Dressage wonderhorse Valegro is the equine partner of Charlotte Dujardin. The pair have won numerous gold medals. Unfortunately Valegro had to leave the competitions due to his age. ;-;

I love dressage for the joy and beauty of the horse and rider working in harmony, not to criticize or critique. I think Valegro is probably the most inspirational horse I've seen.
He didn't leave competition because of age; Charlotte said in an interview "Valero has won it all. It's time to retire him from competition at his peak and not at his worst. He deserves the best, and the best is to retire from competitions because he has proven to me that he has done it all and he has proven it to everyone."

he is a national hero in Holland. I expect the assessment committee who judged him as not good enough to be a KWPN stallion are now in permanent exile. (Apparently is Dam line was not good enough, who would have thought that would count at a conformation kurring)

I have wondered what entered their collective minds. I would love to see his progeny, but a mistake was made and he had none. But as a consolation prize, God gave him to Carl and Charlotte and they gave him to the world. Its wonderful to see occasional glimpses of him and know he is living a quiet life of leisure. love and luxury with those that loved him first and best.
