Fun Fact about the Francis Scene: John says "You've lost weight", Francis replies "Over 60 pounds" (Francis actually says the kilogram equivalent, 27 Kilograms, but the subtitles translate it to pounds for us Americans) which directly translates to the amount of guards inside. This is a code and a test for Francis. He is telling John that there are 27 people inside guarding the boy. And BECAUSE he was honest with John and showed that mutual respect, he let Francis go and "take the night off".
About that... translation is not wrong or off, he says "двадцать" which is 20, so if its over 20 that makes sense with subtitles as well, in which case 60 pounds is around 27kg.
Subtitles are US English translations. Therefore they aren't incorrect; just translated to US metric system, so that the US audience wouldn't be confused.

Yeah, the subtitles say over 60 pounds, but you can clearly hear Francis say Kilograms. When converting it, 60 pounds is just over 27 Kilograms. John killed 28 people inside the Red Circle so Francis's information was accurate as there were over 27.
I`ve watched this movie more than once and It never gets old. John`s fights are a piece of art. As you said, he dances :))) For me? This is 5/5 every time!!
20:04, don’t know if someone else mentioned but Marcus aimed directly at John knowing the wind would force his shot away. Notice the wind blowing his hair before he shoots…
I can't believe that Keannu has like five different iconic roles to his name and 2 seperate highly successful franchises and yet people want to call him a plain actor.
@@BaddMedicine I went to see it when it came out. That scene where he’s cleaning the dog's blood off the floor and his eyes slowly track up to the camera, a guy sitting behind me just went "OOOH, SHIT!!"
A fun fact to know about these movies that is really cool. Colors have meaning. Whenever u see blue color, it means John Wick is ok, when it's red it means bad for John Wick. Then when it's green it's like between good and bad. So depending on the color in these scenes, I know how well John Wick is going. It's a cool touch.
fun fact many movies have an inaccurate ammoclips in weapon. keanu wanted it to be accurate so every time he reloads his weapons the ammo count is accurate
If you like the gun fighting sequences, watch "Equilibrium," starring Christian Bale. In it they train in what is called a "Gun Kata," where they learn to kill as many people as possible from one position, with or without close combat. Cool stuff. John Wick's gun fighting style is reminiscent of that, almost an incorporation of it, for extreme efficiency of movement.
... when John walks down the stairs w/ the sledge hammer and starts on the floor ... John is digging up his past ... you can feel his anger ... the SHEER RAGE ... and Viggo knows that ... and knows nothing will stop John ... NOTHING !!!
3.5 stars, because it’s low budget? C’mon man that is something that should add points. The ending being a knife fight is because literally they ran out of blank bullets and couldn’t afford more. Keanu’s stunt work, his weapons handling, his acting. The way the build up John wick by having a character say “oh”. They make you fear him before they give details on him. The unique world it’s set in, how assassins are everywhere and have their own system. Their currency, their code, the concept of the continental. The cop…. All these touches that show you how the world in which it’s set is slightly different, and each sequel builds on it. Until you get the mind blowing opening sequence of John wick 3. “Tick tock”
Point is the pulled off a good action revenge movie with plenty of original elements, the “gun fu” is so original and cool. Took a lot of training. The fact the managed all that on a low budget is a good thing. Lots of great movies have low budgets resiouvior dogs, primer, saw, 12 angry men. Psycho Those last two even had small budgets for 50s and 60s First movie has the lowest budget, so it’s action was more modest and less hugely over the top like the sequels. It deserves pints for having a low budget, not penalties. Low budgets makes good movies more impressive because they had to work harder and be more creative…
Two of my favorite lines from the directors (watch John Wick Directors react to the honest trailer [John Wick 2]) "as soon as the camera pans off, the stunt guy gets up runs around the camera and puts on a bandana ready for the next fight sequence, we call it gerbiling" ... Very Mild Spoiler that won't hurt you ... "most movies take this transition between a sequel. Three weeks later, two months later, but for John Wick 2 we just took over when the last movie ended. This guy is just having a bad weekend"
Awesome movie! 5/5 The Bouncer Francis - when John states "you'v lost weight", Francis reply "over 60 pounds" was referencing the number of guys inside John was going up against. So many details in this movie, impossible to catch all of them first time.
As a Swedish person myself it's very easy for me to hear that the man playing Viggo (Michael Nyqvist), his accent is very Swedish in tempo and tone as he speaks and not Russian, yet he's had many roles where he's depicted as such. That has always been a little bit amusing to me. I guess it's not as easy to pick up on if you're not very familiar with the Swedish language though, and It's really the only tiny bit criticism I can give, because the man was a brilliant actor and writer. Sadly he passed away on the 27th of June back in 2017. R.I.P Michael
Old man that shows up with the other guys to do clean up at JW's house in the beginning,..is the same actor in the movie "The Warriors." ..."Warriors, come out and play-ay!" Classic!
I enjoy the John Wick movie series is a action movie series that shows realistic scenes because characters are shown reloading guns multiple times except for the 3rd movie, John getting harmed including stabbed doesn’t just quickly heal and same for other characters. Also the fights are realistic because characters bleed, messed up hair, bruises, etc.
Someone on another reaction video noted that Viggo served his son, Iosef, the bottom shelf crap vodka in a cheap glass and even though he poured himself one, he never drank it WITH his son. Viggo just puts it back on the bar. Viggo punches his son, goes behind the bar, and then pours himself top end vodka in a top end glass and drinks it by himself. That's how low he thought of his son at that point.
The fact that the only other thing I remember seeing John Leguizamo in before this was 'The Pest', and the Super Mario Bros. movie is a damned crime. The scene where he grabs the gun and holds it to his head is intense af.
The lighting is great and it served a purpose. John Wick's color is blue, so if he is in blue light it means that someone is fucked if they run into him. It's when the red lighting comes in that John struggles a bit.
5:40 I think, with its last strength, the dog crawled over to him while he was unconscious, then died. That's what that trail of blood is. Truly heartbreaking.
Wizard of Oz, but they didn’t kill the dog, just a kidnapping which was a lot more traumatic for children, PTSD induced for kids if they killed her dog.
One of the great thing about the filming is the continuous shot as oppose to multiple cuts, so you can feel the hit. something very prevalent in Jackie Chan's films too
5:29 the dog...I'm going with there was a tight pattern with minimal dragging. Kinda no smearing...the puppy walkied in its own blood-bleeding to be with her John Wick and was there with her pack-mate until she died-Ernie Moore Jr.
The dog he picked at the end was marked to be euthanised, probably just because he's a pittbull! They actually used a rescue dog as the "actor" for the dog :)
Hollywood movies have conditioned you to think that the end battle between 'good and evil' should be epic. The way it happens in this movie is a perfect fit for the character. No nonsense or bullshit.
@@BaddMedicine yes please react to Equilibrium. The fight and weapon choreography in it is really well done. I wish more youtubers would react to this movie. It's a very underrated movie.
Kevin Nash said in an interview that him saying he lost 60 kilos was code for how many people / guards were in the building, and that's why John let him live
I'm a big fan of how Viego is just losing himself through the movie with his choice of numbing substances, starting from that high-end alcohol, skipping the health drink before diving into the weed. I love that trope of the henchman letting the hero go into the place they're guarding. I get nice reminders of the Batman cartoon where a goon Batman beat up earlier leaves him alone after finding and then telling another goon that he found nothing before heading home.
Great reaction, you all are really funny! Even though I FF thru the puppy scene now, I've still watched this movie a dozen times. Never gets less cool. 😎
I don't know if someone has commented on this already, but the idea of a guy going after someone for killing their dog is actually based on a real-life situation where an ex-navy seal soldier named Marcus Luttrell chased down a group of guys who shot his dog, which was given to him by America's VetDogs as a support dog, with nothing but a 9mm pistol. I believe he went across several Texas counties for months, trying to find these people. Fortunately, the guys responsible for the death of the support dog (who was named Dasy, btw) were caught by police as the guy called 911 before his cross-county pursuit began. So, lessons learnt? Don't kill someone's dog. Otherwise, you'll hear the sound of a pencil being sharpened vigorously.
First time watching the channel, one of mu favorite action movies, several reasons why: the action sequences are truly revolutionary, Keanu Reeves is a perfect casting, the highlighting of "the code" is always a good element if done properly and this is done most properly, the cast is excellent, just a great story. Hard to watch the puppy get taken but that really sets up the rest of the movie. Love your channel, really appreciate that you're not dripping with profanity which I find very distracting. Since you asked, the "John Wick drink" is Blanton's Single Barrel. I believe he switches to Blanton's Rye in the second film, but that's the only bottle that's shown when John pours his own drink.
My favorite part of this movie is the scene with Francis (Kevin Nash) and not just because it is a funny scene, but they were actually talking to each other in code. When John asks how much weight Francis lost, Francis replies 60 lbs. But if you listen he said kilograms, when he spoke in Russian (because of the metric system). 60 lbs. is 27 kilograms and there were 27 guards watching Iosef inside the club. John wasn't asking about his weight, he was asking Francis how many people he would potentially have to kill. I believe John asked Francis in code, because he saw that Francis had his earpiece in, so just in case Francis' radio was transmitting. This was confirmed by Kevin Nash in an interview.

Loved it when John shot the guy in the the pool scene 3 times in the chest and then the head to finish him off
Haha great action in this movie!
All the Gun Fu!
Can you guy react to the amazing spider-man 2
Just recorded it last night. Will be out next week. 🤙🤙🤙
This made me a man of focus, commitment , and sheer will.
"he will come for you....."
Kevin Nash was spared not of professionalism, but because he squealed. When he said 60 kilos, he was saying how many bad guys were in side. for being willing to tell that, Wick let him go
Lol.... How did we miss that?!
Yeah, the subtitles say over 60 pounds, but you can clearly hear Francis say Kilograms.
When converting it, 60 pounds is just over 27 Kilograms. John killed 28 people inside the Red Circle so Francis's information was accurate as there were over 27.
Great idea from the writers to have that. 🤙🤙🤙
I`ve watched this movie more than once and It never gets old. John`s fights are a piece of art.
As you said, he dances :)))
For me? This is 5/5 every time!!
I love that whole cop interaction. lol Classic
20:04, don’t know if someone else mentioned but Marcus aimed directly at John knowing the wind would force his shot away. Notice the wind blowing his hair before he shoots…
Didn't know that. Good call out!
I can't believe that Keannu has like five different iconic roles to his name and 2 seperate highly successful franchises and yet people want to call him a plain actor.
"Man, John Wick is so good at shooting, he doesn't even shoot vertical videos!" - Honest Trailers
"Task your crew."
"How many?"
"How many do you have?"
Not enough…
Perfect answer. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@BaddMedicine I went to see it when it came out. That scene where he’s cleaning the dog's blood off the floor and his eyes slowly track up to the camera, a guy sitting behind me just went "OOOH, SHIT!!"
😂😂😂😂 at the comment, not the dog. 🤘🤙
Highly recommended in the comments here
@@BaddMedicine Because it's awesome 😎
🤘👍
One of my favourite films
Criminally underrated movie
16:17 Kevin Nash, many don’t know but Nash during the Punisher film actually got stabbed, the knife used by Jane into his chest was real.
What? No way?! 🤔
@@BaddMedicine Yep it was a prop error. Just like when blanks hit people on movie sets. Was a mistake but Nash rolled with it.
Good ol Kevin Nash
The John Wick movies are basically shoot-'em-up video games....AND I LOVE IT!!!!
It's fantastic!
... when John walks down the stairs w/ the sledge hammer and starts on the floor ...
“Tick tock”
His score went up as we did the other 2. 🤘🤘🤘 Also, we didn't know what he was thinking by doing a 3.5 either. 🤣🤣🤣
Psycho
Those last two even had small budgets for 50s and 60s
First movie has the lowest budget, so it’s action was more modest and less hugely over the top like the sequels.
It deserves pints for having a low budget, not penalties.
Low budgets makes good movies more impressive because they had to work harder and be more creative…
i can always rewatch this movie. blows me away it's already 10 years old, time has truly been disappearing
I love the interactions between John and Jimmy the policeman in part one and two.
We need more on their history
@@BaddMedicine I wish they would have had an interaction of some kind in John Wick 3.
Two of my favorite lines from the directors (watch John Wick Directors react to the honest trailer [John Wick 2]) "as soon as the camera pans off, the stunt guy gets up runs around the camera and puts on a bandana ready for the next fight sequence, we call it gerbiling"
...
Very Mild Spoiler that won't hurt you
...
"most movies take this transition between a sequel. Three weeks later, two months later, but for John Wick 2 we just took over when the last movie ended. This guy is just having a bad weekend"
Hahaha can't wait!
Awesome movie! 5/5 The Bouncer Francis - when John states "you'v lost weight", Francis reply "over 60 pounds" was referencing the number of guys inside John was going up against. So many details in this movie, impossible to catch all of them first time.
Yes. Sand that's what is awesome. The little details!
🤣🤣🤣
I enjoy the John Wick movie series is a action movie series that shows realistic scenes because characters are shown reloading guns multiple times except for the 3rd movie, John getting harmed including stabbed doesn’t just quickly heal and same for other characters.
Also the fights are realistic because characters bleed, messed up hair, bruises, etc.
It's all fantastic 🤘🤘
I love how they show you have to reload.. Keanu’s gun work is magnificent ❤️
Yes.... and actually let the scene take its time.
Leguizamo can act. He's great in Moulin Rouge.
You should see his Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet. Wonderful interpretation.
The lighting is great and it served a purpose. John Wick's color is blue, so if he is in blue light it means that someone is fucked if they run into him. It's when the red lighting comes in that John struggles a bit.
Genius by whomever thought of that.
Also they put Viggo’s son in ‘red circle’, so it makes even more sense.
The "Oh" is such a great moment.
Especially that look! 🤣🤣🤣
and the "Did he hear a fucking word I said" lol
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 viggo the actor did such a great job.
Everyone knows AND LIKES John Wick. His super power is friendship.
Boom!
5:40
I think, with its last strength, the dog crawled over to him while he was unconscious, then died.
That's what that trail of blood is. Truly heartbreaking.
Heartbreak indeed
That makes it FAR more tragic! Killing that little puppy was SO unnecessary, she was just whining, she wasn’t being any louder then they were!
The soundtrack of this movie and all other John Wick movies is out of this world... makes you feel the tension!!
The director fought to keep in the death of the puppy so audiences would feel his pain and anger, and want him to kill everyone that's responsible
Love it! 👍👍👍👍👍 It worked! 😂😂😂
I love Mason saying "A whole backseat of dog toys or something" like ... what kinda situation is that lol.
"You can always save the world, but never the one closest to you"
"You can't be a superhero and have people close to you"
...
Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa ? :D
😂😂😂😂😂😂 A for effort?
“Did you see those coins?” Hard to miss guy
🤣🤣🤣
22:44 is the best. After playing it cool for so long, the monster finally reveals himself 😂 love this scene.
A very fired up Wick and it was awesome to see!
Wizard of Oz, but they didn’t kill the dog, just a kidnapping which was a lot more traumatic for children, PTSD induced for kids if they killed her dog.
Lol a classic right there.
Fighting with guns...Gun Kata from "Equilibrium" 2002 movie. "The Accountant" is another good one.
That has Ben Affleck I believe right?
@@BaddMedicine Yes. Even though I don't care for him, he did a good job in it.
"Well,John wasn't exactly the Boogeyman. He was the one you sent to kill the f*cking Boogeyman"...damn
Hahaha such a great delivery!
One of the great thing about the filming is the continuous shot as oppose to multiple cuts, so you can feel the hit. something very prevalent in Jackie Chan's films too
Agreed! The continuous shot is fantastic.
I love the whole proud look on dave the whole time!
I usually don't like the dynamic of one person having seen the movie. But you guys do it right. New sub.
Hell yeah. Thank you very much. We appreciated it! 🤘🤙👍
5:29 the dog...I'm going with there was a tight pattern with minimal dragging. Kinda no smearing...the puppy walkied in its own blood-bleeding to be with her John Wick and was there with her pack-mate until she died-Ernie Moore Jr.
Makes sense.
That scene in the club is more awesome cause Keanu had a 104 fever and was sick as hell but he didn't want to stop the filming.
Lol.... What?! For real?
The dog he picked at the end was marked to be euthanised, probably just because he's a pittbull! They actually used a rescue dog as the "actor" for the dog :)
The last part were he took that dog, if you slow down the video, on that paper it will say “To be put down”
Technically john saves that dog 🐕
Yes. That's just awesome they did that. 🤙🤘
Hollywood movies have conditioned you to think that the end battle between 'good and evil' should be epic. The way it happens in this movie is a perfect fit for the character. No nonsense or bullshit.
And it was awesome
Gotta be worth more than 3.5/5. Has he ever given anything a perfect score? Also absolutely a yes on John Wick 2 & 3. Great reaction guys 🤙
Thank you! And thanks for watching. He said give our wrath of man reaction a 5 out of 5
@@BaddMedicine Copy that. Soon as I see the movie I'ma check out your reaction.
Highly recommend it!
3.5 is a 70% score. It's not a bad score but agree the movie is deserving of a lot more.
The only movie I can think of where they introduce a dog, then kill it, is John Carpenter's "The Thing" (1984).
Interesting. I Might have to go and check that out.
Fighting with guns action sequences? React to Equilibrium, a Christian Bale movie. Plot is a little bit like V for Vendetta.
Funny you say that. Someone else also recommend that. 🤙
Totally wrote a comment saying this lol
Yeah it came out around the same time as The Matrix, so it was pretty much ignored.
@@BaddMedicine yes please react to Equilibrium. The fight and weapon choreography in it is really well done. I wish more youtubers would react to this movie. It's a very underrated movie.
Lol I think we have to say this point.
They get the cutest little beagle and decide to kill it off instantly… my heart absolutely broke when I first watched this movie
Kevin Nash said in an interview that him saying he lost 60 kilos was code for how many people / guards were in the building, and that's why John let him live
Just fantastic 🤙🤘
Keanu is an absolute beast in these movies, he totally owns this charecter.
The henchman who threw John Wick was Agent Johnson from Matrix Reloaded
It was a great cast in this movie. 🤙
Fun fact Eva Longoria gets producer credit because she put some money into it. She didnt even know what the story was about lol
Interesting. Never heard about that until now.
If I was a gangster and my kid screwed up that bad, I'd have told them "I have no child, you'd better run before he gets here."
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great reaction, you all are really funny! Even though I FF thru the puppy scene now, I've still watched this movie a dozen times. Never gets less cool. 😎
Thank you! We appreciate it! And yeah, this movie never gets old. 🤘🤘🤘
Just a great bunch of guys watching a movie. Love it. Subscribed.
Thank you very much! We really appreciate it! Welcome to the channel! 🤘 Agreed with your statement above. Just such a movie and we'll executed we thought. And yeah, the puppy scene is crushing but John gives us a heck of a payoff. 🤙🤘👍
i still just laugh hearing that slow song while john wick is destroying everyone
🔥🔥🔥
24:18
i felt the same for a while the fist rime i watched this, but thinking about it, he took something so great from john and anyone else would go mental on that kid but john just popped him and walked away, didnt give him the time or energy, i think thats more powerful than unloading on him
Good point.
and also, right in the face.
Everyone thought he was Willem Defoe, but it turned out he was really Willem Defriend.
Since you asked, the "John Wick drink" is Blanton's Single Barrel. I believe he switches to Blanton's Rye in the second film, but that's the only bottle that's shown when John pours his own drink.
Might have to try that out
they just killed a dog, all bets are off, John, go get 'em
Just awesome whoever thought of that
@@BaddMedicine There is another UA-cam Channel called Cinema Wins. That's where I got a lot of the information. They do a breakdown of every John Wick movie. It's a good channel to check out once you've seen the movie.
🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
There’s just something about big, beefy men fawning over cute dogs, man. It gives me butterflies
😁🤙
The puppy crawled over to him before it died to be close to him. That's what triggered me.
It's the only film I've ever watched that I had to pause and take a break to calm down.
I don't blame you!
huh I thought the bad guys dragged the puppy over and placed it in front of him.
Thought the same
Either way it’s still fucked up
Yup! Totally agree.
Halloween 5. While not a puppy it introduces an adorable Rottweiler that Jamie bonds with. Then of course like in Halloween 1, Michael Myers kills him.
