well said. I know "Battles" is going to be a great one. It's all a matter of keeping an open mind. A majority of "fans" will go on a rant and what not, but well, those who can keep an open mind are those who can truly see In Flames for who they really are. They never were a "metal band" to me. They are, were, and always will be IN FLAMES.

I've been listening to in flames now since I was 13 and I'm 28 now. And it's been a hard pill to swallow that they have evolved. But a logical person understands certain things like the fact that emotions and life changes throughout the years. People write from the heart and this must be what is there. Let's give it up to them for the fact they exist and still have the passion and drive to continue. Im still very much an "old school" in flames guy but I've accepted their journey and can still pick a few songs here and there that still feel like them. You don't start hating ur best friend when ur 40 because you guys started hanging out at 10 and he doesn't like playing tag anymore. People change as well as bands do. Let's all be glad that they made and impact on us and our very misunderstood genre of music.

This song is so good man. i listened to it ONCE, then I found myself singing the chorus all day at work the next day, I had to buy it and listen a bunch of times.
This is one of the stronger ones and i love the whole album.

Glubzi The Almighty, na your not, I like it. I'm sure many others do too. In Flames will always get hate. especially on their UA-cam videos. I thought their last album siren charms sucked I just did not find the need to troll the shit out of them, I just moved onto other bands/albums that year. Problem is this Internet age gives EVERYONE a voice. Sadly we gotta deal with that lol.

Flou's Metalworld every song they've released so far has been really awesome. definitely a nice "reroute" from siren charms. which In itself wasn't bad, but this album definitely defines what in flames is about. the melodies and feeling in all the new songs give the band new life.. but that's just my opinion. to each their own!

I had no idea why this had so many dislikes. Then I heard the vocals. Makes me wish UA-cam still had a 5 star system.
I don't know why everyone is complaining about this song. Especially the Chorus sounds freaking awesome, I agree the change between pre-chorus and chorus is sort of strange but therefore the chorus sounds much more awesome! IFWT \m/

Melodic death metal bands are known to be great inspirations for metalcore bands. How did a once melodic death metal band turn into a metalcore band is beyond me. It's the reverse of the process that it supposed to happen.
This isn't even Metalcore, more Alt Rock IMO, sounds like Breaking Benjamin now

Definitely enjoying the sound of this one. The only complaint I can think of so far from these new tracks is that the one previous to this had some wonky mixing going on, but I really dig the sound of these overall. I've always loved In Flames' use of synthesisers and this record seems to be bringing them much farther forward which is certainly welcome to me.
Four for four as far as I hear. Bring on November 11th!

The Abyssal Archivist I haven't heard a lot of their older songs before Reroute to Remain, but I am aware of those albums that they did etc. I got into In Flames when I first heard Take This Life off Come Clarity, so I've heard more of the stuff from around that era of In Flames such as Reroute to Remain, Soundtrack to Your Escape, A sense of Purpose, Sounds of a Playground Fading etc, but I do like what I've heard from the band, including the upcoming material :)

For every album to be different, it definitely takes talent. Good tune and album.
Come Clarity was still their best. It was just solid material and balance. It was the pinnacle of their prior sound.
Then, theres this. Its just average.
whoracle was the best :\ along side with The Jester Race.
I can say with all honesty that I will be listening to battles more than I did to come clarity.

Every bands sound changes. It has to. It's the same reason you can't sit and listen to the same album over and over for weeks. You get bored. If bands kept the same sound people would get bored of them. On top of that, bands write the music they want to write, not necessarily the music their fans want to hear. They have tens of thousands of fans, they can't please them all coz they all want to here different sounds. This is the music In Flames want to write. Just because some people don't like it doesn't make them sell outs. What would make them sell outs is writing music they don't want to write just to make fans happy. They can't make everybody happy at the same time. Just coz you guys don't like it doesn't mean the songs suck. Remember there's people out there that think One Direction and Justin Beiber write good music. It's not a matter of bad songs, it's a matter of taste. You don't like it, fine. But you cant call it shit just because you don't like it. I don't like Justin Beiber but that doesn't mean his musics shit. There's millions of people out there that like it. Yeah, I prefer older In Flames to this stuff, but I can understand that if this is what they want to write then that's fine with me. If the band is happy writing the music then that's what matters

I think this is actually my favorite of the tracks I've heard so far. And yeah, I'm gonna be one of those people who complains about the changing sound and "real" In Flames for a while, but I know it'll grow on me. Went through the same thing with Sounds of a Playground Fading the first time I heard it.

I could hear any 8 bars from any "older" song from In-Flames and could tell you which song it is and from which album. Each song had something unique and each album had a very unique style.
After and with "A Sense of Purpose" all their songs have become somehow washed-up, the power-chords riffs are boring, all songs are close to some kind of formula.
Also the lyrics are all some kind of teenager angst bullshit.

Berly Tannyono Putra they seriously should kick anders out of in flames.
If you did your research you would know that first of all the band was totally different back then and that no one from that line-up is left.
On Lunar Strain Mikael from Dark Tranquillity is on vocals with most of the well known original members of IF while Anders was in DT on vocals for 2 or 3 albums i believe which are really good. Then they switched it up.
The current IF line-up only has Anders as the let's call him original member and all of that in combo is tanking the band in my opinion. There is one track that has promise which is When The World Explodes that sounds awesome live so we will see what happens.
If nothing else take a listen to the new Dark Tranquillity album Atoma which is really awesome.

I like this song, its emotional. And so powerful vocals in chorus.... The only thing that stops it from being really good is not very smooth transition between screaming and this beautiful chorus vocals.

But the song was good, The End still the best, The Truth is a piece of shit and Through My Eyes is ok, yeah, they are not the In Flames that we knew anymore (R.I.P 1996 - 2006).It's sad, In Flames is my favorite melodeath band but...they totaly change, we need to let it go. For me the band just need to play all together, the classic songs, December Flower,Moonshield,The Jester Race,, Jotun, Food for the Gods,Ordinary Story, Colony, Bullet Ride, Only for the Weak, Square Nothing, Trigger etc... Doing this and composing all together I have sure that they will gave us amazing albuns and songs again.Now they're just another band with good songs.

New In flames isn't TERRIBLE, just when you've listened to them for so long back when actually put out quality work, you hear how sub-par the new stuff is. I can somewhat enjoy this but it's disappointing considering the fact that we KNOW they can do much better (or maybe not, perhaps all that magic left with Jesper). I used to defend their new stuff back when siren charms was released but really all this new stuff is lame. I mean, I love this "core" type of music and this chorus has a really nice melody and projection, but it's certainly not memorable (like their other albums were)
Some might kill me now but... I like the new In Flames more than the old. That's it. HATERS TAKE ME..

BATTLES - Constantly fighting with the fanbase who want pre-2002 IN FLAMES. At some point, they literally just stopped giving a fuck. Like it, or don't.
This release will likely do the same for me that OPETH has done - Like 3 - 4 tracks and forget the rest.
please don't compare Opeth with In Flames. IF is not even the same ballpark Opeth is.

What's wrong with the new Opeth? Not metal enough? I get the disappointment in In Flames direction, I'm disappointed as well but the hate towards Opeth always baffled me. When you hear In Flames fans talk about "They're writing what they want to write" it's laughable. It's quite obvious that it's being written for different reasons (I'm not sure if I can call them sellouts. Their record company might have something to do with the direction change) but at least with Opeth (although it's not metal) it really is Mikael wanting to write what he wants to write. He loves Prog Rock and is extremely influenced by it and you can hear those influences from Orchid to Watershed (Ghost Reveries and Watershed were much more noticeable). So again what's wrong with new Opeth? Not metal enough? Unfortunately we'll never get a classic Opeth album ever again it seems. Mikael's vocals aren't what they used to be. All he will ever do from now on most likely is sing...whether it's in the form of Prog Rock or maybe a more classic sound with clean vocals? Who knows?

With In Flames it's anyone's guess why they consistently seem to fuck up. One solid song gets released, followed by a terrible POP Rock track, to another decent tune, and now another uninspired mess.

Jesper Stromblad departure, and i'm pretty sure he was the one that initiated the 00' modern metal turn in their sound, and it was great. Since Sounds of a playground fading, it lacks something tbh.
Jester Race was released 20 years ago if you haven't noticed. "Old" fans are left bitching and moaning while the band actually makes something fresh sounding and does it better than the modern competition.
