I watch you because you are not extra. I actually can’t stand “over the top” people who are only acting that way to get attention. I learned when I started watching UA-cam for makeup tips and product suggestions, not to trust anyone who acts extra because there is a reason behind it, and it’s not to benefit the subscribers.
I think the comment about you not being ‘extra’ was meant as a compliment. It’s not that you don’t love some luxury items or have expensive tastes, but you are so relatable and authentic. First let me begin by saying that I after watching this video when it first was posted, I had to think about responding before I posted a comment. I am a 75 yo makeup lover and though there are many mature gurus that post on youtube, I find that I enjoy watching you and you are my favorite. You are informative, honest and enjoyable to watch. You give honest reviews and when there is a product that may not be so great, you find a way to present it that is not terribly negative. You recommend other folks makeup channels and there is no drama or cattiness on your channel. Honestly Em, in a world with so much negative social medial you are one joy that makes loving the makeup world enjoyable and a break from the world of negativity. Love the great advice...mix of affordable and high end...and many laughs...today I identified with spending on makeup and not clothes. Try your second palette again using the highlight powder first then the cream (I didn’t love it either) but definitely like it more using the cream on top. I’m just a Grandma who loves makeup, collecting makeup and everything about makeup 🥰❤️ I own both his eyeshadow palettes and can’t decide which I love more. Also, I’m the same as you, I will go to the clearance rack for clothes but will not hesitate to spend $70 bucks on eyeshadow 😂

I am 46 and I love watching Alix myself lol and agree it was refreshing to just see Patrick do her makeup on her home turf. My son is the same age as Alix and he said that she is a slob and that is not attractive. 🤣
I would love to see you recreate looks that makeup artists do. It doesn’t have to be with their own products but to do the placement of products the way they do it. For me, the way you do your makeup is predictable (because it works and looks good) but venture out with different techniques. Id love to see those videos.

I got both of Patrick’s palettes last year. I got the rosy one first, and liked the formula but thought maybe I’d like the brown more so then I got the first palette. I do like the brown shades more than the rosy.
I’m relearning makeup bc I only wore mascara in HS, added liner in college & foundation for work. We had no brushes or sponges except the eyeshadow sponges! I used foundation on my oily eyelids. Now I’m leaning toward a lighter liner & trying new foundations! Thx Emily ❤

Ok! For night time curlers that will hold-try it on DAMP hair that has been prepped with mousse. If your hair is TOO wet pillow curlers won’t work quite as well. Just an idea in case you did not know this.
Oh Emily I have missed your videos so very much. The past six months have been a bit chaotic for me. I had a back injury in July and crushed my T8 then in February I had another bad fall and crushed my L1. So I haven't been in the loop watching all my makeup videos and I missed yours the most. So I'm just starting back watching all my makeup utube video channels. I need to be watching them, I'm down to one Foundation and one concealer. I like getting ideas from your videos because we are about the same skin tone. Although it might be a while before I'll be purchasing any makeup. At least I can get some good ideas of what I want. Due to not having medical insurance it's been a struggle. But this too shall pass, I do believe. So my back and my health come first, but at least I could have some ideas of what makeup I would like to purchase when I can do so. I have recommended you to every single friend, every forum asking for UA-camr recs, etc. I remember one time, years ago, telling my mom about how I’d finally found a UA-camr who is articulate and doesn’t use filler words like “like” and “um”. I know it’s a small detail but it’s so unique. And I mean no disrespect to other UA-camrs, but you are incredibly well spoken. You’re also authentic and real and I base all my makeup purchases on your reviews. I’m not sure what extra even means in this context but you are the only UA-camr I’ve personally been consistent with for at least 7 years now so you’re doing something right. Love your video uploads. I’m pushing 60 and haven’t worn much makeup in the past. I’ve started wearing makeup almost daily after watching your uploads. I’ve found quite a few products that have become my favorites after seeing you use them and talk about them. I use heatless curls to curl my hair. I like the flexi rods. I purchased them on Amazon and really like them. I sleep in them-they are comfortable to sleep in. You might want to give them a try if you haven’t already. They come in various sizes.

Not sure what the extra comment meant but of all influences out there I only follow about 5 and you are in that group...when you post I don't miss seeing the video. Love the great advice...mix of affordable and high end...and many laughs...today I identified with spending on makeup and not clothes. I purchased the first pallet by Patrick Ta for my birthday, and I grab for it anytime I don't want to think about what look I want to do, for a natural look, or for a smokey glam. I have definitely grabbed for this pallet more than I have any other pallet the last 5 months. It is So beautiful and always looks amazing. Goof proof and stunning.

PS. Try your second palette again using the highlight powder first then the cream (I didn’t love it either) but definitely like it more using the cream on top. I’m just a Grandma who loves makeup, collecting makeup and everything about makeup 🥰❤️ I own both his eyeshadow palettes and can’t decide which I love more. Also, I’m the same as you, I will go to the clearance rack for clothes but will not hesitate to spend $70 bucks on eyeshadow 😂

Hi Emily. I’ve always wanted to tell you this but you have the best eyelid space for creating such beautiful eyeshadow looks. I have slightly hooded eyes and not the same kind of real estate you have on your lids. I wish I could create the same kind of looks you do because they always look so beautifully done.
I am 46 and I love watching Alix myself lol and agree it was refreshing to just see Patrick do her makeup on her home turf. My son is the same age as Alix and he said that she is a slob and that is not attractive. 🤣

I would love to see you recreate looks that makeup artists do. It doesn’t have to be with their own products but to do the placement of products the way they do it. For me, the way you do your makeup is predictable (because it works and looks good) but venture out with different techniques. Id love to see those videos.

I got both of Patrick’s palettes last year. I got the rosy one first, and liked the formula but thought maybe I’d like the brown more so then I got the first palette. I do like the brown shades more than the rosy.

She’s baked is my favorite blush! I have medium skin tone and it looks stunning! I always use the cream shade as a gloss/lipstick so beautiful
I’m relearning makeup bc I only wore mascara in HS, added liner in college & foundation for work. We had no brushes or sponges except the eyeshadow sponges! I used foundation on my oily eyelids. Now I’m leaning toward a lighter liner & trying new foundations! Thx Emily ❤

Patrick Ta sent me some makeup along with the brushes and I love his products so good!
Ok! For night time curlers that will hold-try it on DAMP hair that has been prepped with mousse. If your hair is TOO wet pillow curlers won’t work quite as well. Just an idea in case you did not know this.
My mom told me to try it slightly damp as well!! :D
Oh Emily I have missed your videos so very much. The past six months have been a bit chaotic for me. I had a back injury in July and crushed my T8 then in February I had another bad fall and crushed my L1. So I haven't been in the loop watching all my makeup videos and I missed yours the most. So I'm just starting back watching all my makeup utube video channels. I need to be watching them, I'm down to one Foundation and one concealer. I like getting ideas from your videos because we are about the same skin tone. Although it might be a while before I'll be purchasing any makeup. At least I can get some good ideas of what I want. Due to not having medical insurance it's been a struggle. But this too shall pass, I do believe. So my back and my health come first, but at least I could have some ideas of what makeup I would like to purchase when I can do so. I’ve been a long time watcher of your videos and I’m not sure I’ve ever commented! I just wanted to say a few things! I have recommended you to every single friend, every forum asking for UA-camr recs, etc. I remember one time, years ago, telling my mom about how I’d finally found a UA-camr who is articulate and doesn’t use filler words like “like” and “um”. I know it’s a small detail but it’s so unique. And I mean no disrespect to other UA-camrs, but you are incredibly well spoken. You’re also authentic and real and I base all my makeup purchases on your reviews. I’m not sure what extra even means in this context but you are the only UA-camr I’ve personally been consistent with for at least 7 years now so you’re doing something right. So anyway, you’re truly a breath of fresh air and thank you for being you!!

Love your video uploads. I’m pushing 60 and haven’t worn much makeup in the past. I’ve started wearing makeup almost daily after watching your uploads. I’ve found quite a few products that have become my favorites after seeing you use them and talk about them. I use heatless curls to curl my hair. I like the flexi rods. I purchased them on Amazon and really like them. I sleep in them-they are comfortable to sleep in. You might want to give them a try if you haven’t already. They come in various sizes.
