My name is Matthew and I live in a van. I lost my job due to "cut backs" from the pandemic of 2020 and decided to seriously restructure my life. I am also a single dad who needed to find a solution that would allow me to remain in my daughter's life and plan for her future. After tons of research into #vanlife, I knew it was for me.
From March 2021 until October 2021 I spent my days building out my Chevrolet Express 2500, which came to be known as "Lucky" and as of October 18, 2021 I have been living in Lucky full time.
The build was done with almost no experience on my end and I used the one incredible tool I had at my disposal - the internet - to learn what I needed to build Lucky into a very comfortable tiny home.
I have always had a bit of a passion for being in front of the camera and really enjoy capturing the world around us. This really played into how I was feeling after almost a year of working from home when I "commuted" from the bedroom to the couch. I was starting to feel extremely unhealthy, unmotivated and despondent. I HATED that, and that's not a word I like to throw around. This new lifestyle gives me opportunities I just didn't have before and I am so excited to be able to share it all with you.
I truly believe we all have the capabilities to turn our lives around, should we choose to do so - and if I can inspire you to shoot for something better then I have done a decent job and that will keep me going.
There is more to life than the consume, consume, spend, spend lifestyle I feel we have all been conditioned to follow and I just want to do the best I can for myself first and foremost. Our time is limited and I do not want to waste another second on a lifestyle that doesn't bring me joy!

It was a beautiful drive - Grace does t have studs though - that’s Lucky. May have to get Grace some new boots for the upcoming consistent back and forth though

A wonderful vlog Matthew, I thoroughly enjoyed this relaxing journey. It had a very different vibe to that of your usual trek via Golden and Revelstoke. The pleasant journey through the laid-back towns of Cranbrook, Creston and Kaslo. Then the stop off at the Ladybug Cafe, a perfect, welcoming place to buy a warm drink while waiting for the ferry and the music you matched to this segment conveyed the ambience of that enchanting place. Finally the snow bound drive to home, the place where your heart truly lays.💞

The look on your face when the snow was falling made me so happy. You truly are living your best life and I'm so happy for you. I know a lot of that drive that you took and it was wonderful to see familiar scenery. Unfortunately for Fernie, you need to go East at Cranbrook and you were heading West, well, kind of North and then West, you know what I mean. I'm so pleased it was a less stressful trip this time then last time and you are able to contrast that scary memory with a good one. Another fabulous vlog Matthew. I'm so proud of you!

Hi Matthew, the views on your travels are amazing! We don't see that sort of beauty here in southwest Florida, although the palm trees can be truly awesome. And not freezing is so nice. Your scene at the lake with the falling snow reminds me of my perfect winter day. Trees painted with snow, a field of unmarred snow, it`s cold and the sun come`s out and warms your frozen cheek`s and the snow sparkle`s. That is my kind of heaven.

I remember as a kid on the bus to Jr. High in South Jersey. In winter the hill our driver had to get up when icy was hard and the bus would slide back so our lady bus driver started gunning it to get enough momentum to get up the hill. Bus drivers had skills back then. 🙂

You went thru my old stoping grounds! I hope you take the ferry,it’s gorgeous!….but i guess I’ll see won’t I…lol …….Creston Salmo overpass is its name. Hopefully you get the Osprey 2000 for your longest FREE ferry ride in Canada.

In Oregon we are in an ice/snow storm here in the valley. Just normal day activities take so much more planning. Can't imagine being in this weather all the time. It's something we live thru a few times a year which is just the right amount.

It got so cold in Calgary the other night that they used the emergency system asking people to conserve power by not charging their EVs and even suggesting we unplug our block heaters 🙄

I live on the state line between TN and AL. It doesn't usually snow here below 28°F, but it's been below 20°F and snowing all day. (An all-day snow here is about 6" and I really, REALLY didn't think we were going to get it.
If I could return it to you, from whence it came, I would. I am definitely not driving between now and Friday.
