You’re so right about baddie culture. You’d be shocked that what you thought was your style really isn’t when you’re off social media. Baddie dresses, hair, makeup etc.
Let me tell y'all the real truth about baddie style....it really does not exist in real life. You will get weird stares from people when you step out your house on a regular degular day in a 30 inch crimped lace wig with wild baby hairs and 28 mm lashes with a face beat not to mention you'll be dead in the show if it's a hot day because you'll definitely be looking a hot mess. What girls don't realize is that looking like a baddie is only for the gram and certain events. It's not a style that is to be worn often, hell not even baddies look dolled up in real life. This needs to be talked about continually because girls think if they don't look like a baddie then they're not beautiful or deserving of good treatment.
Sadly as men were accustom to women giving social medias out to men more than their numbers when asking but seeing that you are different from them us men like me will keep that in mind 😉💪🏾👍🏾
@@EvieAswiti Y’all should appreciate that even more as it adds a safety barrier. You’d rather someone have direct access to you with your number, where all they have to do, is put in your number and get your address and relatives? When it’s way harder to get the information about you via social media. As a woman, you all should be thankful that this is an option nowadays especially with how some men are crazy out here. So I don’t think it’s tacky at all.
@@WLIIIDC Exactly. And with their social media you can get an insight of who they are. Like if they post, follow, or comment on things I don't agree/allign with morally, then I can automatically block them. I don't even have to waste time trying to figure them out and getting to know them. Same with friendships too sometimes.
I deleted IG 9 months ago and deactivated Facebook almost 2 months ago. I find myself absent-mindedly scrolling through Pinterest and my photos. Its like the habit of scrolling is still hard-wired. Trying to break it. But I def see the benefits in my self esteem and time management. Thanks for sharing!
It’s absolutely a process - I definitely scrolled elsewhere for a while until my self awareness kicked in. Keep on going! Appreciate you for watching 🤗
I like Pinterest. I only go on there for inspo! I don’t get distracted because there‘s not a crowd of people you personally know making status updates or posting photos
The last point… when I tell people I don’t use social media they are either super interested in me or become disinterested quickly. I like it helps weed out those are not worth my time
I deleted social media 5 years ago and never looked back. I’ll never forget being in a room full of ppl before and everyone was on their phones/Instagram. Except me lol.. I just sat there and looked around as to how addictive it actually can be. It’s sort of scary but it’s reality. I’m happy I left and I feel so free and private, I love it here. Thanks for sharing!
Yay! I had to get out of there when I couldn’t eat while out until everyone got their food photos 😂 I don’t mind it most of the time, but sometimes I just wanna eat!
@@EvieAswitimy friend would be so irritated with me cause I would be eating my food as soon as the server delivered it bc she wanted to do a reel of everyone’s plates🤣
It’s funny, I told a co worker I didn’t have social media and they tried to make it seem like I was living under a rock. I’d been on the internet for over a decade. There’s not much more to see anymore, as there’s nothing new under the sun. It’s less stressful and gives me more time to reflect internally and get comfortable with who I am offline. Shout out to being off grid!
I finally decided to quit TikTok and Instagram it’s been a month and I can see a difference. I still use UA-cam for educational purposes. Thank you for sharing and I do see you glowing!
My mom told me to delete my social media for a few months and live in the moment and I can redownload it if nothing comes of it. I said lol that’s easy I’ll just prove you wrong and it’s been 7years and i have no desire to get any of my socials back! I LOVE IT HERE and have no desire of going back to that dark place.
Baddie culture is definitely real. Hence why I don’t really post pics on socials anymore. It’s really sad that we think we have to look a certain way to be beautiful. 🙏🏾
I totally agree, the whole culture and beauty standards are just not for me, I see the beauty in my natural self and I don’t want to fit in, wear makeup or wear weaves anymore. I used to want to and I used to try but I deleted social media because of that reason specifically, the pressure to fit in is so heavy on those platforms, I just read my books, do my yoga and watch UA-cam now or even go outside and lay on my picnic blanket. Deleting social media has allowed me to enjoy these simple pleasures again.
I don’t plan to get back on social media again until I reach milestones like buying a car and house. That way I’m accomplished and can spend my free time uploading cute pictures and scrolling
I deleted my instagram as an aspiring music artist and it really benefited me a lot. Wrote a lot more songs and being more productive off the grid. And I learned that life is better living in the moment than on social media. That’s why I only have my UA-cam channel and I never considered UA-cam as social media cause you can control what you consume on UA-cam than the other platforms
In one of your previous videos you mentioned how we shouldn’t be able to scroll and feel all these different emotions at the rate we do and it’s been stuck in my head since.
It’s very toxic to your mind. If you have depression or any other mental health issue as well, you should be even more cautious while using it. Being off Instagram has showed me a lot of people look happy but are probably so depressed on the inside. Because it’s only for a minute and you gotta keep it up to get that hit, or validation from others.
I heard someone else a guy say it . He said he’d scroll through social media and then realize he didn’t really remember anything he scrolled through the next day yet he was addicted to social media, and that was when he decided to delete SM
@@BriaBarrowsI agree, I shouldn’t be able to know what’s going on in peoples lives, their good and bad days cos I don’t need those range of emotions and idc cos I’m focused on my own life.
I deleted all of my social media including tiktok last week and it has been the best thing ever. I started to realize that a lot of social media platforms are catered to influencers and celebrities. I also left because I’ve noticed my self esteem was getting worse everyday especially since tiktok became a thing. Every time I would get on tiktok there would be a new thing for girls to change about themselves and feel bad about. I didn’t even know what hipdips were until tiktok so why am I suddenly feeling bad about how i’m naturally built because of random people on a app?
You just learned a new life hack! Sad most people will never get to experience this type of newfound freedom and self love. It's not a good habit to overshare your private life or overconsume meaningless life details of thousands of others over the internet. I've learned healthy people always have a strong personal detachment or dislike of social media. The more I mature and heal ... the less I utilize social media or be in these streets. Now I only use social media for news, not to share my private life with others or to stalk others I really don't care about. The real cool kids are the ones without social media ... trust!
I love this! I was just telling my husband that getting dressed everyday has been so much easier since I’ve started limiting my time on socials. You don’t realize just how much you’re being influenced until you step away.
I just think that social media culture has given rise to women being less clothed. Honestly, its on display. The less clothing, the more likes, right? So I think that men who are more interested in you as a woman without social media, it shows that you offer exclusivity, literally a gentle and quiet nature. It makes them want to get to know you more, it shows them that more is required to know you. Men don’t REALLY want or value anything that everyone else has access to. I believe that’s what’s meant by “mysterious” because you don’t put it all out there and I LOVE IT ON YOU! Been on a social media hiatus and to me, if you can go 10+ days without it, you don’t need it. Out with the old, sis. And the skin is POPPIN! 🙌🏾👏🏾😍
Yessss!!! This insight is spot on. Very keen on the gentle and quiet nature note too. I also totally agree with the 10+ days bc at the time that 10 days felt so freeing. A win is a win. Thank you for watching and for the sweet compliment! 🤗
I hate the culture now because it’s like if you don’t look like that as a woman, society makes you feel like you don’t stand a chance. Men and women should take breaks from it often cause I can see how it can destroy relationships
Love Love Love hearing about ppl getting off social media🎉. I deleted my IG on 12/ 22 and FB deleted 01/23. I just got tired off seeking validation, constantly seeing what everybody else was doing and at times I felt that I was behind in life. Everybody was married, having babies, good paying jobs, traveling. And me just working everyday 😢. I also started to see a lot of fakeness in ppl. But when I finally decided to get off social media my anxiety and stress reduced. I just feel so much better and happier now😊. Happy to see that you’ve made that decision as well ❤
This comment resonates with my reason as to why i deleted my socials since 2015. I didn’t like the feelings I got when I started to compare my life with others. I have felt free and happier since and I don’t care if others think it’s weird not being on socials..
I LOVE THIS ❤ I thought I was the only one ! I told my therapist that and everyone from Highschool was getting married, having kids, or traveling and posting everything it was too much 😔😢… it made me feel less than.
I just got back on IG after being off for 4 years but I now use it as a photo diary and post at the end of the month every month and only follow a few friends I generally care about lol. I literally don't know what is going on about anything unless it comes up on my UA-cam feed lol. I only care about Pinterest, UA-cam, and bettering my life without extra opinions. People always look at me weird when I tell them its best to text me if you want to get ahold of me. Love that you shared this!
“it’s best to text me if you want to get ahold of me” is such a flex uuggghhh! 👏🏾 You have to do what’s best for you girlie. Seems like you are using socials in a way with healthy boundaries and I love that
Turning 30 in a few days and I really feel compelled to do this. I feel like I have so much noise in my mind and it’s becoming harder to think for myself. I think I’ll maintain UA-cam, but my gift to myself is eliminating social media completely
Sis let me first say that you look amazing🥰 I deleted all my socials 8 months and never looked back! it is such a freeing and refreshing feeling of not having to constantly be bombarded with a "feed". When you said "I exist, if you see me you see me" I felt that to my core😮💨
Yep! They’re gonna get whatever is in stock at this point 💅🏾 Thank you so much for watching, love! I’m happy it resonated with you 🫶🏾 I appreciate the compliment too! I’ll show up glam one of these days on camera
It's almost noon and I'm glad I'm seeing this today. I literally deactivated my socials at 6 am this morning. It's crazy how many times muscle memory has made me grab my phone to log in since then. Which just shows how addictive it becomes. One thing I know for sure is, if you aren't monetizing social media then social media will be the biggest distraction to your goals. Seeing my contemporaries living the life I'm working for only slows my process down because I keep trying to rush the "process." Thanks for confirmation and keep the fro!
i go back and forth with social media, but i’ve deleted it for good this time. i feel soooo addicted to my phone it’s unhealthy i don’t even realize it but i’m on it all day, definitely trying to break the habit. it’s much more peaceful this way.
Just turned 33 and I been feeling so behind in life . Deleted my social media and I don’t feel like that anymore. It’s so easy to compare . I don’t even feel as depressed anymore since I did it. I didn’t realize subconsciously I was putting myself down. I love it here
I’ve been on the same wave. I locd my hair and it was tough at first. I started to feel like I wasn’t beautiful. I’m a college student, so I haven’t had much funds for my nails and things to be done. It was hard to find beauty in myself naturally. But after a while, I found the beauty within. I always knew I didn’t need extensions, my nails did, etc to be beautiful. It feels great. I had to realize what I wanted to portray myself as, and who I was. Life is now about me becoming who I want to be. and getting rid of anything that isn’t me! I logged back into social media the other day after a 2-3 week breaks, and felt 0 FOMO. It was relieving.
I'm on a dating site. When men ask me for my social media instead of my number, it never goes well, they just become another creeper in the background. So I stop giving it out and only offering my number instead. The conversation between the men that immediately ask for socials , never goes anywhere/never progresses. It's such a red flag for me honestly. I'm happy its finally getting talked about more
I haven't heard the full video 2 mins in and honestly I'm honestly done with wanting to be seen. Realizing the effect that it's personally has got on me. I personally made the decision to take a big setback. I don't have the main social media such as TikTok, snapchat, I deactivated my instagram but honestly couldn't careless of if it gets deleted after the that 30 day period. I've always had those moments when in my teens of just wanting to simply disappear. Now im just at a place where I don't see the need of it. Those who genuinely speak to me have my number and thats good enough for me. I feel like social media Instagram to be exact just is so draining for me. I just don't see the point of using it. Love you videos btw you are just amazing. You seem so at peace and comfortable in your own skin
This comment really blessed me because I know EXACTLY how you feel 😭😭🥹🥹 I am happy that you’re having this level of self awareness. We ARE allowed to change our minds and if something isn’t working for you anymore then that is totally okay. who knows, a new version of you might’ve been ready to be born right when you reached this step in your journey. Thank you so much and I appreciate you, love! I want my videos to inspire and resonate so I’m happy you’re here to watch and listen 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
I am planning on “going off the grid” this week and I stumbled on this video. Thank you! I’m not “addicted” to it but I do spend more time on it than I’d like. Plus my life isn’t where I’d like it to be so I need to focus and I believe removing social media for a while will help me do that! Thanks for this message
I've been off TikTok Instagram and Facebook since April and I love it. I feel like I'm living more for me. I'm only on UA-cam because I don't consider it at social media either.
UA-cam is my only social media. I found myself feeling disconnected from people and the latest topics and fashion. I was judged more called "Old" I also changed the music I listened to. It has been a humbling experience. God is building Your leadership in a way you never imagined💪🏾🙏🏽 💯 Thanks for sharing 😊
You put into words the way many of us feel. I personally am fighting the urge to need to be seen and specifically viewed as desirable. Its toxic and a losing game. Hoping I can adopt your mindset. Thanks for making this video
Definetly. Unless you’re an influencer or it helps with your work there’s no meaning behind using social media that often. Honestly it looks just cheap
Yes, you’re spending tons of time online without making money from it. Time is money. I’m not posting anything unless it’s for promotion of my business.
This! I got off social media years ago. I do have Twitter now but i only use it to learn and keep updated on news because I don’t have tv or anything to stay updated on politics, etc. Deleted Facebook when I turned 19. Same, I really don’t care to be seen. I’m very conscious on who I follow on Twitter as I don’t want to absorb negativity. Never cared to be a baddie either. While I do authentically enjoy makeup, I don’t wear it everyday. I also don’t care to dress very skimpy. Modesty is in for me. I must say, I don’t have community in person. It’s hard to make friends and I still feel like social media makes it easier for some people but yeah. Loneliness is a horrible thing. I feel lonely on social media but I feel even more lonely in person. Hopefully I find my tribe soon! Hoping more and more people get off of social media and start connecting in person! Great video!
A lot of people are lonely and we can all relate to some extent. i see it as a sign that we cultivate ourselves in seasons like that. Also lol on modesty bc I too, don’t like skimpy clothes like that anymore
This was ON TIME for me! I noticed myself comparing (especially on IG) my life vs my friends and influencers. Which is absolutely crazy because God has blessed me with so MUCH!Thank you so much for your wisdom! P.S. You are so beautiful and your skin is literally glowing!😍😍😍
I felt this!! I was off all social media for over a year and can relate with everything you said. I went back on instagram after a year and everything seems so predictable and just uninteresting lol. I didn’t miss out on much. I want to go off again so thank you for this video.
you are glowing with natural beauty. I am coming up on a year sans social media. no shade to anyone but I am completely divorced from dramatic unnatural beauty and being "popular". so good to here, you got my sub!
Yesss I love this video. I have been off social media for 3 years now. And honestly it changed my life. Everything you explained in this video is exactly how I feel. There is more to life then being on social media. I rather be active in real life with the people I love. I’m so glad I made the decision to ditch social media and I’m not even looking back ❤
I love that for you! I sometimes feel the urge to create a new account for my personal brand, but I’m not trying to look back either. Too many benefits!
You're speaking ALL facts! Ive been battling with deleting all of my social medias lately. I have a clothing brand so that's really the only thing that's keeping me on, but honestly I'd rather be off the grid . Thanks for sharing!
U area right on track...very very very smart woman.u are most def a baddie. U have sense of self. U have confidence.ur not a sheep.ur conscious is aware.. BEAUTIFUL
I remember hearing someone say “you can’t trust a person with no social media “ Hahaaaa I’ve been off Facebook since 2018 and off insta since June! I feel so free !!
Thumbs up for coming in as your natural beautiful self: no weave or makeup and skin is glowing. Leaving social media behind has also helped me save money because I don’t feel the need to “keep up” with anyone as far as buying expensive things or going on trips. Everyone is outside; I think I’ll stay indoors and enjoy my babies.
I deleted my Instagram and Facebook months ago and I don’t feel a way about it. I’m good with UA-cam just like you and TikTok on some occasions but not all the time. I do find that taking social media breaks throughout the year is super beneficial for me. It helps me my break my habit of constantly scrolling on my phone all day and I’m able to do other things in the meantime. As someone who basically grew up on the internet, I’ve noticed that I don’t care for these apps like that anymore. AsI get older, I don’t feel the need to let people know what I’m doing on the Internet vice versa I have no desire to have access in everybody’s life.
After my fail Relationship i went on stalking mode and it took a lot in me and getting anxiety and depression cause Facebook started showing me heartbreak posts and stuff every single time i went on and it made me feel worst i just woke up one day and decided to delete insta nd Facebook it was not easy bcz i relapsed 2 weeks later but chose to discipline myself and finally deleted all my socials and to be honest i feel like a lot of wait has been removed from me and realized everything happens for good reasons if it wasn't for the break up i would still be on social media but it took a break up to leave focus on work read the bible read novels and workout more , honestly i do not miss anything at all i feel normal without knowing what's trending and what's what
I’m totally in this place! deleted fb and tic tok and IG is next . I feel like I still need it to run my businesses but even in that, i tell myself “how would you run your business if social media didn’t exist?” Appreciate you for this video sis 💜
As a man, yo find a lady who is not in social media is a super green flag. For me it means you are a person at peace with yourself, with high self esteem and not an attention seeker. In other words, in a world full of clout chasers, baddies and bad btchs, you my beaufitul lady are a a total outlier
I agree about the social footprint thing. It’s so weird being out and a guy asks for my snap or ig, like??? If you wanna take me on a date ask me for my number if not leave me alone. 😂 I get that it’s very common behavior now, but it’s a huge turn off.
Girlieeeee - it is soooo tacky. When I used to have social I wouldn’t even give it out when they asked lol. Now being off the grid it feels so freeing that they can’t lurk on me 👀
I’m so glad I stumbled across you today. I’ve been off the radar of Facebook and instagram since May 2023. I became too invested in life vs showing off, showing the world. Nobody cares enough. And I am very focused here. People miss you more. I have a sense of privacy now. I love this video. We got something in common.
Thank you for this video. I think it’s so brave of you to talk about this. I’ve been feeling the exact same way about social media so I quit it for 2 months. However, it’s trickier for me because I’m in the media space so I need to use social media to push my brand and stuff so I’m still trying to find a balance between the two.
I appreciate you! Yes it is tricky. With Shorts being on UA-cam I find myself getting caught up as well. Being self aware when you feel yourself being sucked in is the key 🔑 thank you for watching ❤️ share with someone
I will say this all of you ladies who are agreeing with her I really have a lot of respect for yall. As a man who doesn't have or care for social media it is extremely and I mean extremely hard to find a woman who doesn't have one or indulge in it. Much respect
I haven’t been on socials for years now and I realize I was picking up behaviors and personalities from social media. Once I left. I realize I can’t stand baddie culture
Yassss I deleted everything and I feel so free and I like not hearing no more notifications and my mental health is so much better. Love this video. Thank you for sharing. I only watch you tube too. ❤
I'm glad I ran across this video, I think a great way to sum it up would be the phrase "touch grass". Social media has "influenced" (the irony lol) us to become a prototype of a certain kind of man and woman. From the physical appearance all the way down to the mindset. I think it would do us all good to disconnect and to find who we truly want to be as individuals! Great vid!
I deleted Instagram for right now !! I would be on there nonstop I realized that I was looking for approval from others for my looks and the way I dressed 😩 I was in too deep ! it and it was such a distraction using this time off to connect with God and his word ! Loved this video ! It motivates me to stay off
Planning on doing this! Needed this video for the encouragement. I love UA-cam but it is ABSOLUTELY social media. With TV, you watch it, it doesn't watch you. That's what makes social media what it is, it feeds you things based on algorithms and by paying attention to your behavior. It also creates a place to commune and share yourself/ideas with strangers. UA-cam is my biggest social media vice 😢 Cutting it out is going to be a TEST. The last time I deleted all my social media for a year+, I still kept my UA-cam. Still learned a lot and felt way more peaceful, but I did get way more into UA-cam during that time until I admitted to myself that I'm technically still using social media even if it didn't feel as damaging as IG.
9:26 I felt shamed a lot when I didn’t have social media. I went for about 7 years in my 20’s when I didn’t have it and people thought I was so crazy and that was like the main way my friends wanted to share with me (that lived long distance).
I’m really so happy for you that you found peace within your natural state and that you have found peace within your life. I definitely feel like everyone should be embracing of exactly what they are and I love that you are really inspiring people to embrace themselves even if it doesn’t fit into the baddie culture.
I absolutely love this and feel that I have been ignoring the call to delete my socials for some time now. I’d really love to focus on my UA-cam channel, but feel as if I need to promote on other platforms. In reality, my biggest supporters are not the people who follow me on IG, FB, etc. Plus, the mindless scrolling has to end! It’s too much information and consuming, not enough producing. Thank you for this video 💛
subscribed !!♥ I didn't get off social media fully ( deactivated old account ) but I made a new instagram ( 6 months in ) because I just wanted people that really cared about me on there and I wasn't enjoying having people in my views and not know how i'm really doing . It's been awesome doing things on your own pace and surrounding yourself w those who really know you not just know of you . also , I agree with being mindful of what your eyes see and ears hear ! because there is so much toxicity and "rules" to have this and that , and everything I have been able to achieve has been through awareness and will ! not baddies influencers LOL
Yes the company you keep virtual and in real life is soooooo important. I wasn’t a fan of the “monitoring” energy I felt on social media so good for you to start anew and have boundaries! Thanks for watching and welcome to my channel!
You're so beautiful and I love your peaceful vibe, I deleted my social media apps a few days ago and I'd say I can relate to what you're saying ❤ I don't think am ever going back I've found so much peace.
I had a man tell me he's impressed that I'm not on socials and in the same breath told me to hurry back on so we can connect lol, why can't we connect in person ? If you're dating, not having social media serves as a repellant for unserious men, if he were serious he'll make the extra effort to connect and get to know you inna real life! I know giving out your number is a bit much and personal for some people but I'm telling you if he cared to know you he would.
@@EvieAswiti girl I feel the same exact way fr ! I doubt I’ll ever be back. My life has only gone up since I left and I’m glad it’s not everyone witnessing - it’s unnecessary
I quit instagram a few years ago for 3 years and I went back just to check on a few people I knew were ill earlier. I'm reconsidering deleting again but I'm in between a rock and a hard place, I like music pages and career stuff. I do however agree with all the points you made.
People who don't have social media are more attractive It shows true leadership No need for validation I really wanna let it go But I enjoy being funny Or watching funny videos I do know I use it as a distraction I know my issues but it's like I just accept that I hope one day to fully detach But I haven't figured out how yet
When I deleted instagram I definitely saw that I was less concerned with FOMO and was able to enjoy the current moments more. I definitely feel you on the hair and makeup part on youtube. I'm back on IG but I use it so much less than I did in the past.
“Who is FOMO?” live rent free in my head. It’s so nice over here not concerned with what everyone is doing. Most of the things online is lowkey fake anyway
I quit social media about 6 years ago. I really hate that I braid and I gain most of my clients via IG But I believe God is pushing me to leave braiding and delete my socials as well. I can't wait to fully be off the Grid🤗
You go I left FB in 2012 and IG in 2014 it is refreshing...but I need to get off UA-cam too because these shorts are like TikTok and I see I get caught up in going down a rabbit hole...ugh stay strong!!
I did this one semester when I found myself not being able to concentrate in school. The week I deleted the social media apps, I felt like a different person. I was able to enjoy and appreciate my life for what it was instead of what I seen others accomplishing. I didn’t feel like a failure, instead I felt human. I’m never going back! I am logged in on my computer (that I never go on) and I schedule content so I don’t have to interact with that toxic culture
We did a 21 day fast at church in 2013 and it involved a break from SM. I felt great when I got back on. Now I get off periodically for a week to a month at a time and I love it. I use UA-cam, but I agree that it’s more information leaning. Glad you found something that works! Thank you for sharing!💛
I quit FB, IG and TikTok last week. Just felt the need also not to share my personal & digital life, show my face and details about me. I love privacy and been craving to live off the grid. I still have Twitter as that's how I get my int'l and local news and for the comedic relief. I also still have my Snapchat mainly for gym and makeup content.
Good morning. I have to comment and say I agree with you 100% on all of your points. I remember when we didn't have social media and I was a teen/young adult without those influences. There was so much more peace and productivity. I know that social media influences me to buy or strive towards certain things or aesthetics I would never even think twice about otherwise. As a fellow content creator myself I love youtube but I also have instagram because of my channel; it's a good way to grow my audience and interact with my audience. But I still contemplate deleting instagram one of these days regardless. It's not healthy to create your identity in an online scroll of pictures; because then if you lose that, you're not sure who or what you are. I miss the days when people cared more about their character and their day to day lives rather than their online image which these days is so fake and photoshopped anyhow. Crazy times we're living in for sure. Enjoyed this video, new subscriber :)
Thank you for watching and resonating. Welcome! I cherish the old days and I took them for granted honestly. Technology and knowledge has increased… of course with its trade offs
jumpscare & 2024 update: I'm back on social media!
See why I made that decision here: ua-cam.com/video/si_anWUiax4/v-deo.htmlsi=QqhwS6L_LuxE0JMX
i quit social 3 years ago and im not going back. i used that time to connect organically and authentically to myself and others

You’re so right about baddie culture. You’d be shocked that what you thought was your style really isn’t when you’re off social media. Baddie dresses, hair, makeup etc.
Yeah, I had to switch it up a bit. Got tired of being a monolith.
Yeah you'd be shocked
Sis, I never grew up caring about what I wore or comparing it others. But social media will definitely have you thinking that way

I honestly hate when people meet me in person and ask me for my social not even my number .
Same. It’s very tacky!
Sadly as men were accustom to women giving social medias out to men more than their numbers when asking but seeing that you are different from them us men like me will keep that in mind 😉💪🏾👍🏾
Yeah social media is the middle man of socializing
I don’t get distracted because there‘s not a crowd of people you personally know making status updates or posting photos
this is so me!
Find a great book list and read about anything that captures your interest. It took me a while to get into reading but now I’m addicted 😊
Wow I do the same and never realized why. I feel seen
The last point… when I tell people I don’t use social media they are either super interested in me or become disinterested quickly. I like it helps weed out those are not worth my time
This.
Sameee
@@EvieAswitimy friend would be so irritated with me cause I would be eating my food as soon as the server delivered it bc she wanted to do a reel of everyone’s plates🤣
I definitely feel you on this. Same!
Mehn it feels so good. Privacy is power and I feel so powerful
Real talk. There's nothing new to see online.
I finally decided to quit TikTok and Instagram it’s been a month and I can see a difference. I still use UA-cam for educational purposes. Thank you for sharing and I do see you glowing!
Thank you Kendra! Congrats on making that step! You will NOT regret it, I can promise you that. Appreciate you watching 💋
I only have TikTok and UA-cam
My mom told me to delete my social media for a few months and live in the moment and I can redownload it if nothing comes of it. I said lol that’s easy I’ll just prove you wrong and it’s been 7years and i have no desire to get any of my socials back! I LOVE IT HERE and have no desire of going back to that dark place.
7 years!? Wauuuu, you’re a beacon of hope! 👏🏾
I love it ! Just deleted mines. I feel peace already
Baddie culture is definitely real. Hence why I don’t really post pics on socials anymore. It’s really sad that we think we have to look a certain way to be beautiful. 🙏🏾
very sad - now I feel the most beautiful I’ve ever felt!
Yes you are beautiful:) and I can imagine you do. It’s very toxic out there. I’m sure plenty look happy but are sinking inside.
Thank you so much - appreciate you sharing your take on the subject.
So spot on with enjoying the simple pleasures! 👏🏾
I love doing yoga 🔥🥰
I don’t plan to get back on social media again until I reach milestones like buying a car and house. That way I’m accomplished and can spend my free time uploading cute pictures and scrolling
Awesome!✨
Yes! Same for me ❤ the simple pleasures again and truly being in the moment enjoying life
I deleted my instagram as an aspiring music artist and it really benefited me a lot. Wrote a lot more songs and being more productive off the grid. And I learned that life is better living in the moment than on social media. That’s why I only have my UA-cam channel and I never considered UA-cam as social media cause you can control what you consume on UA-cam than the other platforms
I’m glad that worked out for you!
In one of your previous videos you mentioned how we shouldn’t be able to scroll and feel all these different emotions at the rate we do and it’s been stuck in my head since.
Now this is the one ☝🏾 and I still stand by that. I hope you’re well btw!
@missfefeloves
I can tell you just from my break, people aren’t happy on there!
The real cool kids are the ones without social media ... trust!
This comment made my day! Accurate depiction of how I feel. Thank you ☺️
I love this! I was just telling my husband that getting dressed everyday has been so much easier since I’ve started limiting my time on socials. You don’t realize just how much you’re being influenced until you step away.
Girl I have save too much money not feeling pressed to buy stuff. Now I just use what I have until I run out or I buy what simplifies my routine.
This!!!!
I literally give my self anxiety and a whole nervous breakdown when I’m trying to find something to wear to events.
Yes. For me I was so disappointed with being regular or average. Like I wasn’t good enough or instagram worthy…Like what I need to get to class
@@EvieAswiti I love you sis! Thanks for the update ❤️
@moorelivinwithxbeautyy Love you too! Thanks for following up with me
I hate the culture now because it’s like if you don’t look like that as a woman, society makes you feel like you don’t stand a chance. Men and women should take breaks from it often cause I can see how it can destroy relationships
As a man I approve this message! You hit it right on the head Queen!
Happy to see that you’ve made that decision as well ❤
Thank you for sharing your experience! I’m happy I made the decision too and now reaping the benefits 😊 happiness is a choice
This comment resonates with my reason as to why i deleted my socials since 2015. I didn’t like the feelings I got when I started to compare my life with others. I have felt free and happier since and I don’t care if others think it’s weird not being on socials..
Yes!❤
Exactly!
I LOVE THIS ❤ I thought I was the only one ! I told my therapist that and everyone from Highschool was getting married, having kids, or traveling and posting everything it was too much 😔😢… it made me feel less than.
I’d rather a person get to know me from being around me not checking out my social media account
perioso
funny, even when they see your whole life on Instagram they still don't want to put the effort in.
I definitely agree it’s weird
these days are gone women sad but true
Happy early birthday!!! Yes give that to yourself and begin a new chapter
“If you see me, you see me” whew a word ❤
It's almost noon and I'm glad I'm seeing this today. I literally deactivated my socials at 6 am this morning. It's crazy how many times muscle memory has made me grab my phone to log in since then. Which just shows how addictive it becomes. One thing I know for sure is, if you aren't monetizing social media then social media will be the biggest distraction to your goals. Seeing my contemporaries living the life I'm working for only slows my process down because I keep trying to rush the "process." Thanks for confirmation and keep the fro!
Love your self awareness. Thank you for watching and I appreciate the love! Definitely keeping the fro
i go back and forth with social media, but i’ve deleted it for good this time. i feel soooo addicted to my phone it’s unhealthy i don’t even realize it but i’m on it all day, definitely trying to break the habit. it’s much more peaceful this way.
Congrats for self awareness hun - this is just the beginning 😊
5 min in and I totally agree so far. I’m 33 and left social media alone for majority of my 20’s and it really changed my life
Just turned 33 and I been feeling so behind in life .
Again, FOMO who? Good for you, mama!
What Fomo mean
As a woman who’s in her early 20’s and been off social media for almost four years, I literally just nodded my head throughout this whole video.
Yup ! Especially if you’re not making money off it then there’s no reason to keep Instagram
I let social media go almost 3 months ago and I am loving it! I agree with you about how better life can be without these social sites. ❤
happy for you!
I find it annoying when someone will ask for my socials and think I'm lying when I say I don't have social media
U gotta say it 50 times😅
Yea it’s like saying to them that you don’t have a phone LOL
Omg yes especially men they think I’m hiding something
I love it. I feel rare and like untouchable 😂
Love it ❤ less social media allows us to focus on being rather than commodifying our lives for the consumption of others
I am planning on “going off the grid” this week and I stumbled on this video. Thank you! I’m not “addicted” to it but I do spend more time on it than I’d like. Plus my life isn’t where I’d like it to be so I need to focus and I believe removing social media for a while will help me do that! Thanks for this message
you’re very welcome - your focus will be very obvious once you remove distractions that is for sure
This is beautiful. Thank you so much.

You put into words the way many of us feel. I personally am fighting the urge to need to be seen and specifically viewed as desirable. Its toxic and a losing game. Hoping I can adopt your mindset. Thanks for making this video
Appreciate your vulnerability - it’s a process but I’m glad I can put something out there that’s easy to relate to. Thank you for watching!
Definetly. Unless you’re an influencer or it helps with your work there’s no meaning behind using social media that often. Honestly it looks just cheap
Yeah it’s a lot
Glad it was helpful! Thank you for the lovely compliments ☺️♥️ glistening and gleaming forever and ever!
I felt this!! I was off all social media for over a year and can relate with everything you said. I went back on instagram after a year and everything seems so predictable and just uninteresting lol. I didn’t miss out on much. I want to go off again so thank you for this video.
Skin just glowing!!! I love the idea of dropping all socials. I recently have been called to live a quieter life as well.
Love that and thank you!
you are glowing with natural beauty. I am coming up on a year sans social media. no shade to anyone but I am completely divorced from dramatic unnatural beauty and being "popular". so good to here, you got my sub!
Very much detached. Thank you girlie!
I’m really inspired
I deleted all my social media and honestly I feel at peace .Thank you so much
you are so welcome

Thank you so much ☺️ you are too kind!
I remember hearing someone say “you can’t trust a person with no social media “ Hahaaaa I’ve been off Facebook since 2018 and off insta since June! I feel so free !!
I'm also at the point where I feel I no longer need validation from others. I feel more peaceful without social media and much happier for it ❤
Thumbs up for coming in as your natural beautiful self: no weave or makeup and skin is glowing.
After my fail Relationship i went on stalking mode and it took a lot in me and getting anxiety and depression cause Facebook started showing me heartbreak posts and stuff every single time i went on and it made me feel worst i just woke up one day and decided to delete insta nd Facebook it was not easy bcz i relapsed 2 weeks later but chose to discipline myself and finally deleted all my socials and to be honest i feel like a lot of wait has been removed from me and realized everything happens for good reasons if it wasn't for the break up i would still be on social media but it took a break up to leave focus on work read the bible read novels and workout more , honestly i do not miss anything at all i feel normal without knowing what's trending and what's what
Good for you to find that realization 👏🏾
So real
I’m totally in this place! deleted fb and tic tok and IG is next . I feel like I still need it to run my businesses but even in that, i tell myself “how would you run your business if social media didn’t exist?”
Appreciate you for this video sis 💜

I love everything about this perspective, so refreshing!
Thank you Michelle! I’m glad it resonated. UA-cam is here to stay though. This is the new television. I think God has me here for a reason ♥️
As a man, yo find a lady who is not in social media is a super green flag. For me it means you are a person at peace with yourself, with high self esteem and not an attention seeker.
In other words, in a world full of clout chasers, baddies and bad btchs, you my beaufitul lady are a a total outlier
This is where im at. Coming off all the apps soon. I think I’ll do a video on this as well
go for it!
I agree about the social footprint thing. It’s so weird being out and a guy asks for my snap or ig, like??? If you wanna take me on a date ask me for my number if not leave me alone. 😂
I get that it’s very common behavior now, but it’s a huge turn off.
Yes that sense of privacy is so underrated. I’m glad you resonated and happy to have you here! Thanks for sharing and watching.

Great vid!
Well said "shy girl" speaking wisdom! We love it here.
I deleted Instagram for right now !! I would be on there nonstop I realized that I was looking for approval from others for my looks and the way I dressed 😩 I was in too deep ! it and it was such a distraction using this time off to connect with God and his word ! "I truly GLOW for a living" -- my god, this is amazing
thank you doll ✨ darn tootin
i feel you. your aura is pretty authentic, you seem secure.
Thank you sm for sharing. Agree UA-cam is totally different than other short form socials
Absolutely. UA-cam is a search engine first and foremost.
I love being natural it’s so relieving
your glowing, peace of mind is a powerful thing
thank you and yes it’s so underrated but it’s amazing
I just deleted my social a month ago & I must say I feel so much happier, present & just realized I’ve never really liked it from the start
It was meant for me to watch this!! I’m in this exact season

Thank you doll! It’s all you can do really - people get really down about not “fitting” in and I don’t like that

👍🏿 love to hear it, so many people are waking up and falling back from the poisons of social media
You're so beautiful and I love your peaceful vibe, I deleted my social media apps a few days ago and I'd say I can relate to what you're saying ❤ I don't think am ever going back I've found so much peace.
That’s an amazing feeling. Thank you so much doll 💕
I hollered at “I don’t know who FOMO is” 😂🙌🏾💯 Big facts!!! I am the aesthetic! ❤️
exactly who is SHE???
i'm really invested in this perspective, so glad i found your channel and all your thoughts! 💌 keep glowing sis
Thank you so much! Happy to have you. More thoughts on the way!
I feel cringe about people studying my socials like it’s giving very much “monitoring spirit” energy liiiiike…?
@@EvieAswiti girl I feel the same exact way fr ! I doubt I’ll ever be back. My life has only gone up since I left and I’m glad it’s not everyone witnessing - it’s unnecessary
same girlie same
I quit instagram a few years ago for 3 years and I went back just to check on a few people I knew were ill earlier. I'm reconsidering deleting again but I'm in between a rock and a hard place, I like music pages and career stuff. I do however agree with all the points you made.
People who don't have social media are more attractive
It shows true leadership
No need for validation
I really wanna let it go
But I enjoy being funny
Or watching funny videos
I do know I use it as a distraction
I know my issues but it's like I just accept that
I hope one day to fully detach
But I haven't figured out how yet
You're right. Your 'aura' is hot AF-it shows that what you're saying is true. ❤
Thank you so much doll ☺️
When I deleted instagram I definitely saw that I was less concerned with FOMO and was able to enjoy the current moments more. I definitely feel you on the hair and makeup part on youtube. I'm back on IG but I use it so much less than I did in the past.
“Who is FOMO?” live rent free in my head. It’s so nice over here not concerned with what everyone is doing. Most of the things online is lowkey fake anyway
@@EvieAswiti yes like people pretending to have a good time for social media only for the actual event to be lame 😂
@musesofny this is the one 😂
I quit social media about 6 years ago.
I really hate that I braid and I gain most of my clients via IG
But I believe God is pushing me to leave braiding and delete my socials as well.
I can't wait to fully be off the Grid🤗
Love this for you! Lean on His understanding
I'm in the same boat!!
there are beauty apps for braiding and hair stylist that can get you the same traffic and clients. xx
Thank you so much. I am looking into that. 🫶🏾
Same I am an entrepreneur and I am considering changing my career because social media has really taken a toll on me and I prefer being off grid.
You go I left FB in 2012 and IG in 2014 it is refreshing...but I need to get off UA-cam too because these shorts are like TikTok and I see I get caught up in going down a rabbit hole...ugh stay strong!!
omg the Shorts are suuuuuch a pickle. I too am disciplining myself to not spend too much time on them
I did this one semester when I found myself not being able to concentrate in school.
I love fasting 👏🏾 ur welcome darling
❤ this! Love your message and your consciousness about yourself and social media. Bringing things back to what is important 🎉❤
I didn’t know Snap chat was still a thing! I quit years ago with them lol. Good for you for making that step!
@7:48 especially men and it’s so sad. And no they don’t like when you’re not on social media. They prefer you to be on
Well said❤️ I’ve been deactivating my insta account on and off but hopefully before the year ends I’ll finally delete it for good✅
You can do it!
I love this for you, myself, and others. You are winning! 🍎New sub.
I receive all of thaaaaat 🙌🏾 welcome boo!
On the same journey, much love from Jamaica 🇯🇲 🎈
