I learnt after a few years to take just a few beans and see how fast they come out the grinder to get in the ballpark. Then adjust. Means no wasted shots. Was hoping you were going to do by taste too as i am trying to learn this
It always hurts though, wasting 18-36 grams to dial in. I always end up just using the espresso. I'll just end the shot at 30ish seconds. If its too fine ill get say 13 grams out. If its too coarse I'll get like 50 grams out. Thats basically just a lungo. Not perfect but usable. I'll just adjust for next time
