- Today we're getting to grips with one of the oldest eating challenges in the country: The Big 'Un at Hungry Hossee in Corby...
This thing has been around for no less than thirteen years! In that time, only two people have ever managed to finish it within the hour and more impressive still is the record completion time of thirteen minutes, which has stood for over nine years now!
The rules are simple: One hour to finish a huge plate of sausage, bacon, lorne sausage, hash browns, potato waffles, eggs, hamburger patties, tattie scones, black pudding, buttered bread, beans, tomatoes, toast and fried bread...do so and the £20 meal is FREE, you get an individually framed picture on their wall of fame and if you can beat the house record, you get pride of place in a giant frame bigger than all the rest!

A: I eat like this for 1 hour of a 168 hour long week. In simple terms, I eat at caloric maintenance over the course of time, meaning I don’t gain weight. If you're interested in learning more, see the ‘But How Come You're Not Fat' and 'It Was Just A Normal Day...' videos available on my channel.
Q: Don’t you worry about your health?
A: Not in particular. I’m active. I eat nutrient dense foods five days a week. And, I get quarterly bloods done, amongst other health checks.

Beard, my 4 years old daughter Thea is addicted to your videos. She loves the food challenges, so much so every meal now starts with “right daddy, you have twenty thirty six minutes (or any random made up time she feels that day) to finish… If you do you get a t-shirt, and a medal” her concept of time makes every challenge winnable but she makes sure I know I’m not allowed to go for a poo! 🙄 all the best from us both in sunny Manchester 👍🏼

I've been rewatching your videos looking for tricks and tactics for any challenges I am happen across. From what I can tell, the key is to always eat as quickly as possible and to eat all of it.

I worked with the guy who held that record. I decided i would try to beat him at eating 20 chicken nuggets. He had finished then in under a minute while i was on my 3rd. Im impressed you beat him.

I'm with Jacob on this. Every second should count because the way the owners were reading out the rules so seriously they should have taken the time spent just as seriously. Maybe the original winner was a local hero. They did lighten up at the end though.

I discovered this channel a few days ago and been binging on your videos. I also lost 20 pounds over 3 months recently - a halfway milestone of my final goal. Your channel inspired me to celebrate by having a lil crazy ass cheat day. I ordered pizza, french fries, poutine, and 4 donuts. Less than halfway or ~3K calories in I realized I'm either gonna throw up or tear my stomach which made me acknowledge what unworldly feats Beard is accomplishing. You are a champion, sir.

you can have a lot of calories without it being so unhealthy you feel ill. Have more animal fats instead of processed oils. It'll cost a bit more but be more filling and taste better. You probably know this but if even your cheat days can be healthy it'll all pay off in the long run, especially if you end up preferring healthy shit to shitty shit.

I'm from Corby, it's called little Scotland as a lot of Scots moved down to populate and work at the steel works, including my family. We love tattie scones and square sausage. That was a beat of a challenge, well done and thanks for coming to Corby 🥰🥰

I love that you try to eat so cleanly, given the challenge and situation. It also shows a good character of mind to stay so fit-looking and not be a 30-plus-stone monster. You won't be able to do that when you reach forty.

I hear "the food has to be swallowed, not just in your mouth" and I imagine someone tried to just hold onto a bunch of leftovers with their mouth at the last moment and wanted that to count. Much easier to list a few rules than deal with that nonsense. Saying she must be awful at home because she listed some rules at work is pretty wild.

I lived in Corby for a few years - Corby is known as little Glasgow as the Scots settled there to work at the steel plant, I’m guessing the eclectic mix of food stuffs is a nod to the Celtic history of Corby. Keep up the good work!
This is why Stuart Adamson wrote Steeltown about Corby?! I could never understand why he wrote about an English town when he came from Fife which had a similar loss of industry. Good to know of the Scottish connection! I learnt something today thanks

@@marco9499 Bread is way more filling and just sits in your stomach so they usually keep that kind of food for the end.
Fun fact, thats why you get free bread in some restaurants, to fill you up since it stays in your stomach for so long.
The total volume of food is the same wether he eats it first or last tho………. So this logic is likely an old wives tale.

If you start with bread in a 30minutes challenge, the bread will not even start to be digested by the end of the challenge and its harder to "push down" in your stomach. If you start with lighter stuff and meat, those are usually broke down and digested faster in your stomach so in some situations could give you a bit more room in your stomach vs starting with the bread.

Exactly. Shifty rules and shifty vibe especially at the beginning as the conditions was being explained to him at the beginning. It was long winded and come across as esteem builder for whoever reads it. It's not that serious.
I spent 2 months in a coma last year, and for some reason since waking up I've become highly intolerent to foods that are gluten, fried or fatty.
Very frustrating as I am/was a foodie.
Your channel makes me very hungry, but somehow makes my food cravings easier, even if you are eating on my behalf 😂😂

Back in 2020, I was diagnosed with oesophageal cancer and having dropped to 7 stone in weight, due to the inability to eat any solid foods, in 2021, I had surgery which lasted over 8 hours, when recovering post surgery, I was so so thankful thatI could just eat solid foods, during my stay in hospital, I used to watch this guy with total envy, and am now hooked on his ability to eat huge amounts of food, thank you Mr Beard, for helping me keep my spirits up, during some very dark moments …👍👍👍

I mean, UA-cam is so full of awful channels it's ridiculous, so to see one where it's just a guy thoroughly enjoying basic but flippin awesome food is such a great watch, and to be honest I think it's simply because of you Beard! I think this vid is one of my favourites because it's clearly damn difficult and it's a 12 minute challenge with proper rules and with folk cheering him on. I love that there are burgers in there. In the Submarine Service, we call this a “Jolly Boy’s breakfast” - we also add steak, chicken and occasionally haggis. We have it the morning before getting alongside a foreign port, probably to make sure you’ve had a good meal before getting on it!

They were you in your games room where you hang all of your winners T-shirts trying to eat a huge volume of obscure items. You did chocolate bars, crispy creams, specific take out restaurant burgers and sweet challenges where you had to drink coffee to counter the intense flavour of sugar. I am loving what you are doing and enjoying every video, I just really enjoyed those obscure challenges that would have been extra difficult to complete because of their sugar content and sweetness. They were so funny and my kids enjoyed them as well. You’re doing a awesome job mate and I always love every think you do it would just be great to see another food challenge similar to the ones you’ve previously done in your home or the ones where you and Mrs beard cook your own giant food that you have to eat.
