A Tour of the Cell
Вставка
- Опубліковано 23 лют 2012
- Paul Andersen takes you on a tour of the cell. He starts by explaining the difference between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. He also explains why cells are small but not infinitely small. He also explains how the organelles work together in a similar fashion.

I mean I am stressed for AP bio and I watch this and despite that I didn't remember a lot still it calmed me down knowing that someone out there understands it so what's stopping me. Thank you it made my day I liiterly shed a tear it was such a reliever
Endlar Filmations that's a amazing thing relief your lucky you found the right video I literally cannot find a video that explains something as well as this guy
brosdistroer it doesn't explain well nessaraly but it just is calming
Endlar Filmations hank greens crash course is pretty good. really good for super quick summary of important information
XCT_ Fit I like Bozeman more, he's a teacher and he provides real world examples
AP Bio? Try College Human Anatomy and Physiology I have to memorize 60 pages of notes for tomorrow
its nice to know that there are still teachers out there that can still teach :D
(i wish you were my science teacher....)
me too
I graduated from high school a decade ago and I remember just about everything in this video. It's amazing what an impression a good teacher will leave on a student's mind. You, my friend, are a good teacher 📓📝📚
+Bella Luna Hello freind !
I love this guy. His voice and the cadence of his voice is so soothing.

@Silvia Koss why did your operator make you comment on a video about cells lol
i guess im asking randomly but does someone know of a method to log back into an instagram account?
I was stupid forgot my account password. I love any tricks you can give me.

Thank you for helping me pass my biology class....it wasn't thanks to my own professor I'll say that much. I wish there were more professors like you! : )
When you got no idea what your lecturer was talking about, this will be your solution. Great video Bozeman !
u have saved so many people omg
u must be the best teacher ever! Thanks for uploading this!
Nya Mad Oh yes he is!
I raised my grades like 1/5th because of this video :)
lets be real, we're all here because it was assigned to us :P
Edit: 5 years and it's still being assigned? You know I was in high school when I made this comment, and now I'm a year and some change from getting my bachelor's in psychology.
Time sure does fly lmaooooo
Edit: Almost 6 years and it's still being assigned? Glad to see you all still have to suffer like I did lol. Anyways for the few of you that have been following this comment, I just celebrated 5 years with my girlfriend! Ty to the people that ask how I'm doing, you guys are the best

I've never seen anyone teach tour of the cell structures with this amazing level of context and interest 👏👏👏
I wasn't sure why I was learning this in college anatomy but it totally makes sense now, thank you!
Hey did you get the COVID 19 vaccine?
It might have been better if our biology teacher used to play this video instead of talking in the class.
Thank you so much.
I don't have any biology classes or tests, I just find this stuff incredibly interesting :D

Early in the video he mentioned not to actually put a magnet to the computer, and at the time the video had 257 dislikes. It was a joke that obviously misfired.

I've never found a more comprehensive concise helpful introduction to cells. In fact, after pretty extensive study I've learned several things that would really have helped me along the way. I really wish I'd have found this one earlier. Totally awesome work on so many levels.
Thanks bozeman! your videos will live on forever as the most helpful biology tool. Its like you bring this concepts that i thought were super difficult to understand and you break it down perfectly. thank you!
THANK YOU so much for sharing this! I am new to anatomy, and you really broke all this down, and explained it so well. I appreciate that so much!
Thank you for generously sharing! You're a really really super great teacher and have helped my understanding of this topic IMMENSELY!
This was really helpful to me. I'm in college bio and I needed a refresher. This was explained so much better than all my other instructors in the past. Thank you.
You do not understand how easier you have made my biology and chemistry A-Level lessons, thank you so much!!
I've watched a lot of biological lessons on yt: Khan Academy, crash course, etc. Hands down, your videos, in my opinion, are the best.
The way you present information from the point of how it was discovered, then deeply examining each detail with easy to understand analogies is phenomenal.
Greetings from Poland Teacher!
go back to uploading videos, students all around the world need you!
Thank you so much. I literally learned in 15 minutes what I couldn't learn in a three hour lecture. And I have a midterm on Monday. truly a life saver!
Im not even lying when I say that I’m in bio 101, a college level science course for the first time, and my class is hybrid because of the pandemic. This has helped so so much!! I will definitely be watching more of your videos. Thank you so much!!
Isn’t it sad that we all pay so much money in college tuition, when after class, we all have to learn it again on our own via UA-cam? Mr. Anderson has been a lifesaver for my pre-health courses. I feel that he should be getting a chunk of my tuition instead.....
jessicauseful absolutely. It’s so frustrating because i feel I’m having to teach myself all the information. I’m failing, and that’s why i turned to UA-cam for help understanding the information. I absolutely feels he deserves some of my tuition as well.
Best and most concise explanation of the cell I've ever seen! That was a well-spent 14 minutes. Thank you so much!
75 question exam today... finished it in 25 minutes... I either had a clue or .... yeah
I would just like to say how much I appreciate your videos! They have helped me get through some pretty tough material!
Mr. Anderson, thank you so much for helping me prepare and refresh my memory for the TEAS V exam. You do an excellent job of simplifying science!
Thanks for the help! I wish we had more teachers like you in the world.
Thank you this helped me soo much with my essay!! And to put the in order it worked out amaizing! Got an A+ on it May God bless you... and your amaizing work! ☺️😉
do you know who aaron castillo is?
You definitely have the support of my AP Biology teacher; she plays your videos in class instead of lecturing us, or assigning us readings.
I was just thinking I wish my teacher was clever enough to do that instead of just put up PowerPoints with only words and then lecture us restating what is already on the slide.
I love when Mr. Anderson fudges the pronunciation of a word, and then laughs, lol.
This Video saves lives!
You are legit more useful than any science teacher i ever had
Saved me. I have a test tomorrow. You are my savior
Haven't taken a biology class since 2000. Thanks for your help!!!
+Sarah Morrison PS. I used to live in Billings. What a beautiful state.
+Sarah Morrison Billings is not a State.
Its implied that was referring to Montana, as opposed to Billings being a state.

your vids are still helpful while I'm in college!
drea24c Golgi
apparratus: Mainly used for packing and shipping proteins. It receives
protein containing vesicles from the Rough endoplasmic reticulum.
Vesicles are transporting sacs used to carry certain stuff so you know.
It also adds carbohydrates to proteins before shipping them off. This is
sort of like the post office of a cell.
Mitochondria: Only women have this and give it to us. This is where
cellular respiration takes place. Basically, our cells need fuel and
there is this specific type of fuel called glucose. Glucose is broken
down in the cytosol. The molecules that result after the glucose is
broken down in the cytosol then enter the Mitochondria. The Mitochondria
then changes that glucose into energy the cell can used called
ATP(Aedenosine Triphosphate). The production of the ATP using the fuel
molecules and oxygen is called cellular respiration.
Endoplasmic Reticulum: There are two types rough endoplasmic reticulum
and smooth. The main difference is one has ribosomes attached to it
which gives it a rough appearance. The RER receives only newly
synthesized proteins and transports them to where they need to go. The
inside of the RER is termed "lumen". Inside the lumen(fancy world for
saying interior of the RER). Proteins are chemically tagged and altered
to fit the role they need to be for the specific cellular functions. How
the proteins are shipped from the RER is by things called vesicles
which are like transporting pods. These vesicles(pods) are always
pinched off from the RER itself to transport the proteins. From here
they can go anywhere like ro the Golgi Apparatus where they are
inspected and shipped. The RER basically makes and synthesizes the
proteins to how they need to be, while the golgi just modifies it all
little so it can be ready. The smooth ER is where glycogen is degraded.
Here lipids and steroids are synthesized. Here is where chemical
modifications are made. You see as cells take up small molecules it is
up to the SER to make these small toxic molecules more polar which makes
the more water soluble and easily removed.
Centrioles: Associated with nuclear division. Basically they help the
nucleus divide. I haven't covered this in detail as it leans more toward
cell division,miosis, mitosis,
I'm in university and this is very helpful in my science refresher course. Thank you!

@@David-qv9yy thank you so so much
Just want to let you know that you got me through the hardest science ever with a B....now you are helping me with a my nutrition course! I am so glad u did these! Thank you Mr. Anderson!
LOVE your videos, you explain things in a way that helps to relate the miscoscopic to the larger world. Thanks so much!!
Very Helpful!! I don't think I ever fully understood this concept until I watched your podcast! Thanks again!
Just a quick tip: If you really tried to use magnet to your CRT screen and you can't get rid of color stripes even with demagnetization, just use transformer soldering iron. Turn it on near the screen and slowly pull it away. It will fix the screen. Did not believe that until I saw it on my own eyes.
Honza Kuchař now i want to put a magnet on my screen to see if that works
8 years later and you still out here saving lives. lol
Hey thanks for teaching me what my teacher won't!
Thank you so much this helped me a lot. I understand these a lot more. In science we were doing these worksheets and half of it I had no clue of the organelles were. Thanks again!
To think there’s a whole universe just with one cell only and then you have organs that function together as a whole unit to make up a species of each animal and human. Totally mind blowing Especially when you understand how complex that one cell works!!
This was so helpful and I plan on watching some of your other videos as well. Next Im onto the phases of Mitosis. I appreciate you taking the time to put these videos up.
Thanks Paul for talking to us in lingo that normal people can understand! You can really tell this guy knows what he's talking about, not just regurgitating text. Just wanted to say thanks for helping make some connections in my brain!
I love your science videos, I think I'm going to learn a lot!
Good job! Thank you very much!
I loved this class...it was simple, quick, and had an element of humour. Thank you Mr. Anderson, wish you'd taught me when I was a kid...!
Very informative and easy to follow!
(Who on earth put all these dislikes?)
Creationists.
Ones that putted magnet on computers🙊
Great Video, To think you made this in 2012, i would say...you sir are an excellent teacher :D
Thank you for making these videos. My AP Biology teacher always refers us to your videos and even tests us on your videos. I have to say, every video is so informational and will definitely help my class on our AP exams.
Your biology teacher touched me innapropriately
This was a great, helpful review! Thank you for your time!
what program does he use to draw the stuff
Who down votes something thus useful?
Thank you so much for creating this video! It's incredibly straightforward and thorough, and it is a great study aid.
Thank you so much Mr. Anderson!!! You're a fantastic teacher. Keep up the amazing work! !!
good review for my test on Moonday :) thanks!
I'm only here because my teacher made up watch this as a homework assignment 😴😴

got a science test tomorrow on cells, this is my revision he he
My teacher: does anyone know anything about cells?
Me: tHe MiToChOnDrIa Is ThE pOwErHoUsE oF tHe CeLL!
I'm taking an AP biology test tomorrow… and you just … well… saved my life rn
It help me so much. Thank you so much and I hope you keep recording this kind of video.
Not to be mean or anything but if u want to skip the video all away to where he talking about cells is go to 3:52 and 5:31 if you want to skip all away head where he is talking about the organelles and their function
DareOrDream thx
how would this have been rude?
My results of the test (had to go back and look at 4 & 7 to remember.)
1. Nucleolus; DNA carries out task from DNA to create ribosomes which further create structural support for itself, thus creating the other parts of the cell.
2. Nucleus; Control centre of the cell, carries out tasks for the cell. Nuclear membrane; Provides structural support and protection for the nucleolus.
3. Ribosomes; make proteins
4. Vesicles; intracellular transporters
5. Rough ER; makes ribosomes (which make proteins) for the cell to further develop the cell.
6. Golgi Bodies/Apparatus; Transport centre of the cell, refines and packages macromolecules for transport.
7. Cytoskeleton; Like a bridge, provide tensional and structural support for the host cell.
8. Smooth ER; makes macromolecules.
9. Endoplasmic Reticulum; Power centre of the cell through the production of ATP.
10. Cytosol; Water storage inside plant cells.
11. Cytoplasm; liquid which organelles float in
12. Lysosome; Intracellular digestive system, which if exploded would kill it’s cell with digestive enzymes.
Thanks again Paul! :)

wow I hope these videos stay on here! I went to high school years ago I'm now 31 but I did poorly on my science exams.. I want to go to university in order to do that I need to go back and do refresher courses or take an exam.. the courses are expensive.. I really think I can take notes off these videos (you did amazingly well) take some practice exams online and go for the real exams, and completely skip going to school and doing this at home for free!!
Passed my Bio CLEP test with the help of your channel, Thank You!!!
