of life when we show or believe in love and friendship. Feelings of self worth come from kindness, honesty, and humility socially, not from social images. Dominators don’t believe in their own personalities or worth. They seek to tear other people down instead.
Very often it’s nice, warm, humble, mature personalities that are already upset and insecure from judgments of the past that are knocked down unfairly even more by status seeking social elitists. People often see gentle human beings as “easy targets” to look down on so that they can attempt to build up their perceived status in an imaginary social hierarchy. Only conformists and shallow cowards think in these terms, not headstrong men and women with honesty, kindness, and respect.
When people are unwilling to pass judgments as much as possible and want to remain friendly, level, and sincere socially, it’s not out of weakness. It makes a human being mentally sharp, emotionally strong, and much more mature socially. It’s a threatening attitude to people that show hatred and jealousy (judgments) socially.
Judgements from status seekers usually have little actual substance or anything to do with character issues, violence in a personality, or antisocial, critical personality issues. Judgments from status seekers are hypocritical, shallow, cruel, and unfair. They ultimately cause violence and war.
No one cares about showboating or showing off. No one accepts or tolerates authority in other people - it just seems that way on the surface. Everyone is a spiritual being that sees through bullshit. The more conceited the mind, the more dishonesty there is in it.
People remain competitive only when they care little about working through their own judgments, anger, and character issues with other people socially. People stay competitive because they are afraid, not because they are happy or calm. Being competitive doesn’t make people “better”. It makes people nervous, angry, and depressed. Competitors only feel appreciated for what they look like on the outside and for what they are doing, then attack other people socially because they are in pain over not developing an honest, humble personality.
It’s time for human beings to wake up and end war and human authority for good. It has no place here. Violence and social elitism is jealousy and anger resulting from the competitive nature of human beings. Human beings that do not believe in love, focus on self worth, have a desire to heal in life, or learn to respect other people socially will always remain competitive, forceful, shallow, dishonest, and aggressive.
All people appreciate personality, warmth, and humor the most - not what other people DO to show off and impress people socially. That is just being real. Men and women either believe in love, or they do not believe in themselves.
We are all spiritual beings. We are all psychic. Live the truth and heal self and others socially. It is the only way forward.
First of all, catchy comment but a lot of pseudo-intellectual or pseudo-scientific statements. First of all, something from life experience: We don’t live in an embracing, friendly, flower power world but in a biological system where survival and procreation are the main concerns of the vast majority of living organisms for the vast majority of the time. Our protective societal state makes many people forget that nature, the universe is hostile as hell and wants to eat or kill you at every other turn. Just because people very recently (a few thousands of years ago) have created a society that shelters the most privileged of us and eliminates virtually all natural threats to people’s lives, doesn’t mean the world is a good, friendly, happy place. It’s partly that but it’s not all of that by a long shot.
Also, if you think like that of alpha personalities you have a very crooked understanding of what that even means. You’re confusing dominance with domineering, competence with domination and territorial integrity with brainless “brawn” when alphas are, contrary to cliche, often the most rational and logically intelligent people rather than just the stupid brutes they’re often portrayed as. Alphas are less emotionally reactive and therefore often think more rationally and effectively in social situations or situations of pressure. Why do you think women prefer alpha types any day over someone like you for example who I am sure doesn’t have a lot of experience?
Also don’t support arguments with scientific jargon that you don’t fully understand. Using quantum entanglement as an argument for “we are all one” is much less intelligent and much less impressive than you probably think.
Things are so much more nuanced and this new age “hippie” stuff you’ve apparently swallowed line and sinker is not the ultimate truth either. I learned this from personal life experience too.
Also, yeah status seeking behavior is what alpha types call “wannabe” behavior. It is very unpopular behavior among true alphas who don’t try but just are. It’s very hard to try to convey the reality and awareness of an alpha mind to someone who hasn’t walked in their shoes. True alphas don’t try. Ironically they are often just the chillest person, most confident, most in control person who don’t try to get anything at all out of a social situation. Which is a gigantic difference between alphas and non-alphas. You remind me of myself and some very close friends many years ago. We learned and grew beyond this stuff. You will too.
Exercise being humble, exercise having a truly open mind and exercise really getting into life. Exercise learning from those opinions that you dislike most. Get some life experience and travel - especially to countries that aren’t as sheltering as the country you live in, which I assume is a “western nation”. You’re gonna learn that the world is not such a cosy flowery place and that often people who think in these new age terms are some of the most corrupt and crooked minds out there. Stop trying to get something out of social situations and just be in social situations. You’re gonna understand more.
