- Paul Andersen explains the structure and importance of proteins. He describes how proteins are created from amino acids connected by dehydration synthesis. He shows the importance of chemical properties in the R-groups of individual amino acids in the polypeptide. He explains the four levels of protein folding and gives you an opportunity to fold proteins of your own using the game Foldit:

You *are* my GPA. Please never stop these. I will fund them singlehandedly if I need to.
YOU ARE THE REASON WHY ME AND SO MANY OTHERS UNDERSTAND BIOCHEMISTRY SO WELL. YOU DON"T NEED TO HOPE IF THIS IS HELPFUL. YOU ARE BEING EXTREMELY HELPFUL BY MAKING THIS VIDEO. WAY TO GO!
Well said! Even three years later :D
I must ponder your use of all caps.
i guess Im asking randomly but does anyone know of a method to get back into an instagram account?
I was dumb forgot my account password. I appreciate any tips you can give me.
@@cyrussamir724 you can use an email or the phone number and reset the password
@@aidianneely4556😂😂 I always read it as shouting.
This less than 10 mins video explains everything that I need from 1 hour lecture
AGREED
Its because there are no distracting kids @Serge Omelayenko
@Serge Omelayenko Liar
Wow. This video helped me understand what amino acids are.
I agree ✋
love how he just ends the video with "uhh and i hope that was helpful."
and we are just sitting here like " HELL YES IT WAS!!!!!!!"
Doing an online biology class and your 10 minute videos teach me everything better than the 70 minute videos my professors post. Thank you!!! You are a gift to science students everywhere.
when he said most 7th graders understand amino acids...welp im in 10th grade and i barely even know:'( lol
don't worry kid, i'm in med school and i didn't know :D i keep forgetting.
pittmans pittmans lol me too
Like how rude.
same, im in grade 12 rip
pittmans pittmans I'm in university and I'm learning this lol
I love this. I cannot stand "CrashCourse" videos. This is better in every single way.
Same
Is it really?
both are pretty good imo
Agree. Crash course is 80% entertainment and 20% first-order, undeveloped information I cannot recall after I finish watching one of CC's longer-than-average videos on a topic.
Ideally you shouldn't rely on just one series of videos to supplement your education. You should be watching videos from several different channels on the same subject so you can catch anything that one channel may have missed or gotten wrong. But ultimately these are meant as a supplement to an actual course, not as a standalone source of knowledge.
Mr. Andersen, I just want you to know I audibly yelled "YESSSSS" when I saw you have a video on amino acids!!!!
THANK YOU!!!
I wish I was in your class in highschool, I would be much further in life in terms of what type of education I absorbed.
Abyssal Nocturnus EHAT was it like watching this videovbefore trump
where are you now?
my mind is blown, everything in my mind just clicked in place after watching this video. thank you!
if only I could download your brain...
Guillaume Combot Nobody can study for us but ourselves lol
🥴😂😂
"When you look at me, you're actually looking at my proteins" HAHAHAHA
Thank you for doing these videos! You’re not just a chemist. You are a good teacher! Very clear explanations. I wish all campuses just had Mr. Anderson’s videos for their lectures on chemistry.
Only two minutes into the video and I already can’t thank you enough
"Gamers could win a nobel prize" that would be pretty cool.
Hi Mr Andersen, just wanted to say that your videos are amazing! I'm a student in Europe doing the same level as your AP biology class and you make everything so clear and concise - so thank you so much!
YOU HAVE CARRIED MY GRADES IN UNIVERSITY THANK YOU!! Please never take down these videos and please upload more! I did extremely well in genetics because of your videos :D
You never fail to deliver important, much-needed information! You're incredible!
Amazing, learnt a few hours of lecture material in ten minutes!
Gawd, I am learning at least 2 weeks of my Biology class lectures from just watching a 9 minute video. THANK YOU!
Thank you so much, I'm doing AS level biology at the moment and I missed a few lessons due to personal reasons and watching your videos have really helped me catch up !
Looked a lot of videos and try to understand the different levels of proteins, so far, you gave the best explanation of protein that helps me understand better. Thank you so much.
Wow I haven't been able to fully understand proteins for years & you managed to explain it in a matter of minutes. Thank you so much you are a great teacher. Your students are so lucky!
I cant believe I wasted a day trying to learn this when I could have done it in 9 mins!!!!! Thank you so much for making this so easy to understand
You wouldnt believe how long ive been staring at this for trying to understand it... and now it looks easy thanks to you! starting my degree in a few weeks and need to learn the basic's. Cant thank you enough!!
This video was Extremely helpful! I have a cell biology test in the morning and I knew little to nothing about proteins, even though I have the notes and asked the professor. After watching this video with my notes aside, it makes more sense to me. Thanks!
I wish all teachers were like Paul Anderson.
This was really helpful! My professor took twice as long to explain this, and didn't do nearly as good a job. Thank you :)
You're a lifesaver, your channel is a blessing!
So appreciative of your clear and understandable teachings! Thank you; it's all super helpful. I've viewed some CrashCourse videos and they are hard to understand. This is definitely more my speed and very interesting!!
You saved my time whenever i watch your animated lesson, which strongly build bonds in my brain.
You've helped me so much in my classes. My teacher shows us your videos often. Thank you.
This is the best video explaining proteins I have come across so far. Thank you it really helped it stick.
You just earned a subscriber. This is my 3rd video watching about proteins, Ive watched Amoeba sisters and Professor Dave explains (which are both GREAAAT i love them both) but I just cant seem to fully grasp the details of the lesson then I watched this and I finally ACTUALLY learned it, the visuals helped BIG TIME! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS!
I have watched your videos whenever i need to and they have always been helpful. thanks.
You just explained in under 10 minutes a topic that took my class two 1 hour sessions to cover.
Seriously great recap and will help immensely on the coursework I'm doing.
