This is a very important point for the health of our fishery. Do not net short fish...even with a rubber, flat bottom net the tail can be damaged and will rot.
Checked out a few of your videos and kayak fishing the pacific is something I haven’t done yet! I live in TN so the logistics is hard to do all the outdoors stuff in the bay. Be safe and keep it up!
Wow just saw the vid. Super cool! I will try shoot some halibut here in Cali next season too. I tried couple of times months ago but just not have my eye trained for recognizing them yet
@@skinnypenguin5857 thanks for checking it out! I should get a better light because my night vids kinda suck, but yeah, over here in Texas there are a ton of flounders esp in Aug, Sept. In Socal, I have only ever caught one halibut diving, I've had a lot of bad luck, going probably 5x before finally getting one. One time I even encountered another diver, he had 3 on his belt. don't know what's wrong with me... but I def made up for it in TX.
Wooo, such nice catching, love to see you had the keepers. How many Halibut you can keep in CA per day? As a visitor can have 6 pieces in Alaska, I did that limit last summer. average 40-50 lbs, then my arm hurted so badly stiff for almost 2 month ....
Like your kayak.
thanks :P
Nice, lots of halibuts. How deep of water are you trolling in?
about 15 - 35 ft
Please try not to net the undersized halibut! Their tails will split and get infected.

Our limit is 3. Ya pacific halibut is way bigger and a totally different game. (Mine is california halibut. different species.)
