**Looks at Kat's easy Old World rehouses**
**Looks at their Pokie Metallica juvenile, who literally LEAPT out of her enclosure and scampered across the floor to hopeful freedom before thankfully being corralled into a catch cup**
I have such envy right now. Your rehouses are so smooth, omg. Well done! :D

We came across a nice Baboon spider (a little different to this one), just outside the front door. She lives in a hole out front. Here in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. Got a nice vid or two of Ms Baboon. We brought her indoors for the vid. On the dining table actually. Then, we placed her back near her burrow. It was on a small-holding (little farm)

I got my h pulchripes with my second order of tarantulas and I do have experience keeping reptiles in general and don't have much fear at all anymore however I used to be petrified of spiders but my fear turned to fascination anyhow the h pulchripes is one of Mt fav I personally don't feel like there is much of a difference with old or new world there all spiders and all have fangs that regardless of venom cause a decent amount of mechanical damage so seeing as it's not like u will not die from a bite to me it's all the same personally being someone who tends to have sensitive skin I'm more afraid of the damn hairs lol and when I found out that in Australia they make u start with old worlds it made it clear to me its not about the venom but instead it's about how calm u are and how u handle ur animals being A very laid back person I find the calmer I am the more calm they remain

You can say that the Harpactira pulchripes was one of my first old world species. I got it and a Poecilotheria metallica (as slings) in the same order. When my H pulchripes was in a smaller amac acrylic enclosure, it was a DRAMA QUEEN! I would get threat postures just looking at it. One time I got such a dramatic threat posture, it literally rolled over onto it's back! After placing it in a small pet keeper, it stopped threat posturing and would just bolt to it's burrow. But unfortunately I lost that sling. Not completely sure why. I'm guessing that impaction could have been the cause.
P.S. I sent you a message on Instagram. I have a fully matured male GBB. I didn't know if you were close enough for you to pick him up somewhere. I do live in southeastern Iowa. The way the FedEx location here works, I can't drop him off for shipping there. I would have to go to another city. With working first shift, shipping is too much of a hassle to deal with.

    • @tarantulakat
      @tarantulakat  2 роки тому +2

Lol wow yes personalities can certainly vary quiet dramatically. I did not see your msg but I appreciate the offer greatly! But right now I’ve already got a few breeding things going on, and GBB are notorious male munchers so I really am not sure if I want to deal with that right now lol. Maybe you should just buy a mature female 🤔

Kat....I am not on any of the social networks you show for getting in touch. I have a picture I took of the largest (by FAR) most awesome Wolf Spider a few days ago, in my back yard. (Arkansas) I am guessing it was at least 4 inches across. Brown, with stripes on it's legs. I did not discover your site till a couple of days ago. If I had known about you, I would have captured the spider if you wanted it. I see these half, to maybe nearly 2/3rds the size of this one here often. We also have very large (like 8 inches long) Walking Sticks here. I have a picture I took of one of those a few months ago.
How can I send the pictures, if you want to see them? And would you want me to capture it if I see another really big one. Remember, I am not on facebook, twitter or any others. I basically only use email.

    Hi,
I inherited my sons tarantula a few months ago. It’s an adolescent pink toad tarantula.
A few days ago, I bought a larger Zilla terrarium which has a front opening door, and a top opening screen. Since he’s getting larger in size.
The tarantula keeps trying to build his nest on the front opening door. How do I prevent him from doing that. Because every time open the door, it might destroy a spider nest? I arranged tree branches more in the back that go up the side walls and the tree bark too. But he’s not paying attention to them.
    Thanks… Jeff in

Because you can easily keep 100 spiders happy and healthy, with all their needs met. But it’s probably impossible to keep 100 cats or dogs happy and healthy, with all their needs met.
Is a large fish tank or backyard pond with 100 fish hoarding? Nop.

@@tarantulakat y'know, I don't think I'd trust people with a ton of fish either. There's that whole "feed him to the fishes," thing.
Maybe that's just me. In any case, I'm living vicariously through you because my husband's a chicken, so please, continue.

Oh, and I meant no insult. I just happened to be watching your video, and my husband passed by, and was like, "why does she have so many?" I just said "so she has one for every day in the year, duh. Same reason you have so many shoes."

nice video but holy crap you are such a stressful tarantula youtuber to watch..! 🤣
relax a little, don’t be so afraid. let them bolt naturally if they choose to (just have a catch cup.. 😨🧠)
ever wonder why you have stressed Ts who never come out? i do hope you learn from this, these rehouses tend to glorify arachnophobic’s trying to keep animals they’re not comfortable with.. 🥲

i could literally feel your anxiety just through your body language-
what do you think a TARANTULA feels when you anxiously slam it into a new home and do EVERYTHING to make sure they don’t feel FREE..?
      genuine question.
why keep these if your so nervous of spiders?
it not like “you don’t want to hurt them” , otherwise you would be 100% more relaxed on letting them go in by themselves.
      it baffles me.
