You've shown me my niche! I love crocheting, and I've only been doing it for a few months, but I've been struggling to get into patterns for blankets, dish towels.. the back and forth - it's too simple and boring! This though, this is what I was made for! The complex, ornate patterns satisfy me so much and I'm flying along. Thank you for teaching us how to do this so clearly. This is the first of your videos I've seen, but it's just the beginning. You've shown me where I belong in crochet. Thank you!! I get so much satisfaction and entertainment from this, and coming off long-term, severe depression, this is another piece of finding myself and building an enjoyable life. It may seem like just a video, but small things can have huge impact. I'm going to gift this to my friend's daughter, who I recently bequeathed a few pretty pieces of antique cups and saucers, teaware, that had belonged to my gradmothers. They're from the same era as this pattern so, I figure it's fitting.
Thank you so much for your kind message! I am very happy to hear that my tutorial has been inspirational and motivational to you! I feel the same, it is really satisfying to create these crochet pieces, to see something pretty emerging from your fingers. I can't stop crocheting for that reason, and I'm glad to have so many fellow crocheters on the same wavelength. This keeps me going! So thank you for my motivation! Happy crocheting!
Little late to the party. I love that you explain every step. All the other doily videos just play music with written instructions and no explanation. Always have to look at the screen to make sure I don't miss anything. Yours are much better You got yourself a subscriber 💞
My granny was making me a yellow knit jumper when she died..I wonder what happened the peices. She taught me a little but i tried recently and lord was it difficult to even hold the knitting needles!
Thank you so very much ... excellent tutorial - I completed my very first doily! I look forward to checking out your channel. I am in awe of people like you who give up their time to show us all how to do it. I've the Priscilla Centrepieces and Doilies book, but find it much easier to follow along with you!
I was searching something elegant..now I got this even I am also found of vintage designs loved your work so much....hope you will bring more and more designs like this .
@@handmadebyraine this came out so well for me and it's only the 2nd doily I've ever made. I do have a question that's important to me... I'm using the exact same thread as you and mine is twisting up on me real bad. You don't seem to be having this issue so my question is how can I stop this twisting of the thread?? It's twisting up as I use it. I've had to stop my work and let it dangle down while it unwinds then start working again. This is quite a distraction for me and I really wish there's a way to prevent this from happening. I'm wondering if it's somehow caused by the way I hold my hook and yarn?? I'm NOT holding the same as you but the way I do hold them is how I've always held them for everything I've ever made and I've also seen many other creators hold theirs exactly like I do BUT these creators are not making doilies but rather making afghans, hats, scarfs and other clothing. Any help is greatly appreciated. God bless🕊️❤️🕯️🙏 Oh and I want to add I'm also now a subscriber to your channel.
Thank you, Vicky! I'm so glad to hear you like my tutorial! I think framing the doily is a great idea, I have done that with some of my other doilies. Thanks again!
I just finished that doily today. The challenge was the thread as I don't feel it since I have some neurological disorders. Didn't give up. I blocked it and starched it too. Plan to frame it and give it as a gift. Thanks for the tutorial as it helped me a lot. Clear explanations.
Thank you so much! I'm so sad to hear about your condition but I applaud you for not letting it give up doing what you love! It's so inspirational! I'm very happy that my tutorial was helpful to you and I think this doily will look beautiful in a frame. Happy crocheting!
@@handmadebyraine Thank you for your kind words. It's not a big deal as I learned to live with it and adapted to the situation. I even use my feet sometimes to help me with the tension when my left hand gives up. I really like your tutorials as they inspired me to seek more challenging patterns. Can't wait to crochet another one. 😉
I'd just like to say the way you explain things is really fantastic so easy to follow, your written instructions are brilliant too, iv not be crocheting very long ( apart from granny squares )so it makes understand completely stress free and having to keep undoing and redoing work carry on the great work
I have wanted to try doilies since I started crocheting but never felt very confident because I was new. I've been at it a couple of years now and still don't have the confidence lol. This is stunning and if I try one you will be the reason for it! This is beautiful.
Thank you so much! Thanks to your videotutorial I made my very first doily and have never been more proud. It was very easy to follow and Im so greatful!

What a beautiful pattern thank you for sharing this with us! I followed along with your excellent guidance and my Irish doily is gorgeous and looks a lot like yours. But now I realize that I don't know how to weave in ends on super thin lace. Do you have any tricks? Should I just use my crochet hook and do duplicate stitch somehow? What a beautiful pattern! Thank you thank you thank you!
